Facilities were great the room was spacious and comfortable. The iconic pool was heated and saltwater, which is always a plus .

The location is good but i wouldnt walk around the area by myself at night as a woman.

We were Immediately welcomed by Orlando who was the best! So friendly and accommodating. Great parking option, with good surveillance for a small fee. With In walking distance of the Bill Graham venue. Courtyard, pool area very cute- comfy lounge vibes. Room was very clean, with comfy beds! Easy entry for guests and yummy complimentary treats in the lobby. Staff was extremely personable, gave great recommendations of the area and made our stay so pleasant! Would definitely stay again! Above and beyond customer service :)

A microwave or mini fridge option in the room would have been a nice addition.

The staff were phenomenal! I am traveling with my 11 year old daughter, and we both felt completely safe and comfortable with them. My daughter is apprehensive of speaking to new people, but they all met her with kindness and friendliness that made her open up. We both loved learning some of the history of the place, which is extremely well maintained, the staff all seemed genuinely excited to share the information. I can not say enough good things about the Phoenix! They are all Rockstars Thank you to you and all your staff for your hospitality.

I wish the weather was warmer, so I would have been more inclined to enjoy the pool as much as my daughter. I can't fault the Phoenix for that, though. We enjoyed our stay there, thoroughly.

We loved the Vibe and the old motel/Hotel setting! It was very clean and thr pool temp was great after a long day of walking! The Best was Robert at the front desk! So friendly and helpful. We lost a blanket and he stayed after work and went through all the sheets himself to look for us! He was so kind and went way beyond what any manager would do! Everyone there was friendly and we are looking forward to going back.

We loved everything about our stay!

Always a pleasure to stay at the Phoenix! We love how friendly the staff are, and the overall vibe of the hotel. It's got a great pool that they keep heated. The rooms are clean and modern and the beds are comfortable.

The area around the hotel can be a bit dodgy, so if you have to walk around make sure you keep your head on a swivel and don't leave any valuables in your car. Its hard to see so many people struggling on the streets, but once you're in the hotel you feel very safe and relaxed. It's truly an oasis!

This Hotel was the highlight-stay-over of our road trip - beautiful hidden gem in the more suburban area of San Francisco - incredible friendly staff. The hotel Manager Orlando took really good care of us! The hotel is situated in the area of SF where you find more homeless people. We always felt safe and we actually loved the edge, its part of the suburban experience and made the place even more special. Great courtyard with regular DJ's and parties in a super relaxt vibe. This is from now on 'our place to stay' whenever in SF!

My friend and I thought the beds were some of the most comfortable we've ever slept in at a hotel. The heated pool was fantastic and I was the only one in it since it was "winter" there. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The parking lot is easily accessible and a great price.

It took a while for the room to heat up the first night. Also, the block going south and the block going east are VERY sketchy. Once you go just a few blocks south, it's City Hall and the Ballet and the Symphony, but the immediate vicinity has a lot of people smoking crack. If this will bother you, you might want to stay somewhere else.

A fun place: old-school motel fixed up nicely in a hipster kinda way :) Kids loved the pool -- the courtyard is as cool and inviting a place to sit as it looks in the photos.

Only downside is the that the neighborhood is a little more gritty than some people might be comfortable with. But inside the property was clean and felt totally safe. Not that we had any issues walking around, even after dark -- it's a pretty easy 10-min walk to the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium (we came to SF to see a concert there). But definitely a little edgier than someplace like Northbeach, or the more touristy parts of town.

The Phoenix Hotel is a beautiful hotel ran by kind people! I love the customer service and vibe of this hotel. it is also perfect for social media posts.

the only thing I can say is not the best about this hotel is it’s location but I’m from the area and work in a area like this so I’m used to it and I know that it’s not the hotel or it’s staffs fault. the city just needs to focus on cracking down on public drug use and selling and helping the homeless find shelter. it’s more sad then scary.

So cool, such amazing staff, total oasis, very comfortable and good value, excellent bar, great coffee and pool

Same as just about every other review - the homeless situation around the hotel is upsetting. I didn’t feel unsafe at all but you are squarely confronted with the social problems as soon as you leave the hotel. But checking my privilege and if it spurs me into action then it is good to be confronted by it.
