The location is perfect as it borders old-town Plovdiv on one side, and the long shopping street "Knyaz Alexander I" on the other, where in minutes you reach great shops, restaurants and terraces. The Roman bath house discovered in the basement during the hotel's 6 years of rebuilding and renovation, was integrated into the hotel with great care by the new owners after Plovdiv's archaeological excavation. The atmosphere of Roman times can also be found in the beautifully decorated courtyard where you can enjoy your breakfast or lunch. The luxurious atmosphere, intimate service and unique style, combined with up-to-date modern furnished rooms and bathrooms makes staying in this hotel a great and unforgettable experience, more than just an overnight stay. Both the owners, the entire staff of Villa Flavia, including the cleaning ladies, are extremely customer-friendly. They are always ready to help or answer your questions, and always up for a pleasant chat. Although for certain reasons the hotel is rated as a 3-star hotel (e.g. because they do not have that many rooms), Villa Flavia definitely deserves a 5 star rating in our opinion. We stayed there for 10 nights (3 + 7), and will definitely return to this hotel on every future visit to Plovdiv.

There was absolutely nothing to complain about.

Truly an original hotel which the owners have substantially invested in. There are stunning Roman ruins below the building and the manager offers daily tours after breakfast. Location of hotel is ideal and pretty close to everything in Plovdiv. Very happy with breakfasts (we were there 5 nights which I think is probably unusual).

Very little to find fault with. Only grumble is that the hotel operate a very unusual scheme of free minibar (very nice) but only one coffee capsule for the stay. Additional capsules were chargeable. I would have much preferred a kettle with teabags being replaced daily at no cost. Seems like a small inexpensive change that would suit most visitors

Absolutely top class! The hotel is in a perfect location Shops, restaurants, bars and the cultural heart of the city are just a few metres away although, the hotel itself is tucked away in a quiet street which means you get a good night's sleep. The staff are so friendly and helpful and our comfort was paramount. The reception staff are always smiling and nothing is too much trouble. There's a bar which also serves snacks which we liked and was very convenient. Breakfast is varied and plentiful and we loved sitting in the conservatory to enjoy it. The rooms are clean, comfortable and well equipped with everything you could need. An added bonus are the ancient Roman baths which the hotel is built on! We had a free, private tour. It was totally amazing! Car parking is secure and only 2 minutes walk away. There's a car park charge of 25 lev per day but parking can be difficult in Plovdiv so we were more than happy to pay. All in all, a perfect stay. This was our fifth time in Plovdiv and the best hotel by far. We will definitely stay again. Thank you to the wonderful staff.

Everything was perfect!

A great place to stay. A perfect mixture of ancient architecture, cosy interiors and high tech. I liked the whole concept very much. The owners have put love and a lot of thought in it. The breakfast is small, but offers everything you need at a top quality level. Best orange juice I had in years! The staff ist very friendly and helpful. They all speak English, too. Don’t miss out on the house tour to the ancient cellar! The hotel is located right in the middle of everything. It’s just 2 minutes to the longest pedestrian walk I have seen so far. Shopping is close by. Cafes and restaurants are close by. Even the old town is right around the corner.

The stay was truly lovely, memorable and relaxing! Prior to arrival, I have already felt the warm hospitality from the Villa Flavia team via message communication. Upon arrival, their welcome drink and helpful infos put me at ease after a long journey on road. Then it was a jaw-dropping surprise to learn the next day from the owner that an ancient Roman thermal bath was excavated during the construction of the hotel! And the archeological site situates right at the hotel basement! I have spent some lovely quiet time at the basement, the rooftop (viewing sunrise, sunset and spotting the nearby ancient Roman theatre of Philippopolis), the patio/garden and my own balcony. Throughout my stay, I most enjoyed the very eyes-pleasingly colourful, nutritious and delicious breakfasts. Of note, I was particularly touched by the owner and team who took my feedback and concern regarding a restaurant seriously with immediate follow up actions. In short, feeling fortunate and thankful to be staying in Villa Flavia under a team who consistently shows hospitality, deep care and professionalism in every aspect. GREAT JOB team Villa Flavia!!

