Beautiful place to stay. Great restaurant and breakfast. Storage for our bicycles, staff really friendly and helpful. Big spacious room. Thanks for the hospitality.

We absolutely adored our stay at Villa San Lucchese. For a start, the photos don’t give it justice! We didn’t expect much and were very pleasantly surprised as soon as we drove through the gate. It is a beautiful, family run hotel, surrounded by olive trees and vineyards. The grounds are very well maintained and the pool area was great addition to our stay, especially during the very hot July. The staff are extremely friendly. Stefano was extremely helpful when we decided to extend our stay, despite their busiest time and Marco made our breakfast time special. Both rooms we stayed at were very spacious and with amazing views of the valley! Rooms are air conditioned with good quality lines and towels. I cannot complete the review, without mentioning the restaurant. It serves traditional dishes and once again the views from the restaurant’s terrace were amazing! Huge thanks to Gerardo and Tanja for their hospitality. We’re definitely planning to stay there again on our next trip to Tuscany.

A family owned renovated old palace turned out to be a dream-hotel. In the heart of Tuscany. All the clichés and fantasies of this sentence come to life Around the main building a beautiful garden very well kept. An amazing stuff. Starting with Marco the owner was so authentically friendly. It is obvious that he really love to host and his friendliness is really genuine. It goes down the staff his aunt that prepares amazing variety of cakes for breakfast and =the people in the desk – especially Lorenzo who was so patient gave us useful tips and assisted us with everything. The location is perfect – San Gimingano sienna Chianti region with numerous little authentic towns. Florence or Pisa is less than an hour drive and nearby village you can find all that us necessary – supermarket, laundry, good pizza. Value for money is excellent. Rooms are spacious, conferrable, and perfectly clean, and above all is the good filling and attitude of the people who run and operate this magnificent spot

The location and tranquility were lovely. The family running the hotel were nice and friendly. It’s very relaxed and laid back.

There were no tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms. In the high price end for the facilities and offerings in terms of f&b. The restaurant food wasn’t the greatest, and could have been so good in such a beautiful setting but unfortunately the meals we had were all overcooked. (Lamb and steaks)

This hotel is set in a beautiful garden, with a big pool that was our savior during those hot July days. The restaurant has a sweeping view over the valley. The rooms are big and the mattresses very comfortable. Some of the bathrooms are brand new, some still need a bit of updating, which looks like is done step by step. The hotel exudes old fashioned Italian charm, but its biggest asset are the wonderful people who work there. The owner/manager makes delicious coffee himself in the breakfast room and always has a smile on his face. Everyone is very warm and welcoming, from the front desk, to the breakfast crew, to the young man who makes up the rooms and the restaurant team. They were all outstanding and made our stay a great experience. We loved our stay at Villa Lucchese!

We loved absolutely everything. It was a perfect stay. The place is so beautiful, so full of character. The staff were so kind and attentive, they couldn't do enough for us, but were also really laid back so we felt utterly relaxed. Lorenzo helped us a lot and Gerardo was the perfect restaurant host. Alessandro shared his running stories, and the lovely waitress (so sorry we didn't get your name) was so kind and gracious at dinner. The housekeeping lady was wonderful. We have rarely had such an amazing experience with staff before. The pool was stunning and super welcome in the heatwave. The grounds are so beautiful, not absolutely immaculate but for us this added to the character and laid back feel The rates are very affordable, perhaps becuase Poggibonsi is not as popular a tourist town. But it is an ideal location to explore stunning Tuscany. Just perfect!

The location was perfect to explore Sienna, San Gimignano, Florence, the Chianti region etc. The character, gardens and history added to the charm. We were lucky enough to get a room in the annex which was fabulous with amazing views. The staff were all so helpful and friendly and the breakfasts were great with delicious cappuccinos made to order and wonderful homemade cakes and lots of fruits and yoghurt, hams and cheeses. We are at the on site restaurant one night which is a beautiful setting but there are lots of other cheaper restaurants nearby which Lorenzo or Geneva at the desk can recommend.We loved the pool area and all in all San Lucchese surpassed expectations.

The WiFi isn’t great and we had to sit in reception to make calls.

The history and scenery of this Villa were so special and beautiful. The staff were amazing with a special thank you to Ginevra and Stephano. They made us feel so special. The breakfast was lovely with the owner welcoming us and making coffees. They made you feel like you belonged there. I highly recommend this Villa and hope to be back soon. Thank you for everything.

The hotel grounds are so beautiful, it was so relaxing and serene. The views from the restaurant are amazing and although quite overpriced in comparison to other restaurants during our stay (where we had better quality) I would still recommend for the views and would try the truffle pasta and creme brûlée. The rooms were very spacious, comfortable and clean with gorgeous views over the hotel garden. The highlight of the stay was the incredible staff, Lorenzo was extremely friendly and super helpful in helping us to arrange a Vespa hire and giving us recommendations for sightseeing / wine tastings. The staff at breakfast were also so friendly and although the breakfast options are quite limited, I really enjoyed the homemade cakes and omelette (although these were very small). The location is great for seeing Tuscany, although note my comments regarding hiring a car. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again and recommend it to others.

I would definitely hire a car if you are staying here, we didn’t do this as we thought that it would be easy to move around using the train station in Poggibonsi. However, the train station is a 25 minute walk and particularly hilly on the way to the hotel. Taxis are very limited and VERY expensive (€25-€30 for the 5 minute drive to Poggibonsi station). Given this, I would have expected the hotel to offer a lift service for hotel guests to the station. The hotel downstairs was dated, I understand that the hotel wants to maintain its Tuscan charm but I think this could be done in a more modern manner and that the facilities downstairs could be much better I.e nicer lounge areas and a bar during the day.

All members of staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. The location although close to Poggibonsi is in the countryside with view across to the Tuscan hills. Breakfast includes a wide range of choices including fresh fruit, yoghurt, eggs cooked in several ways including as a cheese and tomato omelette, cooked meats and cheeses, cereals and a wide choice of cakes - the Ricotta cake is a specialty. The restaurant offers a choice of very good Tuscan dishes and wines at reasonable prices and served by friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Would maybe have liked a ‘Daily Special’ in the restaurant and a tea/coffee tray in the bedroom but this is being picky and not usual on the continent.
