Hosts were welcoming and had great information on the area. The guest rooms are a new building and were very comfortable with easy external access for northern lights searching. Breakfast in the large common area was an excellent range of fresh tasty items. The common area has large windows overlooking the beautiful valley and it was so relaxing sipping our coffees looking out over the fields and across to the mountains. This was one of our favorite stops on our trip around Iceland.
Mezzanine level in our room had a skylight and 2 arm chairs which is a great idea but not very accessible for tall people. This was a minor issue though as we were happy to explore the night sky outdoors. Note: google maps showed us 2 routes to the property. We took the one prompted and it was a gravel road. This was an issue with our vehicle but recommend checking which is the sealed road.

We were very pleased with the explicit directions to Hotel Á, which had us going in a slightly roundabout way, We were a bit puzzled until I realized the directions were designed to get us there via tarred roads as opposed to a gravel road. Thank you...we saw a bit more of the countryside that way and drove right by the Deildartunguhver Hot Springs at which we stopped and marveled and resolved to try the baths at Krauma. We were also extremely pleasantly surprised that Hotel Á served dinner when they had enough guests to make it practical. It was a wonderful dinner and we were happy as we had had a very long drive from Stykkishólmur that day and very much appreciated not having to go "foraging". We enjoyed meeting the friendly (but lovelorn) family pup and had two very pleasant talks with the young man (I'm assuming part of the family who own and run the hotel?)
Honestly, I can't think of anything. Maybe an extra pillow for each bed? My partner and I both frequently read prior to turning out the bedside light and an extra pillow to prop against for reading would be a nice touch.

We stayed here for one night, exploring the features in the neighborhood. The hotel was warming and friendly. Rooms are nice, clean and spacious. Since the nearest restaurant is a bit away, we decided to dine in the restaurant of the hotel. A set menu with a main of fish of meat. This was great, we had both the meat(lamb) and fish(cod) and both tasted nice. Beds in the hotel wel of good quality, we had a very good night's rest. But the best part came. One of our kids forgot his favorite sleeping toy. After phoning the hotel we found out we forgot it in the room. But now we where in Olafsvik, 170km's in the wrong direction. They agred to bring the toy to a rendevue place in Borgarnes, a place we had to pass through on our way out to Reykjavik. How great is that!!! No detour for us, and a happy kid!! 100stars for this permium service.
There was a bit of neighbor sounds in the room. Not to bad, but something to take into account

I chose this property for the quiet countryside location, and it exceeded my expectations. The view overlooking the river from the huge restaurant windows is beautiful. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Clean cozy rooms. Breakfast is included. A young, friendly border collie who was "Happy" (his English name) to accompany me on walks around the property. Perfect location for exploring: Deildartunguhver; Snorrastofa Museum; The Cave Vidgelmir; Sturlureykir Visiting Horse Farm; the waterfalls of Hraunfossar; and Háafell - Goat farm (unfortunately for us this was still closed in early May).
As previous reviews have mentioned, the walls are paper thin. This became a problem for my friends who had a room next to a very noisy group of young men who were up late. I could hear someone snoring in the room next to mine, as well as people climbing the loft stairs when they arrived late. Compared to meals we had later in the trip, the prix fixe dinner was lovely but overpriced.

The staff is very nice and welcoming. The area is very beautiful.
We went out of our intended way for this hotel after having a great experience there a few years back. However, unlike the newer set of rooms (in which we stayed last time), we were given a room that was very outdated. It felt like going back in time to the 90s, and not in a good way - the design, the furniture, the floor, everything. So its worth keeping in mind - While the majority of the rooms seem to be in great shape (and with an amazing view), a minority of the rooms lack both.

We chose Hotel A because of Barnafoss, both of which we were not disappointed at all. The 4 bedroom house was on the mountain and had beautiful views. It was too large for 6 people. There were a living room, fireplace and large dining table. Unfortunately, we did not buy fresh meat and grocery to cook. The kitchen was large and had everything. Breakfast was excellent. Plenty of food, fruits. Good view in the morning.
There was no soap or shower soap provided in the bathroom. Since it was late at night we could not contact the front. We should have checked ahead of time.

A good size reasonably priced twin room, with a table and a useful kettle with coffee and tea. En-suite was nice and the shower good. Lovely quiet location and views, and the northern lights were a good spectacle. Reception was helpful and very friendly.
Nothing much to dislike, maybe better orange juice at breakfast would be nice and some Skyr. I think the room could become quite hot on a warm summers day, but after a day out hiking in sunny but freezing temperatures, it was very welcome.

Multiple generation-family owned property. Very friendly and helpful with where to go. Beautiful views. Rather secluded on a loop that includes a lava tube tour, a glacier tour, a nice waterfall and river hike, a horse stable with tour, and the Krauma hot Springs Spa. We were there three days and had plenty to do. Most nights (if enough customers) the family provided a lovely and simple (pre-ordered) dinner with two choices of entree... Which was great because the closest restaurant was at the Krauma hot Springs (30?) minutes away. Breakfast was complete Scandinavian breakfast with plenty to eat. The room was comfy with heated floors, a comfy bed and a little loft area. This was a great choice for us.
Loved everything.

This place was beautiful. They are clearly still remodeling. But, it was gorgeous. We loved the art deco aesthetic in the lobby and the room. The beds were comfortable. The room was small but fit our needs. Their hairdryer was the best. We really enjoyed staying here and will again if ever back in the area. It was also easy to walk down the street to find restaurants and shopping in downtown. Breakfast was excellent. The dining area was small so we ended up eating in the lobby, which was perfectly fine.
Nothing.

Impeccable stay. Excellent value for money. Super friendly and attentive staff willing to show attractions in the area. The room is cozy and nicely equipped with everything I need. Great location. Only 4-5 km from Hraunfossar. Superb view from my room. For dinner, the lamp with mushroom sauce menu is a too-die-for. Good selection of breakfast. The staff also made great efforts in trying to contact me to let me know that I had forgot my jacket.