This hotel is absolutely beautiful! The rooms are designed in a very nice elegant way. Everything is immaculately clean. The little garden at the back is beautiful and cozy. The rooftop is specious and offers beautiful views of Plovdiv and the mountains. The breakfast is very well presented with different choices.Food was delicious! The staff were amazing! Very friendly and helpful. Stella in particular was excellent! The bonus was the historical tour of the hotel, which was very interesting and we had the pleasure to meet the owner of the hotel. If you would like to have a unique, beautiful experience full of history and comfort this hotel is the right choice! This was one of the best hotels we have ever been. Absolute pleasure and we will be back! Thank you for the lovely stay!

This hotel is just awesome and the best we’ve been so far! It is very clean and cosy, and the staff members were very welcoming and friendly all the time! The room was very well maintained and looked basically new. The furniture is made to fit and very stylish! The bed was so comfortable that we decided to ask the owners for the mattress and pillows brand, so we can have the same for our own bedroom at home. The linen was so soft and new as well, really a pleasure to have a relaxing night! Even though the hotel is located on a busy street we enjoyed a quiet and peaceful days and nights, without any disturbing street noise! The cosmetics provided in the bathroom are from Rituals and were just great! The mini bar drinks and beverages are from top brands and are complimentary and free, and moreover the mini bar was replenished daily, something we’ve experienced for a first time! The breakfast area is arranged daily in the lobby and the food is top notch, including variety of desserts that were different every day. One very special treat was the barista making amazing coffee on demand! We were having lattes every day and really enjoyed them! The garden is very quiet and cosy, with lots of greens and fresh look. There are also a few pillars from the Roman Empire that were found in the building foundations and a very symbolic sculpture for the hotel that have a great story behind, all this adds to the charm of the garden! The hotel owner took us on a tour in the hotel’s foundations, where we seen a Roman Empire remains of a public bath dating 1800 years ago. The bath is well preserved and is partially restored, also featuring fully developed and innovative heating system for the time. The tour was very interesting with lots of facts and details for the archeological discoveries not only in the hotel but in the whole city too, and ended up with the interesting story about the garden’s sculpture!

The service and staff at Villa Flavia are absolutely top notch. I really hope they are paid handsomely for all the work they do and for the way they treat the guests - always with a smile and happy to help. The room was spacious and warm and had everything we needed for two nights; the bed was very big, which was great. Bathroom was great and very clean. The garden is a magical place where I want to stay all the time and if you ever go there, take the tour of the Roman bathhouse ruins and learn of the history of the hotel!

We stayed at a room which door was next to the stairwell, which was not ideal, but thankfully, there weren't many guests at the time to make a lot of noise.

Everything is perfect with this place! Location is extraordinary, you do not have to move your car, you can walk to every main attractions and restaurants within 5-6 mins walking max. Staff is perfect!! Very friendly and helpful for everything! They already prepared the bed for our kid upon our arrival, they help us for dinner reservation.(P.s: They already have printed recommendation list for the best restaurants) Rooms were so clean, so cozy you feel like home, really loved it!! The hotel has living history inside and they inform you with a tour after breakfast, it was first time that we have all experienced something like that. This hotel will be our only choice whenever we are in Plovdiv! Thank you all! We are looking forward to be back!

Everything - from the warm welcome on arrival to help with taxi leaving it was exceptional.. Location - 2 minute walk to main shopping street and all tourist sites were within walking distance. Beautifully appointed rooms and bathroom and lovely breakfast area with courtyard. Very secure as locked up in evening & need room key to get in. Bedrooms - excellent lighting & air con. Comfy beds with quality bedding. Good blackout curtains and lovely flooring. Coffee machine which we didn't use as we're tea drinkers so asked for kettle. Free minibar was an unexpected bonus. Great hairdryer which is unusual for most hotels. Bathrooms - big walk in shower with high quality toiletries provided - in my favourite scent! Good lighting above mirror. Breakfast - plenty of variety of good quality and it was lovely to eat it outside in the courtyard. The roman ruins under the hotel and the guided tour was an added bonus you won't get anywhere else. Its clear the family have put much thought and effort into their hotel and we loved it! We're sorry we only had 2 nights.

Nothing. If we wanted to be really picky we'd have preferred to have mugs for our tea but made do with espresso cups already in the room. I'm sure they'd have been provided if we'd asked for them but as we only had 1 more night it was fine. Maybe provide mugs automatically with kettle when one is requested?
