Loved this property because it was a great access to the east coast (Bicheno, St Helens & Bay of Fires etc). East coast accommodation was very expensive. St Mary’s enabled us to wind down, get our laundry done at the nearby laundromat, enjoy our surroundings & drive into the bushland. Our host was friendly & helpful, the bistro was good, musicians provided good entertainment & the old hotel itself has had wonderful renovations. We had 2 nights here & it was a fantastic choice on our part - a delightful surprise! Breakfast was also included in the dining room - cereals, toast, tea & coffee - help yourself!
No complaints at all - would certainly stay here again.

Excellent location, extremely friendly and lovely staff; we also had dinner in the bar where the food is really nice and very reasonably priced. The "do-it-yourself" breakfast is simple, good, and well thought out. The small rooms are clean and nice and despite the large number of rooms/hosts, the night was surprisingly quiet and respectful. We loved the general "vintage"/family hotel spirit, and the beautiful floral stained glass of the entrance and breakfast room.
The shared bathroom and toilets, far away from the rooms at the end of the corridors, aren't ideal, of course, but they're well kept and we knew what we were buying. This is the only point that explains the relatively low price, which makes it really good value for money.

Spotless clean, very friendly staff, tea and coffee provided, as well as simple breakfast. Warm (rooms have heaters!), very quiet, even though there was live music down at the pub. Very cosy. Quick WiFi. We were almost the only guests. Great value for money, I would definitely stay again.
One toilet didn't flush properly. Hairdryer wasn't provided, even though it was in the pictures.

Great location. Great value for money. Classic country hotel. Hawaiian Parma & pot for $20 !! $45 each for a twin room, including self service cereal/toast brekkie. Lounge with TV for guests. Fabulous hot, good pressure shower ! Very quiet. Close to lovely Cafe, fascinating old museum... shortish drive to other attractions. What's not to like!
Beds could've been more comfy.

Comfortable bed, friendly staff. My room had a basin. The hotel offered free continental breakfast, and you can also buy delicious pub food for dinner.
Dinner time could get busy, so you might have to wait for your food. But you could also use that time to have a good convo. Since it's a functioning pub, bring a pair of ear plug for their busier nights.

The fireplace in the dining room was so welcoming as were the staff. The menu was very comprehensive and the food was delicious. Our room was quite small but there was a shared lounge room plus the downstairs kitchen area with complimentary breakfast. This accomodation was very affordable.
There were loud party goers in the.beer garden outside our window. There were enough empty rooms on the other side of the hotel which would have allowed us a quieter night.

The Bistro meals are very generously sized and tasty. Self-serve breakfast was continental, adequate and available from early hours which was handy. Shared bathroom was fine and the towels lovely and thick. Staff were very helpful and friendly and the fire in the bistro area/lounge bar was very welcoming.
Bedroom lamp didn't reach the available plug which was a bit weird.

Helpful and welcoming staff on check-in. Clear directions about where to find showers, breakfast and entry after hours. Very much appreciated autumn season electric blanket on the bed. Exceptional array of freshly laundered towels of higher quality than one would expect for the money paid. Extremely good room rate.

Really clean and comfortable. Had dinner there, the best Lasgna ever. I headed off very early and was able to grab myself breakfast before leaving. Very accommodating.
Just the obvious, it’s an old building with a creaky floor.

Great location, lovely old hotel. Owners and staff were very helpful giving local insights. Room clean and comfortable. Shower and toilet are shared, but very clean.
Accomodation was a bit noisey, not really the hotels fault but other guests not taking into account the old hotel and that noise will travel. Still got a good night sleep
