Great location, nice staff, good buffet breakfast with a beautiful view from the 17th floor.English newspaper provided!

Swimming pool is just for fitness. It is attached to a public club so not exclusively for hotel guests. fee is 3300¥ and also only for adults. It was when I booked with my 3 year old we thought we would be able to swim but was not clear when booking. Booking.com said the facility had a pool but wasn’t clear additional fee required and age restrictions applied. Also coffee at breakfast was average.

I loved staying at this property. The location of the property was perfect and the hotel itself was tastefully decorated and well designed with comfortable rooms and furnishings that felt modern and updated. The pricing was absolutely exceptional in terms of the cost value ratio and in terms of comparative costs of other similar five-star luxury hotels in Kyoto. However the most impressive feature for my wife and I who were on our honeymoon was the truly exceptional Concierge staff at the hotel who helped us make extensive hard to book restaurant reservations and the level and extent to which the Concierge staff were willing to provide assistance leading up (and during our stay) far exceeded our expectations as well as the level of service and extent of assistance we received from the (3) competing other five-star luxury accommodations we stayed with in Tokyo, Kyoto, and elsewhere.

I liked everything about the property. No complaints about anything. I was only sad that I had to leave.

Hotel Okura Kyoto is a wonderful hotel, certainly earning its 5-star rating! It is especially well-located for local transportation and walking distance to all areas of interest to visitors: tourist sites; shopping department stores, boutiques, local handicrafts; museums; cafes and restaurants. All hotel staff are welcoming, helpful, and courteous! This historic, beautiful hotel offers very comfortable rooms with views and includes lovely toiletry amenities, as well as bottles of water and coffees and teas daily. Buffet breakfast on the 17th floor is a bountiful treat! Several restaurants are also available for sumptuous lunches and dinners. Beautiful hotel with exceptional staff, every single staff member were so friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble and I would highly recommend staying at this hotel. My family and I stayed here for 3 nights, lovely spacious rooms and great in-room facilities. I used the laundry services from housekeeping which was an excellent service. Taxi’s waiting outside the hotel lobby which was super convenient, lots of food options inside the hotel or within working distance.

Honestly loved our stay and the only negative comment I could say which is a very small thing is they could use better quilts on the beds for the hotel guests.

Loved our stay at Hotel Okura Kyoto and would not hesitate in staying here again. From the moment we arrived the hotel welcomed us into the beautiful foyer, check in was quick and easy and all the staff were welcoming and friendly. Our room was large by Japanese standards, with everything we needed plus more, including a great toiletries range. Also loved our breakfast range which included both Western and Japanese style choices, on the 17th floor with a lovely view over Kyoto. The shuttle service to Kyoto Station was also a much appreciated bonus. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for quality accommodation and friendly, excellent service.

Nothing, loved everything

We walked 5 minutes to various coffee shops and bakeries. Grandir was out favorite patisserie - excellent baked goods and bread but only for take out and no coffee. Great restaurants and bars around 15 minutes walk away. Kyoto is a fabulous place and the temples and sites are spectacular. Had ice cream one day in the hotel's cafe which was very nice. Staff were extremely helpful recommending restaurants and bars. Easy walk to Uniglo and shopping and Nishiki market. Rooms were extremely large with plenty of counter space, a full closet, a comfortable chair and table. Bathroom was huge with shower and tub and great lighting. Comfortable beds and pj and slippers were provided! Beautiful lobby.

We ended up taking a lot of cabs to the main tourist sites. We took a 20 minute cab instead of needing to take multiple subways or buses which would have taken 45 min to an hour.

Overall the Okura is very nice. Most of all, the hotel is spotless and the rooms very quiet and large. The hotel offers a shuttle bus from Kyoto station

Breakfast buffet is overpriced and the hotel's coffee shop is not open until 10 AM. There are any number of very nice coffee shops within a short walking distance. The only serious disappointment is the 3000 yen (yes three thousand) charge to use their fitness center. This was explained as necessary because the facility is for paying members and allowing guests to use for little or no charge would be poorly received by members who pay a considerable sum to belong. If you are a morning exercise person, there are numerous other hotels where excellent fitness centers are available free of charge. ,

Amazing staff! walking distance to points of interest like pontocho alley and nishiki market. There is a free shuttle bus that can take you to Kyoto station and pick you up also when you arrive (kyoto station is far from city centre downtown).

Very outdated decor, it was clean enough but the room had a smell when we arrived- probably those old curtains and carpets. The bathroom does not have much space to put toiletries and the bath faucet is old and fiddly. Good water pressure though. overall we are happy enough to stay as we are out most of the time, just need somewhere decent to sleep.

Excellent property, good location.

Reservations was initially very inflexible re change request to smaller room for one of two reserved due to one traveler not able to come because of sudden family illness. Hotel had plenty of vacancy so request could have been easily accommodated. After booking.com persistence the initial reservation was allowed to cancel allowing me to directly work with hotel, and did end up with satisfactory resolution.

The staff were fantastic. 2 instances - 1) Yuka Amy Adachi from Concierge helped me check a double payment at a nearby bar. This included contacting the owner & sending me a detailed email to ensure that there was no double payment 2) Upon arrival the reception had detailed all our bookings out (we made several bookings as multiple people joined our trip. They upgraded us all to ensure we didnt have to move rooms & were attentive throughout Breakfast was great with high quality ingredients & a good spread. Location is fantastic too
