December 2024

Lady on reception from czech Republic was so lovely and helpful. Especially as we were a big group of family and in particularly helpful when my daughter took sick. Two girls working restaurant/ breakfast, one with glasses and other whose birthday was 30th December, very pleasant and helpful. Cleaning girls were lovely and helpful. Boy in Backyard Cafe was under extreme pressure on his own and kept it together very well,he was smiling and engaging. All in all a great place for walking and catching up with family and friends. And I would stay again

Breakfast not very hot. Could do with upgrading hotel as more could be done as it's in such a beautiful setting. Hotel is cold, (need to put fire on, ) including bedrooms, no blankets. In bathroom/overhead shower only a lower down handrail, but could do with higher ones to get in. Could do with small fridge to keep medications in and cool packs. Very small bath towels and in this day and age I think bigger smart TVs with Netflix is the Norm. I wasn't impressed with the man who seemed to be in charge of housekeeping, spoke to staff not very nicely. And the other Man obviously manager was not very engaging and seemed snappy at times with staff. ( They seemed at most times to be understaffed)

The location is absolutely wonderful. Our room was very pleasant and comfortable. Breakfast had everything you needed to choose from.

Perhaps some staff training is needed. Members of our party were using a voucher to pay and were told they couldn't receive any credit for the difference between the voucher amount and cost of stay. Receptionist said she would talk to her manager but next morning on checking out she still hadn't or hadn't yet received a reply. Eventually and reluctantly the problem was sorted. Not sure if this is just a strange policy the hotel has or if it is a lack of information for staff. Also at breakfast we were asked to leave at 10.30, luckily we had just finished eating and were about to leave.

We really liked the hotel and its staff. The location is wonderful, within walking distance of all the routes of Glendalough.

We didn't like the breakfasts. And some of the towels were stained.

The staff were very friendly and attentive. The dinner was very nice. We ordered burgers first nite and salmon the second nite. The burger was awesome and the salmon was a decent slice. The bed was massive and kingcoil mattress very comfy also a bath tub in each room makes the highlight.

There can be more variation to the breakfast. It's very basic. The hall definitely needs an upgrade. Also the heating was turned off after St Patrick's weekend assuming most guests checked out so we had to ask to turn it back on which thankfully they did.

The location was very beautiful. The room was very comfortable and easily accessible for wheelchairs. The lounge and outdoor seating area was lovely. The desk clerk was very pleasant. The food was good.

We arranged to leave very early in the morning to catch a ferry in Dublin. The desk clerk said the front door would be left open and showed my husband where it was. She also arranged a breakfast snack to be left outside our room as we would be missing breakfast. These arrangements were not done and we found the doors locked and no snack left in the morning. Luckily, we managed to get out the rear doors 20 min late and catch our ferry but it was a very stressful situation and spoiled an otherwise pleasant experience.

The room was fantastic! Really comfortable beds! The views were awesome! And the location was excellent! The whole staff was so friendly! The young man at the coffee shop ( O Shay or O'Sean not sure how to spell his name, but he had black hair neatly pulled into a pony tail) was terrific! He was super nice and kind and very professional. He also made a great cup of coffee! I'd definitely stay here again!

If I had to pick one thing I'd say they might want to consider updating the sitting area in the foyer. It's got a real "I'm visiting my great grandmother" feel to it. But considering the history of the building I kind of understand what they are going for. Still, maybe some new furniture that still captures the history but with a more welcoming flair.

I loved the staff and the location is amazing. The staff were all really nice and obliging. there is a warm and friendly vibe and that is thanks to the people who work there.

Maybe it is because we are vegetarians but the food was not too exciting although there was nothing wrong with it. For example, we were offered porridge for breakfast. With honey and raisins and seeds it could have been great, but it was plain. I'd have loved coffee and a croissant or other pastry but there was only bread. Our dinner pasta was nice but not special. My bed was not very comfortable, but my husband thought his side was fine, (the double bed was two single beds which was fine but the two single duvets in the coverlet felt a bit uncomfortable.

Enjoyed the location - easy walk to the ruins and a nice base to walk around the lakes. We ate elsewhere but enjoyed a couple of drinks in the hotel bar. Beds were comfy, very clean. The parking lot serves as overflow for the ruins, but they let us park for free when we told them we were hotel guests

Check in at 3 pm and there is no flexibility on this.

It was in a great location, on the doorstep from the ancient ruins and the lakes. The room was comfortable and there were vegan food options, including breakfast.

As I was a little bit early for my check in time, I pulled into the visitor centre car park, which is just one stop before. Don't make the mistake I did, as I paid for the parking, which was actually free in the hotel car park. You can just park outside the hotel and go off and do your walk before bringing in your luggage.
