We had one of the smaller rooms and it was very spacious (especially compared with some of the accommodation we've stayed in in Iceland). Plenty of room to have a couple of suitcases open (up on a bench), large desk (that could seat two people), plenty of room around the large double bed and a spacious bathroom. The staff were just wonderful and very accommodating. We ate in their small restaurant. Everything was delicious. Their menu isn't large, but what they provide is first class. Breakfast was also plentiful, varied and delicious. We'd certainly stay here again, and recommend it to our friends.
We couldn't work out how to reduce the temperature in our room (couldn't find the radiator or thermostat) so had to open a window to cool the room down so we could sleep. This is a common problem in Iceland where the rooms are invariably overheated. It would have been nice to have additional pillows to use and/or choose from to help sleep...but these are small issues and our stay was great.

The volcano-themed decor was unique! Our room was very spacious and had huge windows with a distance view of the ocean. The staff were helpful, welcoming and obliging no matter how busy. The beds were very comfortable and the blackout curtains made it easy to get a great night's sleep. Dinner was delicious. It was expertly cooked and presented. The included breakfast buffet was amazing with freshly baked bread, hotcakes, scrambled eggs as well as cereal, yoghurt, fruit juice, sliced cheeses, meats, pastries and more! We feel very lucky to have been able to book in at short notice. It was a fabulous place to stay.

Very spacious room. Big comfortable beds. Very quiet area. Shower was very hot after a day exploring outside. Breakfast was also wonderful with a good variety. The young woman working there was super friendly and knowledgeable with great suggestions of the area. She seemed to be the only one working as she greeted us, cleaned the room and made the breakfast. Seemed to enjoy herself. Highly recommend staying here!
Honestly not much at all. Maybe having a bigger garbage can in the room, as your hiking all day and you need a place to put all your trash.

The Volcano is a wonderful boutique hotel a short drive west of Vik. It has beautiful views of mountains and the ocean. The room was very clean and comfortable. Kolla, the proprietor, was the jewel of the stay. Very warm and welcoming and made us a delicious arctic char dinner. Ie would highly recommend having dinner at the hotel.
If there is one thing I would change about our stay, it is that our bed was actually two twin beds pushed together. Very comfortable beds, but with a split in the middle.

The room was spacious, clean and quiet. The bed and bedding was comfortable. It was nice to have the option to order food in advance for dinner, because the location is rural. We ate onsite the first night and stopped in Vik at the end of the next day to grab dinner there before we headed back to the hotel for the evening. Breakfast was adequate / normal European offerings and they offered to make fresh scrambled eggs, which was a nice touch. The staff was helpful in answering questions about the area. Availability of onsite parking was convenient.
We enjoyed the property, but it is important to understand that it is about 10 KM from Vik, so if you’re looking for shopping or restaurants, just know that you’ll need to drive to town for those things - which was no problem for us. We actually liked the peace and quiet of the location.

The property is very modern and clean. It was the nicest place we stayed while in Iceland. Veronica and the gal who's from Greece (I apologize for forgetting her name) were very friendly and conversational. In fact, they were the friendliest young people with whom we spoke all week.
The day before, we stayed at the Hotel Skaftafell. They had an excellent breakfast buffet. This one was adequate; but, when our son asked whether he could have an additional two scrambled eggs, he was told that only two are allowed per person. Considering the price of the hotel and the fact that we aren't huge eaters, we were disappointed about that fact.

Room was huge with a pull out couch bed (which we didn't use). Beds were comfortable. They had a nice breakfast room with 2 couches and a coffee table in one corner. When I asked if it was ok to use that area so we could drink our wine and eat our cheese and crackers, they were very friendly and told me that the room was for the use of the guests at all times. I wasn't sure since they also offer dinner (which we did not try) and I thought they might frown on us eating our own food - but they were totally fine with it. They also lent us with a wine opener when we needed to open our wine and we were able to use their glasses and cutlery.
Our room was facing right into the parking lot and entry driveway so we kept the curtains pulled most of the time for privacy. Because the room is so large it takes a while to heat up. I did not really check on the location of the hotel in relationship to the town of Vik. Somehow I just assumed that it was right "in town" when in fact it was a little bit away. So if you want to go into town - either to buy snacks or grab a meal you should be aware that you will have to drive into town to do this and cannot just walk over. I don't necessarily think this is a negative as most of the hotels in Vik were also some distance away from the town proper. Just something that you should be aware of.

Occupancy was low during the off season, so the place was very quiet and dark at night - great for sleeping. The room was very big and clean and the staff was very friendly and accommodating when we met her at breakfast.
Very little. The only downside we saw to the hotel was that it was a few minutes out of town, so we had to drive to dinner. That’s hardly something they could do anything about. The peacefulness of the place made up for that, though.

The Volcano Hotel is just outside of Vik. A good spot to see Northern Lights as it's setback from the Road. It was quiet and the buffet breakfast was convenient in the communal dining area. The tables were plentiful and clean. A person was onsite and they were efficient at restocking breakfast offerings. I think the hotel was pricey (as all things in Iceland are). We paid $206 for one night - November 6, 2023. Other than that, it met our needs for a one night stay.

LOVELY customer service by staff. Super friendly!!! Incredible breakfast included- scrambled eggs were amazing! Location is great, 10-15 min out of Vik, so get the vibe of being out of the business of a town. Beautiful viewing of skies- Northern lights if lucky. Room huge and comfortable
Nothing to fault.
