We enjoyed the selection of onsens available and the comfortable, large rooms (we stayed in the Japanese style room). The location is also excellent as it’s only a very short walk to many of the sights in the town.

The check in process was very long. We initially arrived 1 hour early and we’re told to return at check in time (3pm) where we were greeted with around 100 other guests attempting to check in at the same time. We waited around an hour in the busy lobby before we could then check in.. which definitely had a negative impact on our first impressions of the hotel.

There are many different small private onsen rooms in this hotel which is interesting. There is no dedicated shuttle bus, but there is a lot of regular public busses passing close by the hotel, which makes it convenient anyway. There is a convenience store inside the hotel which is cool concept and appreciated!

What a lovely classic Japanese onsen hotel. For the amenities and style, this was a great value compared to the other options in Shuzenji onsen. I booked 4 rooms for my group of 8 friends. We all loved it. We were the only foreigners there, and the typical guest was older Japanese folk or young families. The amenities are really so unique coming from the US. There is a karaoke lounge, arcade, conbini, game room, and more! There are a number of private onsen rooms, and we had no trouble finding an available one. (We stayed at the hotel on a Monday night, so it was a bit empty). Shuzenji Onsen itself is lovely and charming. The rooms had excellent vibes as well.

I would have loved to have a hot drink station available, like coffee and/or tea. I didn't opt in for the meals, so I can't say about that, but complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby would have been really nice instead of buying cheap coffee at the convenience store in the lobby.

There are 7 private onsen available to choose from, free of charge .

No slipper is provided upon check in and no shoe is allowed inside the hotel. During breakfast and dinner time , I have to wear socks provided by the hotel as I am not use to walking bare food inside a public area. There is spillage in the dining area by some hotel guests so my socks got wet, it is not a nice experience.

The buffet breakfast was really good. I loved how there were so many different private onsen and that there weren't any lineups. There is a health room with massage chairs and foot massager and some health measures that was nice. I was surprise there were so much kids entertainment there as well. The location was close to the near by attractions. There was free parking as well. Overall it was a great experience

The buffet dinner was not that great. Mediocre food options and over cooked beef. There were very limited towels in the rooms to keep the washroom dry and clean.

One of the most efficiently run hotels that I’ve been to. The whole system is seamless and the quality of the food was also excellent. Hot springs pools are devine. I now would like to stay in all other hotels run by this corporation.

Perched on a hillside, this hotel is best accessed by car. It's very large and very well organized. Onsen - large public and a number of small private ones are fantastic. Recreation room was retro - old arcade games and well maintained table tennis table. There was even a room with old games - turned out to be a pleasant way to pass the time. In addition to a sumptuous buffet (dinner and breakfast) there was ramen served late at night - amazing! The gift shop /convenience store was extremely well stocked. All in - a great experience - we should have planned to stay an extra night.

A little difficult to get to without a car.

Amazing facilities, spotlessly clean. The Onsen and bathing facilities were top class. The buffet breakfast and dinner were extensive and delicious. Some of the friendliest and most welcoming staff I've ever come across. They made the whole experience of staying at the hotel and absolute joy. I would highly recommend this establishment to any travellers. The facilities of the hotel are so great, I would give it five stars.

Everything was world class. There is absolutely nothing negative to say.

Located in a mountainous area within a lovely little town. A short walk to both nature (paths and stairs, fireflies) and small craft shops and experiences. The main hot spring bath was enjoyable along with a spacious outside bath (rotemburo). In addition, we also enjoyed a number of their seven private baths - something that we had never experienced in Japan. Buffet meals were excellent! Shuzenji was the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the hot spring after a long drive.

I was shocked when I arrived this to this hotel, I had no idea it would be so nice and comfortable. Our room was gorgeous, the breakfast and dinner was delicious, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. There was also a huge variety in the baths offered.

I upgraded my room to share a room with a friend. However, Booking.com doesn't know that this hotel charges per person and didn't ask me for her details. We had to pay extra when we arrived. Ah well, it was a great experience!
