I ended up arriving at the hotel just after 3am due to my flight into the country being delayed, hotel was great regarding this and I was welcomed warmly by the manager when I did finally arrive. Throughout my stay, I was consistently treated with warmth and received helpful advice from the staff regarding local attractions and points of interest. The hotel boasts a convenient location within walking distance of many attractions and offers excellent metro connections for exploring places further afield. Being tucked away from the main tourist streets allowed me to discover affordable and authentic Greek food favoured by the locals. The rooms were impeccably clean and provided a comfortable stay.

Great small hotel located in walking distance to major attractions. Our room was extremely clean which is always our first priority when travelling. Room was well equipped with individual air conditioning unit. TV with BBC News which is unusual. Plenty of drinking water in the fridge in the room. Bed was comfortable and the bed sofa where our son slept was just the same quality as a regular bed which was a plus. The host Aristo as well as young lady at the Front office was extremely helpful and accommodating, making us feel very very welcomed. Free drinks and coffee available at reception at any time. The place is a perfect base for exploring Athens. Our only problem was that we only had one night. We would have liked to stay for another 2 or 3 nights to take advantage of Aristos hospitality, and tips on where to go and what to do.

The location was perfect within walking distance to all the major attractions while maintaining a very real feeling of living, if only for a short time, with local Athenians. I would classify the hotel as a boutique hotel which is exactily what I was hoping to find. The staff was very friendly and super helpful with recommendations for restaurants and useful information in general about Athens. The owner Aristo and general manager Visalius are great people. I will miss them. Everything was amazing. If you are looking for a small, genuine, local and authentic hotel for your next trip to Athens then I highly recommend you stay at the Alter Athens Hotel. You will not be disappointed.

The host, Billy, Vassilli, is truly exceptional. The most welcoming host we have experienced. The rest of the team not far behind. For the price the superior room we had was very good, fridge, coffee making facilities, welcome pastries. Location looks a little rough but anything but. A ten to fifteen walk to two restaurents Vassilli recommended, Ama lucia and Rozalia both brilliant. Black salami sandwich bar. Really felt we were in Athens proper. Room was spotless, bed comfortable. For sensitive sleepers pack ear plugs to combat air conditioning. Vassilli will arrange transfers for you at very fair price I e less than GMG or Viator. If you are going to Athens stay here. P s Vassilli always happy to gave a chat over a beer with you. Hop on hop of bus about 12 minutes walk away, most places within 20 minutes. Update, after leaving we had the misfortunate of having a flight cancelled. The airline could not help with accommodation etc, 5.30 a.m. with the new flight due at 17.30 (having been in airport since 15.00) Rang hotel, sorted out. Huge thanks

My stay in Athens was made exceptional by this accommodation. Safety was never a concern, even when walking alone at night. It's perfectly located, just a short walk from the city center and major attractions like the Acropolis. What truly sets it apart is the welcoming staff and management, who treated me like family and provided invaluable local recommendations. It felt like a home away from home. This accommodation is the best I've experienced overseas, offering safety, a prime location, and genuine hospitality. Very friendly staff, tried to help you in any way possible. The room was very spacious and clean. Comfort was good: airconditioning worked well. Bathroom was nice too and the bed was comfortable. In other words: it had everything you look for in a hotel in terms of hygiene, comfortable sleeping and good sanitation.

Nothing disappointed. However, the price of a room per night could be lower, compared to other hotels. However, because of the supreme quality and hygiene of the room, you definitely get your money's worth (and more) if you book at this hotel.

The best owner of a hotel you will probably ever meet. Incredible staff and customer service. I was sick with a bad fever for the first week of my stay and the owner was extremely helpful, he knew a local woman who took me to the local clinic and helped translate and communicate for me. The owner and staff will bend over backwards to make your stay pleasant. The room was spacious, great air conditioning, great wifi, great shower and toilet.

The only negative I could think of is its location is a short walk from a train or the city centre.

This is a great place with extremely helpful staff. We arrived at 2am because of a delayed flight and they were waiting for us with a welcome drink! The room was exactly like in photos, one of the few hotels in this price category with a normal shower (without a curtain). The AC was working well, there is a fridge in the room too. The neighbourhood looks strange at first, dark, but we have always felt safe here, it's full of life and bars and restaurants and a walking distance to the centre (around 20min). We even walked to Parthenon. Thank you Aristo for making our stay in Athens so special!

Simply amazing and modern Hotel, worth much more than even 3 or 4 stars, in a friendly and safe neighbourhood with lots of nice Cafés and Restaurants within walking distance and just a 20 minutes walk from the city center. Quiet nights with deep sleep are usual since the hotel is not situated next to a big road and noisy clubs (choose one of the rooms facing the backjard for even less noise). Very fast glas fiber based internet connection (more than 200Mbps on average). Cleen and modern rooms (like at the pictures of the hotel). The absolutely guest friendly owner Aristo is doing everything to make your stay awesome. It felt more like staying at home. Nice and deep talks while haveing a drink after lobg days of sight seeing or while a coffee in the morning. I hope to see you again Aristo. I will come back, definitely.

The room was very comfortable and clean. I felt very safe in the hotel, and Aristo was a wonderfully hospitable host. I really felt that he paid attention to when I was coming/going to make sure I was okay. As a female traveling alone this aspect is very important to me and it made me feel very comfortable and safe in his hotel. The location is in a very unique neighbourhood of Athens with its own history and character, which made my stay very interesting. A rich social and cultural history can be seen in the street art throughout the neighbourhood. Lots of great bars and restaurants off the beaten path. Easy access to all the tourist sites on foot or via affordable public transit.

The hotel is located on a busy street, and cars/motorbikes can be heard throughout most of the night even with the windows closed. Nothing that some earplugs can’t fix.
