Leo Hotel is in an excellent location just near the old port. It is a beautiful old Venetian building which has been lovingly restored. My room was large and completely soundproof from the street which meant I had uninterrupted nights' sleep. The bed was king size and so comfortable I slept so well the entire stay. Eleni the owner and proprietress was so helpful and full of great advice - it was such a pleasure to meet her.

Unfortunately the WiFi was not great - the hotel is located in an alleyway opposite another solid building. This is a problem generally in Rethymno due to the density of the buildings which is something I believe is beyond the hotel owner's control.

Wow, what can I say, the property is absolutely stunning. A lot of love has gone in to making this hotel one of the best in Rethymno. Location is perfect, right in the middle of the Old Town. Eleni … you are one of the sweetest, loveliest people we have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Thank you for making our stay feel like a home from home and for going out of your way to help us out. Host Eleni is great, utmost hospitable and helpful. Leo Hotel certainly was one of the best addresses in town. Still it’s a really nice hotel in the city center with a lot of lovable details. But unfortunately, times are changing and customers expectancies, too. Let’s put it this way: if you are a friend of good old-fashioned accommodation and you like the atmosphere of a genuine Venetian palace, this is the place to go to in Rethymnon. We hope that the small cafe in the house will re-open soon. There are plenty of cafes in the area, but this one looked really inviting.

Amazing Hotel at the heart of the city. Very clean and spacious. Beautiful interior design with vinatge decor and nice ambience. The host was very helpful and easy/quick to respond to messages

One major (for me) problem is that the room is not fully blackout. I need 100% darkness when I am sleeping. The blackout curtains/ shutters cover partially the 2 separate balcony doors and the window does not have a shutter at all . You should bring a sleeping mask otherwise, you will wake up when the sun rises. The room becomes very bright from very early. Also, there is no elevator

Beautiful Elegant modern hotel in a 1470 building with thick stone walls and 20 ft ceilings. Location is excellent for walking, convenient to the beach, bus station, shopping and restaurants. The staff makes you feel like family. They also have a on-site restaurant which makes it convenient if you are tired of wandering. Will stay here again in a heartbeat.

Thru no fault of the hotel, there was a weather event where the city cut off water, no shower last day. You have to prepare mentally for these things when traveling. Luckily no one sat next to me on the bus.

A wonderful hotel in the heart of the old town. Very central spot which means your only a short walk from the local beach in the day, and right in the centre of the beautiful restaurants that Rethymno has to offer. Eleni and her family are so welcoming and helpful - we had an experience during our stay where we needed to visit the local hospital and they were amazing taking us to where we needed to go late at night. The food and drink at Leo itself is great, we sat and had coffees and drinks at the hotel most days and evenings - the street it’s located in is beautiful and perfect to sit and watch the world go by. Thank you again for having us, we will definitely be back.

Our room was a little bit dark but with it being an old building we knew this could be the case. If you prefer more light it might be best to book a room with a balcony, that’s what we plan to do when we stay next. :-)

The location couldn't be better; the hotel is in the heart of the old town steps away from restaurants, shops and places of interest. Eleni is such an exceptional human being. The fact that she's the one that checks you in and prepares breakfast as well is all you need to make you feel at home. I'm not gonna add pictures to this post because the ones online are better than mine, but I took dozens! This is a historical building and it's decorated so elegantly!

Parking is challenging in this part of town. There's paid parking 2-3 blocks away and free parking next to the castle -10 min walk, but almost no cars on the streets is one of the charming features of Old Town Rethymno.

Due to the historic age of the building, the rooms smell a little bit „wet“/„old“. However, when opening the windows or turning on the AC, this can be easily managed! Therefore, not meant as bad comment but just mentioning as you feel it if you first enter the room

My ratings describe it all. The best location in the middle of the old town, you find everything around the hotel but still very cosy and quiet. Big windows toward small alley, high rooms and lot of space with beatiful, very good conditioned and fresh interior to enjoy the stay. Warm and nice welcoming, felt like home and made our stay very comfortable!

I really liked this place. Eleni was very friendly, and gave me a balcony room with high ceilings, which was beautifully decorated and furnished. I was able to check in early after my journey. The location was good, close to restaurants and the quayside. It was good value for money too

It’s in the centre of Rethymno old town so there was a little bit of street noise late at night, but nothing too disturbing. I still slept well in my enormous comfy bed
