The friendliness and welcoming attitude of the staff. Nothing was a problem and they accommodated all our requests where possible. The room was spacious, immaculate and cosy. We were fortunate that the day was not super hot as it has been so it was nice to be in the room. However, if it was a 35 degree day, the room I imagine would get really stuffy as the windows only open a few inches (for safety reasons) and there is only a small table fan. The beds were divine and if you're just having a chill day it is a great place to get lost in. The shower is tremendously spacious and the pressure was steady. The restaurant and bar are top notch in service, cocktails and quality and flavour of the food. The common balcony on the first floor was a lovely spot for a "sun downer" overlooking Mt Victoria.

ohhhhh.... the internet was woeful. Failure to connect, constant drop outs, speeds not seen since the days of dial up. However, that's my only gripe in the big scheme of things. If you're there to unwind, detox from tech or go bush walking, this would not even be an issue. I like to watch Netflix before bed, what can I say.

The staff and food were excellent. Dinner was delicious and fresh. Rooms beautiful and well appointed using the old world charm of the building. Bar, restaurant and library superb and we sat in front of the fire to relax after dinner. Our servers were personable , friendly, quick and efficient and made us feel welcome and at home. The property has so much history and we loved thet it is also a social enterprise in addition to being a fabulous hotel with great atmosphere. Breakfast had great variety and was again fresh, well cooked, and delicious. Located in the middle of things to do and easy walks to pretty places and attractions like the station and museum. We loved it and will be back soon!

The only thing we found a little difficult was the shower - it was a removable gadget which wouldn't stay in the cradle when on strong enough to shower, so we had to hold it.

Lovely hotel with a history. Super friendly staff, good and healthy breakfast, clean and spacious room.

Some design faults : 1) The ceiling-mounted bedside lamps are too low, the lamp covers are either face-touching or shoulder-touching when we stood near. 2) The two table surfaces beside the bed are also too low. They are ergonomically unfriendly, uncomfortable to work on the laptop while sitting on a chair. 3) Power sockets are underneath the low table surfaces. We almost had to crawl to plug in our charging adaptors, very uncomfortable. 4) While the window curtains are beautiful, but we don't understand why they are probably two feet too long. The excess fabric lying on the floor can be accident-prone.

We were so happy to find this little place in Mount Victoria. We traveled by car but the hotel is very close to the train station. We both enjoyed every bit of staying there. Our room was very clean, quiet and comfortable. The staff members were busy working hard and training at the same time but provided us with a very warm professional services. Quiet candle light dinner was very nice and food was tasty. Surroundings of the hotel is also very peaceful. Thank you all for your hospitality.

Nothing to mention

Hotel Etico was a lovely place to stay! Very peaceful but also extremely close to the train station and highway, so accessible whether you get the train like I did or drive there. The hotel is a beautiful 19th century manor house and has been kept relatively period accurate but with more bedrooms for guests. The food was great, and I was especially glad with how well I was catered for as a Coeliac with breakfasts. There was a dedicated toaster on a separate side table that was only brought out when I came down for breakfast to ensure no cross contamination, which is far beyond the level of effort most places put in to catering for dietary needs. All the staff were great and friendly, and the atmosphere was truly lovely.

The one thing that was ok for me but could be a drawback for some was the relatively low level of light inside. The lighting complemented the age and style of the manor house very well, but would be difficult for someone with vision impairment to manage.

-Exceptionally friendly staff and amazing hospitality -Superb dinner and great breakfast, excellent value for money for the meals -Heritage building has been well maintained -All our special requests made including iron, low pillow, etc. were catered to -Live music band on Friday evening.

-Given that the window of the heritage rooms don't open, the room may feel a bit stuffy. However there are chairs in the corridor where one can sit and enjoy the fresh air.

1. Great value for money! You can't ask for a better deal than $275 per night for 5 people with an awesome breakfast included. 2. Such an iconic place with so much care taken maintaining the authenticity of its architecture and heritage. It's a very rare find with a bistro, formal dining area, a bar, a dance floor and accommodation facilities conglomerate so effortlessly into one historic setting. 3. You can't help but appreciate the social contribution the operators make. They employ young people with disabilities as trainees, not only nurturing life skills, but, also giving them the opportunity to be independent and build confidence in socialising with customers. No wonder the place was popular with the locals over the weekend.

It's hard to bring the facilities on par with modern hotels, due to the age of the property, but, simple things like having modern shower/bathroom fittings, amenities such as an iron, etc. could broaden the client base significantly. If you hold comfort and convenience as a priority, this may not be for you. They weren't deal breakers for us as there were so many positives that outweighed the negatives.

We had a wonderful stay and thank you to all the staff and trainees who are doing a marvellous job. We were struck by the warmth and caring way the trainees were instructed and how eager they were to make us feel welcome. The whole hotel had a feeling of optimism for the future for these young people. We hope that other hotels use Etico’s example for their establishments to make our society more inclusive for people with special needs. The continental breakfast was substantial & delicious. We dined in the restaurant & very much enjoyed the generous and delicious food. Thank you.

The location was great. Rooms were nicely furnished. I got a room with a bath in the bathroom.

Breakfast was very disappointing. The selection was extremely limited and basic. The pastries were dreadful (I took one bite out of each and they were both dreadful), they were as hard as rocks. Even the lady in charge commented that she noticed people were not eating the pastries, but leaving them with one bite taken. This is especially bad because breakfast was included in the room rates for the 4 rooms that I had booked and paid for for my friends, family and I, we were there for two nights and therefore two breakfasts, (and there is only one other place to go in Mt. Victoria for breakfast which is Piccolo Deli and its very small).

I wish there are more social enterprises like this! The staff were all so lovely and patient and kind in training their “younglings”. Everyone was just sweet and understanding with the trainees too. The grounds are beautiful and spacious, spring has just sprung on our visit. We enjoyed the continental breakfast choices of crumpets, misfits, toast, cheese, cold cuts, fruit, yoghurt and of course, the quintessential Vegemite!

To manage expectations, should you want to sleep in, the rooms aren’t super sound-proof (I mean it’s a heritage property from the 1800s afterall!), don’t have blackout curtains and breakfast ends at 9.30am.
