It is a very welcoming, stylish and comfortable hotel with excellent, English speaking staff and services, for those of us who try to speak French but aren't there yet. The location could not be better. The breakfast was very good and there is a great bar area for coffee, tea or drinks. Rooms are spacious and very comfortable. Cleaning staff offered a new bottle of still and sparkling water each day.

Minor complaint but as a coffee drinker I do not understand why there is only "Semi-skimmed milk" to add to the espresso that is available from the great machines at the breakfast counter. I don't know if that means 2% milk but regular whole milk, light cream, or half-n-half would be much appreciated.

The location was very good with close proximity to the shops, markets and restaurants. We liked the room and the good lighting in the bathroom. There was a kettle in the room which is more of an exception than the rule and 2 bottles of complimentary water. We had a very nice meal in the restaurant in the evening. Sadly we didn't get an opportunity to use the swimming pool as the weather was cold and wet for our 2 night stay.

The cost of parking the car.

Breakfast was wonderful. Hot dishes made to order and plenty of healthy options on the buffet. Delicious! Convenient location 5 mins walk from Cours Mirabeau and train station. Lovely Occitaine toiletries.

Nothing. Warm welcome. Pool was moderate size, but daughter loved swimming while I was able to have a spritz poolside and enjoy my book. All good.

The Grand Hotel Roi Rene is exquisite !! Beautifully appointed and nice amenities. Located very close to Cours Mirabeau, within walking distance. The front desk staff is very kind & helpful. Lovely lounge for aperitif and on Fridays, they had live music. Nice sun beds by the pool, and if you go into the lounge, you can let them know you’d like pool side service.

My only complaint: come late afternoon, the pool area and our terrace has many mosquitoes. The hotel will give you bug spray but then you smell like bug spray for dinner. It would be better for the hotel to spray the property.

Location ideal for visiting the sights and shops. Modern room and amenities. On-site parking. Staff very helpful.

During the three nights we stayed at the hotel we were unable to use the bar area on two evenings and the outside patio area on another due to large private functions. Consequently we were not able to access the hotel’s facilities entirely-it would have been nice to sit in the bar/lounge area for pre dinner drinks on all the evenings.

The buffet breakfast was large with many options,. Eggs and omelets available also. The location was just at the edge of the old town with just one street to enter. Location was easy to drive to and valet parking was available for the underground lot. Bus stop just in front of hotel and convenience stores located across the street. It was too cold to try out the pool, but it was large and clean.

A beautifully presented hotel in the most perfect location. It was an oasis of calm with wonderful attentive staff who couldn’t do enough to hep. The pool was wonderful in the heat. Breakfast was a wide choice and delicious. A fantastic stay.

Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice. My en-suite included a bath and bathrobes so excellent. Room was cleaned promptly and of a good size.

There were five steps at the front entrance so not so handy if you have a heavy suitcase. On the way out one of the reception staff was very obliging and carried my suitcase up the steps but it was a bad design.

Location was great to walk into Aix. All staff were polite and helpful. Breakfast was amazing. Huge range of choice to set you up for the day Breakfast staff arranged a lovely birthday welcome for one of our party. Really went the extra mile

The stairs to upper floors were steep. I prefer to take stairs over the lifts but I didn’t feel this was a safe option .

Exceeded my expectations. The best French breakfast buffet of our 4 city stays. Loved the variety and service was excellent too Also when my Marseille tour cancelled for the next day when we were to leave, the front desk exceeded my expectations in trying to help me find another tour. Made several phone calls on my behalf and when we didn’t get any answeres he recommended the tourist office web site and I got the idea of hop on hop off bus instead. The tourist office listed forest fire in area of Y your, making me aware of the problem and solution. Thanks to his service

Dinner was very disappointing. Menu was limited and what I ordered was not as it should have been. My steak was requested to be medium rare and came well done. Even the server acknowledged it wasn’t the way I ordered it. She did nothing. Service wa not attentive and not professional.
