A lovely hotel with a great bar and restaurant.
The area opposite (and all around) the hotel is quite ugly and, for the high price, I thought the room itself was a little lacking. But if you focus on the mountain views at the back it is wonderful! Also, I told them it was my birthday on the day we stayed (and my husband's 50th birthday a few days before) and nobody mentioned a thing about it. So just be aware it is a large hotel more focused on profit over people, unlike most of the lovely guesthouses we stayed at around Iceland. But it is a lovely modern hotel if you have the money and prefer that vibe.

Nice, cozy rooms, great staff, convenient restaurant downstairs with an excellent hot breakfast. The location is tops: directly across the street from the stable if you’re going to do the black sand beach ride. Also across the street and slightly over from a very central plaza for Vik: it has the grocery store, a huge REI-type outdoorsy store, a couple of restaurants, and is also the meeting point for most of the glacier tours. So, walkable!
Expensive - but then, Iceland is all expensive. The dinner menu is small.

The restaurant was exceptional. The quality of the menu exceeded our expectations. The adjoining bar was similar and the happy hour cocktail was a highlight. All staff including restaurant, bar, reception and housekeeping were very welcoming. The location was stunning. Everything that the hotel promotes online is real
We had a couple of days with high strength wind that actually prevented us doing a tour. We should have done our homework and known that this could happen, however I think the hotel could have considered warning us and possibly suggested some alternatives. They cant control the weather, but we ended up checking out a day earlier and heading the Reykavik

The breakfast is very good in terms of options and quality and the staff were promptly refilling the trays and cleaning the tables. The view from the restaurant area to the mountain is amazing. The room is decent but missing a mini-fridge and the radiator was weirdly placed under the desk :) Clean room, good temperature and relatively quiet - facing partially to the mountain (although there was some humming noise coming from some kind of machinery but I guess that was specific to our room only). But overall we had a comfortable stay.
They asked for my credit card details (including CVC) even though the accommodation was fully paid. This was really strange because other hotels would have asked for a pre-authorization on card if they wanted some kind of guarantee.

I can’t express how much my family and I enjoyed our stay. The hotel was decorated beautifully for Christmas. Every morning my husband, 4 year old son and I looked forward to our cozy breakfast. It’s still dark at breakfast in December but that made it even more special. We ate and planned our day while there was Christmas music playing in the background. It was like a dream. We ate dinner there once and wished we had time to eat there again, it was delicious! Vik and surrounding areas also offered a lot of beautiful sights and activities for our family before we headed north up to Reykjavik. We were so sad to go! The room had a beautiful view of the mountain and we even saw the northern lights from our room! It was the perfect trip.

Had a fabulous stay at Hotel Kria and if you’re considering booking, I would absolutely recommend you do!! Hotel is beautiful with amazing views of the mountain behind, and our room had the same wonderful views (worth paying extra for the mountain room)! The restaurant has an incredible menu for dinner (try the seafood soup on the menu), and a great breakfast included in the rate to set you up for the day! The staff were wonderful, especially the hotel manager who we forgot to get the name of, who helped us when we were in a sticky situation with our car. Wish we could have spent more time here!!

Room was clean, modern, and comfortable. Restaurant and bar were attractive and cozy, with nice views. (We were going to eat in the restaurant, but then learned about a fun brewpub that we could walk to downtown and went there instead, with no regrets). The room's windows opened completely like a balcony so that we could get nice air in the room, which we enjoyed. From the hotel, you can walk anywhere in town, including to Black Sand Beach, the church, and a beautiful hike up on the hill/peninsunla overlooking the town.
The only thing I can say here is the price: it was pretty expensive in my mind - but it was comfortable and in a great location. I'd stay here again for sure.

Do not get fooled by the outside. It is very nice inside. Nice bar, nice resto, games room. Very friendly reception. Nespresso machine with also decaf coffee with chocolates. 2 pillows each, different models so you can choose. The room is well designed and functional.Vik is very small. You could walk everywhere from the hotel. Ample parking
It was disappointing that there was no decaf coffee at the breakfast and that the breakfast lady refused to accommodate. I had to ask for decaf coffee cups at the reception, make it myself and drink it in my room.

Hotle Kria was a wonderful oasis on the Southern Coast of Iceland; right off of Rt. 1. You could tell it was newly constructed (built in 2018), and had a beautiful vibe/feel to it. The view out of the mountain rooms was wonderful, although there are parking lot lights on the left side of the building. Rooms 221-235 have no lights and a better view of the mountain. Free breakfast was a plus and staff was wonderful! Ample parking. We came back another time on the trip and are planning to return next time we're in Iceland. A great stay!
There was a 100m walk from the parking lot to the hotel which isn't that bad, except for the gnarly wind from the coast. Probably the coldest moments of the trip were walking from the parking lot to the hotel. But totally worth it! (the parking lot is free and has tons of space)
