The breakfast was first rate, made to order and as they like to say in Ireland "prefect". Rolf had some marmalades on the table and I commented about how good they were. He explained how they came from Annie's Bakery in town and how he procures as much as he can from local supplies and farmers. We stopped at Annie's on our way out of town and purchased three jars of marmalade as well as some yummy pastries. Annie was a lovely lady who was welcoming and a joy to chat with. This is what I loved most about out experiences, meeting people and contributing to their local economy. Upon check-in I had a very unusual request, an 'above and beyond' request and Rolf didn't skip a beat in making sure my request was taken care of. Our room was clean, quite with a lovely window facing the bay. While my wife and I were reading in our room we could here cow's and sheep in the background, really tranquil and nice. This place is special and Rolf makes it extra special. My wife and I wished we had time to spend more days and if ever given the chance we will no doubt come back.

Iontach deas ar fad! Beautiful sea views from the house, very peaceful, warm and comfortable. The staff were friendly and attentive.

Location is superb. Breakfast was adequate. The manager, Ralk, was fantastic and went out of his way to assist us and to make us feel welcome. Nothing was too much trouble for him or his staff.

It would have been nicer to have one king sized bed in the room (we had two singles). It would have been ideal if they could have offered a warm dinner of sorts - but we were directed into the nearby town where there was a lovely Restuarant and a pub or two to choose from, so it all worked out just fine. Beautiful walks on the Downpatrick Head which is only a few minutes away by car.

Rolf was very welcoming and helpful. The Stella Maris is situated beautifully on the coast-views are spectacular. Only breakfast and tea are served but we found a great restaurant in Kilala. Ballycastle is convenient to Achill Island and other day-trip locations. Such a relaxing place to stay.

I.really can't think of anything except, with our bathroom being small, more shelving for toiletries would have been nice.

The stay at Stella Maris was exactly what we had imagined. We could switch off completely and enjoy nature. Francis is a very dear and friendly hostess. It was a pleasure for us to meet her! The breakfast is prepared very tasty. The rooms are large and the beds are comfortable.

The only point: You should definitely have a car or bicycle with you, because there is no lunch and dinner in the house and long distances to the nearest restaurants have to be driven (15-30min by car) - which wasn't a problem for us!

The location right by the sea.....you could see it and hear it......beautiful. Although the house is old and full of antique furniture it was in keeping with the history of the house which we were told about. Fascinating! The place was spotless, the food was prepared to order and fresh. The staff, Marian and Liz were brilliant and friendly.

The actual village of Ballycastle has little or no facilities....no places to eat. You have to be prepared to travel into Ballina which e didn't mind but some people may think driving 30 mins every evening a bit of a chore.

Our host could not have been more friendly and welcoming. The house is in an excellent location with beautiful views. Our room was beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean. The common areas are beautifully furnished with antique furniture. There are also lots of board games and books available for guests.

It is hard to find fault with this guest house. However it is a bit pricey considering that there is no food available in the evenings and especially given that there are not many restaurants nearby.

Everything was just perfect! The room was immaculate, comfortable bed and a superb bathroom with a bath. The breakfast was delicious, the staff were super, very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was so relaxing, it was a real get away from the busyness of life, the wine choice was excellent and Ralf was the perfect host!

Wonderful historic hotel on the coast with a view of Downpatrick Head. The hotel has very nice public areas and our large room was immaculately clean, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious with lots of options. Rolf was very attentive and even offered to prepare an evening meal since options are limited in the area.

Amazing views from the conservatory. Rolf and the team were very attentive and friendly. The facilities were great and the optional platter we were offered when we arrived fitted the bill as a light evening meal. We would definitely stay here again and recommend Stella Maris to our friends.
