I absolutely loved my stay at Island Hostel! If you can't decide between Buda and Pest, this is the perfect solution – you're right in the middle of the Danube with stunning river views! Waking up to the scenery and having the option to bike or run along the river is amazing. The hostel itself is spotless, with a beautiful top garden that’s perfect for relaxing. The staff are incredibly kind and helpful, and the kitchen is a real gem – well-designed, aesthetic, and practical, like something straight out of Pinterest! It's also super convenient, with a bus station just a 4-minute walk away and the Parliament nearby. If you're on a budget, you can grab groceries from a nearby store and use the fully-equipped kitchen to cook your own meals. Highly recommend this place for a memorable stay in Budapest!

The location was cool but unfortunately we didn’t get to see much of the island due to the rain. Easy to get the tram in to the centre. The room was pretty good

We arrived early and was sitting on the (very large) terrace and we were told that we cannot stay there and we need to leave and come back after 3pm. I found this absolutely ridiculous since we were the only ones there and not in anyone’s way. If they needed to clean the area we were sitting we could have moved to the other side of the terrace. I’ve never been told I have to leave a hostel before and come back after check in time (and I’ve stayed in a lot of hostels) Didn’t find the staff friendly at all, surprised so many other reviews mention they did

The place is beautiful with a big terrace overlooking the Danube river. The hostel is located in a big island park, so if you like going for a walk it's wonderful. The bed was comfortable and the room was spacious and had everything needed. There were adorable paintings on the walls and obviously the whole place is arranged with much love and enthusiasm.

If you don't like walking you should know that the only way to get to the hostel itself is by foot. For me personally that was not a problem.

Very nice view of the Danube from the terrace accessible from the bedroom. Very spacious room, very nice common area to meet new people. The lady at the reception is adorable and super nice, and the hostel cat is super cute!

Maybe a little far from the tram (10 min walk), but heavenly location so you have to know what you want!

I like a very friendly and helpful reception, and a place located in the center of Budapest that provides easy access to the bus station and metro, allowing guests to enjoy the historical buildings and lively nightlife in the city. The hostel has a garden on the second floor with a kitchen. There are also restaurants and bars close to the hostel where guests can meet new people from around the world and make friends. If you want to save money while having easy access to the city center, are curious about different cultures, and want to find new friends to enjoy your time with, this is the best place for you.

-The location is pretty cool right on the Margaret Island. -The terrace with the view, many plants and hammocks was a highlight for me. - The personal and the people staying there were very nice so that gave it like kind of a familiar vibe. Overall a nice place with very nice people and a beautiful experience. Thank you! :)

- There was a mix up regarding my bed. I was all day outside and when I came back I didn't have a bed anymore. That was not so pleasant but the personal found a quick solution and gave me another bed in a room with less beds so in the end it was a positive change for me. - although the beds are alright I don't like that you have no privacy whatsoever.

Unbelievable Location, Calm and Chill neighbourhood yet only about 5 minutes walk into the hustle-bustle of the city. Staff were friendly and extremely helpful. They had the answers to all my questions. I will travel to Budapest again just so I can stay at this lovely hostel.

The two girls at the reception are the friendliest receptionists in the world. Extremely helpful. Atmosphere of this place makes you feel like it's your own home. The location is stunning - on the island, in the middle of a park, with amazing, huge sunny terrace from where you can see not only the Danube river, but also the building of Parliament. Very silent, as on the island cars are not allowed. Comfortable beds. Good heating in the winter and spring.

Great location, I feel like it's in the middle of the city, and it's on the Island itself. The balcony of the hostel is a lovely place, nice place to just have some beer after a whole day of travel.

The hostel is built on top of a bar/restaurant, so loud music and other noise could be heard all night (Our room open the window slightly for ventilation and a cooler room temperature).

I rarely write very positive reviews. But: In the case of Island Hostel, this is warranted. The place exceeded all my expectations. What I loved: - The host's (Edit's) caring, professional and helpful attitude --> I felt like a spoiled Disney Princess... :) - Positive vibes of the place enhanced by lovely decor, - A stunning view of the Danube and the beautiful Pest-side buildings from the hostel's own terrace equipped with comfy sofas, - An impeccably clean, modern dorm room, and bathroom with a separate toilet, - A fully equipped kitchen, - A free-to-read book collection with a variety of both Hungarian and international literature if you prefer to combine a good read with observing the awakening of the city. Thanks for this unexpectedly fantastic experience.

It could perhaps be reasonable to allow for a slightly later check-out.
