I loved the location and the attentive staff. The breakfast was also good.

The only thing I didn’t like was the uncleanliness of the room. Maybe it hadn’t been used in a long time. I’m not sure. But the table was dusty and the refrigerator was stained and unclean. It did not make a good first impression.

This hotel is a genuine traditional Japanese ryokan. Their hospitality was impeccable, greeting me at the door anytime I arrived or left the facility and came up 10 mins later with tea and an afternoon snack. They actually refresh your linen and supplies every day (unlike the trend now where you take supplies from the lobby) and leave a little note with well wishes. There is information about how to correctly wear a yakuza (sp?)and use the private bath. The room is spacious - more like a suite than a room. I wish I had ordered their meals bc I’m sure they would have been equally perfect. Highly recommend.

There wasn’t a thing I didn’t like.

My favorite part of this stay was the hospitality of staff. They always greeted me upon arrival and gave me slippers to wear, put away my shoes/strollers, helped with any questions I had, taught me Japanese haha. The staff made my bed everyday, cleaned my room, left sweet Japanese treats and kind notes wishing a good day, the room was so cozy and the bath tub was small but nice and comfortable, the water pressure was very good. Not enough space to say good things!!!

There was some dust on decorative plants. It didnt bother me too much but just letting you know! Air conditioner remote controller could be explained with a diagram? in English. I couldnt use the remote control well because it was only in Japanese.

It’s a very cute traditional Ryokan with lovely staff. The rooms are cute, they bring you tea and a sweet every day. We tried the traditional Japanese breakfast which was a nice experience

There are lots of rules about where you can wear shoes which is fine but you need to leave your shoes at the front entrance and give the key back every time you go out. It’s just a bit annoying. The futons are not comfortable at all - we added an extra two futons to the ones they set up for us. The bathroom is very old.

The hotel is a classic Ryokan style. All the rooms (private and common) are in Japanese style. There are small public baths as well. In the back, there is also a small zen garden. The staff is very lovable, they also bring tea and small sweets in your room if you come home before 19h. I really appreciate the location of the hotel: it is closed to train and metro of the station Karasuma Oike, as well as close to the main street and to the east part of the old city.

It was a lovely traditional accommodation in the historic district. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Perfectly made sure my stay was pleasant. After a heavy rain they dried our shoes themselves which was a pleasant surprise. I had my best sleep on the tatami floor bed and the little onsen was also very clean and pleasant.

The facilities look old but they are clean and functioning. I don't think there was anything I didn't like at the end. I can only recommend it! Arigato gozaimas!

The service was impeccable. From them bringing afternoon tea, to them loaning you an umbrella, to them guiding you to your room and teaching you on the customs of staying at a ryokan. This has been my favorite place to stay in all of Japan, and if I'm ever in Kyoto again, this is the first place I'm booking.

The staff was so friendly and polite. They carried my luggage to my room and explained the hotel services to me in details with patience. I bought the breakfast when I arrived and it was sooo good. The room was very comfy. It was larger than I thought and I love the traditional Japanese style that it was able to maintain with a fantastic garden view attached to my room. I had the best stay in this hotel. Highly recommend!

Very good service, clean room, very pretty garden walk, staff is very nice and accommodating. My room had a Kotatsu which was amazingly amazing and very comfortable futon.

I was a bit tall for this establishment being 6'6 makes things a bit difficult for any person, they did what they could to help me out. Bit of an older ryokan so keep that in mind, still recommend for the experience.

It was an amazing traditional inn that really gave you a japanese cultural experience. The staff were super friendly and they served us tea and japanese sweets when we returned each day. Not to mention the cute origami and well wishing messages they left next to the pillows whenever the beds were made. The private bath was lovely and super relaxing!

There wasn't anything bad to say about our stay.
