Location: very convenient, right at the city centre and opposite Southern Cross station; couple of tram stops nearby as well. Service: friendly staff. Rooms: cleaned regularly. Just a bit too cold, though. I also recommend visiting the V Hotel Spa at the Lower Ground level and try one of their packages. One of the best spa experiences I've ever had! Too bad I didn't get to try the Alexander Bar, though.

They don't provide the basics such as dental/shaving kits, which is a surprise as I've never experienced this in other hotels I have been to. You had to ask for them at reception. Same with bathrobes and slippers - this part I understand, environmental sustainability and all. However, for this kind of hotel, I would expect a simple toothbrush and toothpaste at least to be provided automatically. Bathroom is a bit cramped as well.

The bed was very comfortable. It was a nice touch to have a staff member to manage luggage and although I did not catch his name he was a lovely gentleman and extremely efficient, personable and helpful. I used the bar and ordered dessert and the staff were wonderful. The music in the foyer is wonderful and adds to the feel of the Savoy.

Upon arrival the receptionist who checked me in was not overly friendly and did not smile. It is just a little thing but I usually stay at the Mantra and upon arrival the receptionists are extremely welcoming.

This was a little win at the end of a fabulous stay in Victoria for a family wedding. The Savoy was generous in size, luxury, quality toiletries, fabulous attentive staff, accommodating our requests, location was perfect, an air of tranquillity away from the hustle bustle outside. Super close to public transport. Old world charm and sophistication, at the right price, thank you!

Couldn't operate the coffee pod machine (maybe the pods were incompatible). It was a 40-degree Melbourne stinker - would have loved a hotel pool or an arrangement with a nearby hotel. Not a biggie - would book again in a heartbeat!

This was my second time staying at the Savoy, and I enjoyed every moment. From the welcoming staff at reception, who I recognized from my previous visit, to the spacious rooms equipped with all the essential amenities, everything was perfect. The Savoy is a hotel I highly recommend for its prime location and luxurious vibe.

I agree with many of the reviews regarding the shower—unfortunately, the lack of a door does cause water to get everywhere. This time, I found the breakfast a bit disappointing and wished there were more options available. Despite this, I would still return for future stays.

Excellent location. Access to nearby restaurants. Close to the Southern Cross Station. The Crown Casino is 4 minutes away and an excellent evening location to unwind on the terrace and witness the fireworks plus the spectacular view of the Melbourne CBD skyline. Overall, a hotel with an old-world charm centrally located that offers guests the best of both worlds. A highlight of the visit was the Yarra Valley Wine & Gin tasting tour (please see attached pics)

Could not find anything that could have been better. Staff were friendly and helpful, room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was excellent, the ambience was delightful. What more can anyone ask for?

The location was superb. We arrived to a beautiful card and a bottle of bubbly wishing us 3 sisters happy birthdays. The rooms were fantastic overlooking the Southern cross ststion on the 9th floor and the location second to none. The gentleman barman on Sunday night made the most amazing cocktails and was so polite and attentive. The hotel organised our departure taxi for us and we could not fault the service. We were greeted every time we entered the lobby, which always smelt divine.

The female bartender on Friday was a nightmare. She never smiled and when we went to request a bucket of ice, she snapped at us to wait. As a previous hotel owner myself, if you can't be polite and smiling in a customer service position, perhaps a different profession would be an idea. She slopped around the Alexander Bar in workbooks that looked too big and with a scowl on her face the entire 3 hours we sat there eating and drinking while our rooms were made ready. This was my only gripe and she really ruined the experience of the Alexander Bar until Sunday night for us.

A lovely, stylish and traditional hotel which is located centrally to Melbourne. The Skybus arrives across the road only a few hundred meters away which makes the journey from the airport an easy option. It also has fantastic access to the city, shopping and both train and tram lines. The room was spacious and very comfortable with a large kind size bed, decent size television and a bathroom ensuite with an awesome shower. Breakfast was a delight with many options. We loved the ground floor bar which was well patronised and gave a nice place to enjoy a drink of an evening.

There was nothing to dislike about this hotel... I wish we could have stayed longer.

We stayed at this hotel for one night, and it left a wonderful impression. The hotel is very cozy and boasts an excellent central location in a great area of Melbourne, with everything within walking distance. It’s just a 1-minute walk from Southern Cross Station, and the free Tourist Tram (Route 35) stops just a couple of minutes away. The lobby is spacious and inviting, setting the tone for the rest of the hotel. I was particularly impressed with our unique, two-story room—it was large, impeccably clean, and beautifully designed. The sleeping area on the upper level was cozy and comfortable. The room also included thoughtful amenities like slippers, plush bathrobes, a coffee machine, and a selection of coffee and tea. The staff even provided us with a power adapter, as we had European plugs, which was a lifesaver! Breakfast was fresh, delicious, and offered a great variety, including flavorful coffee, fresh fruits, pastries, yogurt, muesli, and hot dishes. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and welcoming, making our stay even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel and would love to stay here again if the opportunity arises!

We liked the art deco finishes in the hotel and the recorded jazz played in the lobby. The lobby had a nice ambience. We had a couple of dinners in the restaurant - the vegetarian linguini was beautiful. The location was great - a short walk to the Sky Bus terminal and Spencer St Station, and just two blocks from the free tram. Having breakfast included in the price made getting going in the mornings very easy. We changed rooms during this stay as the first room (inside facing) was very dark - Brad at reception explained to us the difference between inside facing and outside facing rooms. He very kindly changed us to another room, which was outside facing, had huge windows, and was very light and lovely. Thanks again, Brad! If we stayed there again, we would request an outside room, as they are lighter and have full-size showers, not showers over the bath.

The breakfast was very mediocre. The scrambled eggs were so sloppy you almost needed a spoon to eat them. Sometimes the cooked food was cold, and hadn't been replenished. The inside facing room where we stayed the first few nights was very dark, even with all the table lamps on (there were no ceiling lights). It made reading very difficult. The bathroom in the outside facing room was very small. The bathroom in the inside facing room had a shower over the bath. The side of the bath was quite high to climb over. We were unable to control the temperature in the room.

I was surprised at how modern and classy all the furniture and decor was. Makes it feel like 5 star. The staff were lovely. The room was a good size to fit suitcase and also walk around. Everything was clean and comfortable. I was also able to adjust the air conditioning perfectly. The iron was better than my one at home. Buffet breakfast was nice, basic but food was tasty. Cocktails at thr Bar were delicious. I was there 2 nights for work, and I'd stay again for pleasure as it's the ideal location for a Melbourne city stay. Everything is walking distance. Free tram zone.

Pillows were too soft. There is no option to log in to streaming services on the TV.
