Mai Chau Ecolodge is situated about 1km from the main Mai Chau town and is a haven of peace from the busy main street of the town. We arrived just as the sun was going down and had the most fabulous view across the rice paddies, from the balcony on our bungalow. The bungalow was spacious and well presented, tidy and clean. We had a bath and shower, with plenty of hot water. The staff here were very gentle, friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our time here.

We ate dinner at their restaurant on the first night, but I'm sorry to say, that it was only average - I think they'd "Westernised" to food too much and it was a little bland. The breakfast, the next morning was good, with plenty of options at their buffet.

Staff was exceptional. Very welcoming, great help, and made our stay for just under a week an very memorable experience for our family. We had to visit the local hospital and they sent a local Staff member with us to help and translate. That was truly great and highly appreciated. We stayed in different type of rooms, all were nice. Pool including private pools were clean, fresh water every other day or so and we noticed emptying and refilling after guest left. So we do not recognize the comment about pools that we not clean. Food was good. Staff in various departments, housekeeping, reception, massage, security and restaurant all fantastic. Reliable with transfers etc. Highly recommended.

The setting in the middle of nature, away from the aerea in Lac where most visitors and tour buses stay, was so peaceful. Our room overlooking the rice fields were beautiful. If you come across this review, don’t look any further. The staff is super friendly and the pool a nice way to relax after the ‘’must bike tour” around the villages. The evening show of the Thai dancers was a nice touch.

If you have an issue walking up stairs, this might be an issue. Our room which had an amazing view, but had many steps up to the pool, reception and restaurant above the reception. Not a problem at all for us, but worth mentioning.

The place, the staff, the facilities, everything is top notch! Everyone is very friendly, the rooms and views are stunning, the spa is great, the restaurant is beautiful.

The food options for vegetarians are quite limited. Then, really not the hotel's fault, there's loud karaoke in a hotel in the valley nearby every single night. It ends early enough around 10pm but it doesn't fit the otherwise tranquil and serene atmosphere of the hotel. Also not the hotel's fault but worth a disclaimer, there really isn't much to do in Mai Chau except walk or cycle through the valley. It's beautiful but not exciting or very diverse. So if you want stimulation, you shouldn't stay too long. If you want to relax in a stunning environment without too much activity, then this is your place!

Best place to stay in Mai Chau. We loved our stay. The photos on booking.com do not do the rooms and ecolodge justice. It is so lovely. Food at the restaurant was delicious but pricey, however as we only had a short stay this was fine. There are other restaurants a short bike ride away in the town. Amazing breakfast, pool and gardens. Free bicycles were so fun to explore the area.

Staff were lovely, however we did have an issue on our check out with booking a taxi to get to our bus however think this was just a miscommunication and we managed to sort this out.

Beautiful location. Lots of cycling possible from the ecolodge, with breathtaking scenery. If you want to cycle for a longer ride, bring your own bike with gears- ecolodge only has (small) singlegear bikes. Lovely staff. Excellent restaurant.

Unfortunately there was a very noisy event going on in the neighbouring village for the two days we were here, which somewhat disrupted the idyllic peace we were hoping for. Not the fault of the ecolodge of course, hopefully for the ecolodge this will not happen too often.

It was nice to get out into the countryside, enjoy the fresh air & meet the friendly people. The free bikes are a great way to explore the area. There are several restaurants, bars & shops only a short ride away. We did walk around one night so appreciated the torches in our room & stayed in one night enjoying the traditional dance show. The staff are very helpful with suggestions & arranging activities.

Two of our rooms overlooked a power transmission box which detracted from the otherwise peaceful view. To enjoy the outdoor balconies remember to bring bug spray.

The views and the environment were very nice. You could feel you were immersed in nature. The room was very big and we had some chairs also to sit outside. The hotel seems well maintained. I'm not sure why some reviews commented that it is very outdated. Maybe because some wooden furniture is not the newest ones, but is ok. They offer free bikes to explore the villages, which was great, but be careful about which one you choose as not all of them work properly. The food was also good, we had lunch dinner, but the best was the breakfast. They offered many options, even some cooked on the spot. The staff is very kind and even if not all of them speak super fluent English, they try their best, so be patient! At reception, you can ask some lemon grass spray for the night for mosquitos.

The main doors of the room have some space from the floor, so I thought some insects could come in the room, but actually, it was not the case. We stayed one night tough. I would have appreciated it if they had offered some repellent light in the room as some other hotel do. I am usually very scared to find insects, but I was lucky :) I did an extensive research before booking in Mau chau, but this was the best place to stay!

The property is nice and the surrounding area is nice, the staff was friendly and the bed was comfortable.

Too expensive for what you get, especially in Vietnam, the rooms and bathrooms looked a lot nicer in the pictures. The pool has no handicap accessibility for an older couple. The breakfast was ok, not the best. Lunch and Dinner were ok, but we felt it was too expensive, but there really are no other choices around, unless you have your own transportation. Transportation is outrageous, if you’re unable to use, bikes, or their motor scooters they will call for an electric car, but they charge too much for being in Vietnam, we were paying less than $2 everywhere in Hanoi for Grab cars, here nothing less than $7 for a five minute ride, so If you’re unable to walk to town, as we were, be prepared to be paying a bit for transportation.

From the time I entered the reception until the time I left, I had a fantastic experience. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The whole resort was looked after well and my room was very clean. The complimentary gifts in the room were unusual but a great addition. The bed was the comfiest bed I think I have ever slept on. There were free bikes which you could use to visit the nearby villages and to ride around the rice fields. The breakfast had a lot of Vietnamese and Western dishes to choose from.

Nothing. It was one of the best place I have ever stayed in.
