The breakfast was a nice addition to our stay, nice selection of fruit, cereals, pastries, bacon & eggs. The location is fantastic, just a short walk from the Skybus/Southern Cross Station and within easy walking distance to many great restaurants, bars, cafes, etc. The room was very clean and nicely presented and appears relatively new/refurbished. Staff were friendly and helpful. The block out blinds are excellent if you are a shift worker or you had a late one and need a good sleep in.

There is a Damages bond that you must pay, and the hotel holds onto this bond for 7 to 10 business days. This is not ideal with such a large time to return your money seeing the room would be cleaned and assessed on the day you leave, really unsure how this arrangement works. Although it did not bother my partner and I, the shower/bathroom is surrounded by frosted glass. If someone is showering, then you can make out their silhouette. This was something that didn't bother us, but other may want to consider.

I asked one staff if they have tour services and he was very shocked by my question . he replied that this hotel is only express unlike big hotels so they don't provide. said I have to go online to book search info for myself. 3. when I went to use washer service at basement, out of 4 machine , only 1 was working. 4. no water bottle and indoor slippers but is ok.

I really enjoyed staying in this hotel. The bedroom looked nice and had a lovely view of the city. The bed was large and comfortable. The location was great, close to Southern Cross Station and 2 min to tram stops. The bathroom was clean and beautiful. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Pinky in particular was exceptional. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience.

We didn't like the breakfast at all. The eggs had too much cream or something else in them, they made me queasy. The pastries tasted like they were from the day before or before. Very limited fruit and healthy options. Very crowded. The bathroom walls were made of opaque glass, which is not great for privacy. No one wants to see someone else on the toilet.

Great facilities . Breakfast included in the rate was varied and fresh, always topped up. Location is very convenient, walk distance from many trams/trains stops and city trademarks. Good size rooms. Shower is good, all the amenities are included. Bed is ok (spring bed, not my personal choice). Friendly staff.

Housekeeping could give more attention to cleaning. Overall is clean, but better cleaning would make the experience a 10/10. During our stay the cups/ glasses were not changed and I noticed rubbish that was not removed .Bathroom definitely needs deeper cleaning. Previous guest hair claw left on side bed, makes me wonder that housekeeping did not do a deep cleaning before we check in and attention to detail is low.

*A very clean and comfortable hotel located within walking distance to the free tram network and Southern Cross Station. It was simple to navigate our way around the City from the hotel. *The choice of two pillows; soft or firm or both. *The lock on the hotel door which makes women feel safer at night. *The shower and instant hot water each day. *The free breakfast 😋 I especially appreciated being looked after with gluten-free bread delivered to my table each morning! (thank you kindly). *Coles supermarket was nearby which met our dinner requirements. There was an option to order through the hotel also. *The room attendants couldn't be faulted, and they changed our towelling often, so it was always clean and dry (thank you). *The staff were wonderful and made our weeks stay most enjoyable.

*Not enough clothes hangers. *Light in wardrobe/luggage rack needed replacing so it was too dark to see. *Window blind was broken (still functioned though).

We absolutely LOVED the breakfast there was so much choice some dishes changed each day (we were 3 nights) the staff were so efficient in keeping food topped up and dishes cleared could not fault it! Such great value for money included in the hotel price and such a beautiful clean dining room to eat at as well. Would definitely go there for breakfast even if not staying at hotel it was so good!

We honestly could not fault a thing! The room was fabulous the cleaning staff each day did a fantastic job! All of The reception staff were so helpful and friendly day and night nothing was a problem.

The included buffet breakfast was broad in its range of offered food types: mainly Western with both cooked and cold dishes, but there were also some Asian breakfast foods. The location was great being at Melbourne's train hub, and also only metres away from the free CBD trams. The express bus to the airport was also located at the train hub.

My only criticism of the hotel was concerned with the included breakfast. There was a shortage of places at tables, so if you got up to get another coffee you might come back to find that your seat had been taken by another diner in your absence.

The Holiday Inn Express is one of my favourite CBD locations. Very close to Southern Cross station as well a number of tram routes. Within a short stroll there are dinning options or the included buffet breakfast daily. The buffet is pretty standard, well presented with a good range of options from toast, serial, fruit, toasties, tea, coffee, juice, pastries and hit food. Breakfast can be a little busy but I have never not been able to find somewhere to sit. The staff are extremely attentive and keep the food coming and dishes disappearing. The room, I stand in a standard queen, are well presented with ample room. The amenities are well maintained and stocked as well as modern. I personally love the frosted glass bathroom as it allows light in and still you have privacy. The TV is large and easy to stream to as well as having options for standard local TV. Usb and power points on each side of the bed are handy and the light switch you can reach from bed is fantastic. Plenty of hanging space if needed as well as a table and chair, lamp and small couch. Overall very well presented, love the block out blinds and clean.

The catering staff and the catering floor staff are fantastic. This is the main reason I stay at this hotel, to receive breakfast of quality is great.. I find it sad that other patrons that stay there do not engage in any form of conversation with the catering staff, they do a great job continuously cleaning and filling the food as there is a lot of people staying at the hotel. I always make a point to talk to them and thank them for their hard work, and as I leave/checkout I always go and thank them for a great breakfast and hard work keeping up with all their duties for the morning.. I look forward to staying there again in the very near future. It’s Avery convenient hotel for me when I come to Melbourne for sporting events and very comfortable room.. Thanks again

I cannot find anything I don’t like, however the front counter staff had no idea that I had stayed there a number of times, as they said they thought it was my first time instead of my 5th or 6th time.

I absolutely loved my stay here. I spent 1 night for a social event and plan on this being my go-to city hotel for now on. It’s is clean and nicely decorated, my room was beautiful with a great city view (lvl 26) and included a coffee station and large luggage area which was very handy, and a nice clean bathroom with good lighting. The included buffet breakfast was great with a reasonably good variety of foods, especially considering it’s not at an additional charge.

This is nit picking but the only negative thing I could possibly think of is the gentleman who I spoke to at reception on checkout didn’t even smile or say hello.. he just looked at me blankly. Not great customer service. However the lady on check-in was absolutely lovely. Literally nothing else negative to tell.
