This is a lovely hotel with an amazing staff; they are initiative, communicative and available. Beds are comfortable, duvets are the perfect weight. The connected restaurant ( breakfast included) serves excellent coffee and locally sourced fresh food. Centrally located, The Lion is within walking of cultural activities, historic buildings, and shopping. Money exchange is easy and close. There is really nothing not to love about this beautiful hotel! Staff is the very best and went out of their way to be available; Vladimir took an afternoon off to take us personally to the Rila Monastery! Made a great trip exceptional! A wonderful experience!

There isn’t any negative about this hotel.

It is a hotel in a very good location, not far from the city centre, Vitosha Boulevard and other attractions such as the Women's Market. The rooms are spacious, there is air conditioning. Parking is possible in the adjacent streets in parking zones, munucipality Sofia has created a special application for this. The hotel has its own pleasant café with a garden on the square by the Lion's Bridge, breakfast here is served ala carte, every choice is interesting and good. For the real strongmen and for energy for the day, I recommend trying the shakshuka.

Close to Sofia Central train and bus stations and metro stations are nearby. Have of the metro is above ground in Sofia however the engineers design it so you can not see the city as you come in from the airport. The metro from the airport is fast and very inexpensive forget taxi/bus shuttles check routes on the internet before visiting Sofia and write down the Bulgarian spelling for desired stops forget Romance spelling as Bulgaria signs mostly are in Bulgaria/Russian alphabet If possible ask information or count the desired number of stops to your desired stop.

Booking.com hotel maps are problems to print in a good scale

The room is quite big and everything was clean. I did have problems with my air con, but after mentioning it at the reception, it was fixed. There's an elevator, so no issues with stairs. It's about 25 minutes walk from the cathedral. The cafe downstairs is great (called 1920) and if you cross over the Lions Bridge, there's an Italian restaurant there that serves great food, but cash only. If you're a single female traveller, it's not close to the main sights if you walk home at night

As a single female traveller, I would probably prefer somewhere closer to the sights and restaurants, especially for walking home at night. No problems through the day .

The location of the hotel is excellent: metro, tram and bus stops in front of the house, grocery stores next door and the large market in sight. Room cleaning very attentive. I also appreciate the 24-hour reception desk. The cost-effectiveness is hard to beat.

The breakfast is quite hearty and takes a long time getting used to. I recommend the hotel to offer a plate of continental breakfast!

The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Our room had a good view of the lion bridge. The breakfast was in a cafe next door and had a good choice of items which were delicious especially the shakshuka.

Even though there was a kettle and a coffee maker in the room The coffee pods and teabags were never restocked

Absolute highlight is the caffe 1920 where the breakfast is served, we really enjoyed the great food and decor and also went there for lunch. Hotel was good, room had a nice size, water pressure in the bathroom was great and it was not noisy as we had a room overlooking the inner courtyard (although this is why the view was not the best). Good distance to the train station and city center.

The restaurant opens at 8 so we missed the breakfast on the day we had a tour booked. They did however prepare us a sandwich. The cleanlines of the room on arrival could have been better.

Great location right next to Lions Bridge and metro for easy access to bus/train station/airport. Easy walking distance to centre, supermarket opposite and other shops and restaurants close by. The rooms are spacious , modern and well equipped with comfortable beds, towels and free toiletries, fridge & minibar, a kettle ( but unfortunately no tea or coffee provided). The hotel, despite being on a busy street is surprisingly quiet and you can sleep well. There is a good and popular cafe attached to the hotel offering a breakfast menu. I’d say the hotel is probably one of the best value in Sofia.

Excellent location for exploring the city. Well connected to public transportation, plenty of shops and cafes nearby. For us, one of the highlights was the breakfast in the award winning cafe 1920 next door. A young friendly team prepares a good selection of breakfast items, including some vegan choices, freshly made for you. They even offer freshly pressed juice on demand and very good coffees. The rooms towards the back were quiet and allow you to open the window without hearing the noises from the street below.

The carpet is outdated and needs attention. It is not 100 percent accessible as you have to climb some stairs to reach the elevator which can be a problem for people with restricted mobility.
