Imagine if you will the perfect dream of a country chateau in French Normandy and I promise you Chateau De La Rapee Hotel and Restaurant in Gisors would far exceed your expectations. The gorgeous chateau built in 1825, the perfectly decorated salmon and grey French Country room that would impress even Joanna Gaines with its design and wainscoting (and has an antique wardrobe that I am fairly sure would lead to Narnia if I were younger and still allowed to go), the beautiful grounds with century-old oak trees, and a restaurant sent straight from heaven. Chef Philippe Bergeron is AMAZING and turns eating into a magical experience. His "Son des saisons" menu takes into account the products seasons with the best producers in the region and the results are "incroyable!" I normally could care less about eating but this food was beyond delicious. This was one of the few places we stayed that had an outlet in the bathroom, actual vanity space for beauty and hygiene supplies, multiple mirrors, and actually provided enough towels. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and even helped us confirm dinner reservations at our next destination, since our French was rudimentary at best.

I wish I had booked two nights!

The location is quite remote but this is actually a bonus. Very quiet and tranquil, surrounded by gardens and countryside with horses. Finding the house could be a challenge, although once in Bazincourt village, keep an eye out for a sign. This was our last night in France after touring for a couple of weeks, and we wanted somewhere comfortable, quiet and with a restaurant on site, so we could just relax. The Chateau ticked all the boxes. It was built as a family home, and still retains that feeling. Our very spacious, clean and comfortable room, with a lounge area, looked out over fields with horses. The decor was soft and muted, and relaxing. The bed was probably the most comfortable bed we slept in whilst away, and we had a good night's sleep. The bathroom was large and appeared to have recently been refurbished. As it was a Monday night, the restaurant was closed except to hotel guests, so the menu would not be the full menu. We thought this might pose an issue for us due to some medical dietary restrictions, however, we corresponded with the hotel, and they could not have been more accommodating and helpful. As it turned out, the menu worked for us, and we had an excellent and delicious meal. This is a family run hotel, and staff seem to double up on duties. They could not be nicer, more helpful or cheerful. Antoine was on reception when we checked in and was fully aware of any issues we might have in the restaurant, which also meant we probably would not take breakfast the next day. Together with a lovely cheerful young lady who always seemed to be smiling, they were the only staff we saw, even in the restaurant, but this actually gave the stay a more intimate feel. When we left the next day, they ensured that we had hot drinks available in the lounge, as we had not had breakfast. We are sure to stay again in the future

Beautiful house and a very comfortable stay. Large room and bathroom. A nice walk with your dog, lovely countryside and fresh air. A little remote but we found it no problem and it is signposted. Dinner was impressive and inexpensive and I’d consider it a must if you’re staying here. Leaving the best til last - the staff were fantastic. Welcoming and utterly professional.

We liked everything: really marvellous dinner, with a great white wine and roaring log fires (after two weeks in a house with no central heating, this was bliss). The owners and staff were super helpful and friendly. Our dog was made very welcome. The room was big, warm, comfortable. The hotel itself has an interesting history and is set in very pleasant grounds.

There could have been a working sink plug in the bathroom basin. But our biggest issue is that we had difficulty finding the hotel from the A13 motorway as it is off the beaten track and it is not very well signposted when you are near-ish. It was getting dark and what few signs there were did not stand out, which was tough after a very long drive from SW France. So we did get a bit lost more than once. Better signs would help - satnav was no help!

This is a stunning character property in a lovely forest location. Our room was extremely spacious with a big comfortable bed. We very much enjoyed our dinner on the attractive terrace. We found the owners and staff to be most helpful and friendly.

The bathroom door did not shut properly and there was no window or fan.

This Chateau lived up to our expectations - although it was a little further and took longer to get there than we had anticipated as we were on bicycles. The restaurant was just closing for food orders, but we were still able to have a lovely meal. Breakfast was very good.

It was a shame that we were not able to spend more time at the Chateau.

Fabulous chateau hotel in its own grounds. Wonderful owners, great food and drink.

I’d like to say “ Je ne regrette rien” but I should have just parted with 45€ and tried the really old Calvados - “liquid gold” according to la chatelaine!

Beautiful chateaux with lots of character and a warm welcome

We were offered dinner - 3 courses for €59 but here were big supplements on many of the dishes which was not clear and so it ended up being the most expensive dinner we have ever had!

Beautiful Château with a lot of charme and style and attention to detail. The room was generous in size. The staff was extremely friendly and the food was great. The surrounding is beautiful and very quite.

The pool water needed more chemicals and cleaning. It’s colour made it less inviting to swim in it.

The manager and his staff were very welcoming and helpful. The evening dinner was delicious and impeccably served. For November our bedroom was delightfully warm, even though this is a genuine old château. Thoroughly recommended.
