Yo, the location of this hotel is 🔥. Literally a 2-min walk from Shin-Okubo station, so getting around Tokyo was mad easy. Flew into Narita, hopped on the Skyliner, quick transfer at Nippori on JR, and boom—I’m there. Plus, it’s walking distance to Kabukicho, which is a total vibe if you’re into the late-night scene. One night, I hit up Magnet in Shibuya to catch DJ Kocoakashimokita, and no joke, I walked back to the hotel with zero stress. The area is super chill and safe—perfect for late-night adventures. Highly recommend if you wanna be in the heart of everything.
The only downside? Having to leave and head back to Busan! Staying at this hotel gave me just a taste for more, and now I’m already planning my return. It’s like ordering ramen and realizing you need extra noodles 🍜. If I could’ve stayed longer, I definitely would have—this place has me wanting a second serving!

I loved the hotel and the location. Really accessible. It is right by Shin-Okubo and Okubo stations, and a stop away from the more busier Shinjuku stops. It is right near a lot of restaurants. It is a diverse neighborhood with lots of Korean, Chinese and southeast asian establishments. I think the accommodations were amazing, a lot of nice touches and helpful staff. I loved the snack/water stations. I loved the calming ambient music played in the halls.
The hotel is so close to the station that you can hear the train melodies and announcements. For some people this may be a negative, for some people this may be a positive. This part of town may be busy and noisy no matter what, so I did not see it as a negative for myself. Only thing I can say is that there is no elevator. Not a big deal for me, but might be a consideration for others.

The hotel is located in an extremely popular neighborhood, which places it perfectly for a lot of nightlife. Being a 5-minute walk from Shin-Okubo station (and the Yamanote Line), it's really easy to get just about anywhere, and a little further is Okubo station, which connects to the Tokyo Metro to get even more places. The location is basically ideal as a home base from which to explore. There's a lot in the surrounding area as well, including lots of food options--especially Korean food. The popularity of the area does make it extremely crowded, so you'll find yourself in crowds quite often, and it can be somewhat loud at night, but it wasn't an issue for me. Plus, most of my days in Tokyo were busy enough to tire me out. The room is definitely small by American standards. I've had larger dorm rooms, but the floor plan is thoughtful, and it provide enough space for what you need. If you want to just stay at the hotel all day, this wouldn't be the ideal choice, though. They do offer some amenities, like razors, toothbrushes, etc., in case you forgot or couldn't bring them. Overall, I think it's an incredible value if you can book it.
Not much was really objectionable. The toilet was pretty close to the bathroom door, but at 6' (183 cm), I was still able to use it comfortably.

Nice hotel in a quiet side street, yet very close to the Shin-Okubo JR station. I chose this place mainly because of the location and because it provided a good value for price. The room was small but sufficient for me and I especially liked the free drinks/snacks/toiletry products they provided. Although it's supposed to be a self-service hotel, staff was still available and very helpful when needed (e.g. for storing luggage)
From my room I could hear the nearby trains. It wasn't too loud and didn't bother me at all but for people who are more noise sensitive a pair of earplugs might be recommended

Stayed for 3 nights and felt it was perfect for a lone-female traveller. Location is 2 mins from Shin-Okubo station which has great links to the rest of Tokyo. You have to walk down a side street from the main road but I felt totally safe and comfortable - it’s well lit and there’s always people around so it’s nothing bad or dodgy. Bed was comfy, room is small but works for a lone-traveler (I was in 301) - i had space to store my luggage closed and would just open up as and when I needed to change etc. usb plug by the bed and another plug on the desk. Ac unit - I didn’t need to use it but was good it was there if needed. Bathroom is compact but clean and functional. They provide shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and hand soap. Shower pressure is powerful and lots of towels provided plus a robe and slippers. There is also a mini fridge in the room. They also provide free water (hot/cold), tea and other small amenities. Check in and out was simple, staff are really lovely. I couldn’t transfer my luggage to next location from the hotel but i just did it from the nearby 7/11. Noise wise - you can hear the station but the trains stop after midnight but start up again around 5:30 - this wasn’t an issue for me as I’m used to noise but if you’re sensitive they do have ear plugs - but personally it wasn’t bad and I slept well. There is no lift but they staff carried my luggage up to my room when I arrived and fortunately it wasn’t that heavy for me to carry back down. Would stay here again!

The location of the Hotel is great. Just a short walk away from a subway station that will connect you to most of the main lines in Tokyo. Although the Hotel is located off a side street off a busy road, I found that the noise was not an issue at night. Hotel room is small but great for individual travellers. AC unit, free wifi, good sized shower room. Room was clean, plenty of towels are provided and complimentary shampoo/body wash is provided.
Very minor issue: There is a small refrigerator in the room however I could not get mine to work (Note: I forgot to mention this to the staff, so they were not aware of this during my stay and did not have an opportunity to resolve the issue)

Well designed rooms that give a cozy feeling. Clean and functional at the same time within a great location. The Yamanote-LIne is 1 minute away and I also walked to Shinjuku some times in about 10 Minutes. The staff is very welcoming, helpful and happy to keep your luggage before/after your stay. Also my room was equipped with a western-style walk in shower instead of the standard japanese tub-bathroom, which I do not remember seeing in the listing, but that is a big plus for me! Others mentioned the noise from the train lines but I stayed in two different rooms in this hotel and never perceived the noise to be on an intrusive level. You can hear it, but only as distant background noise. If you are sensible to that, the hotel provides earplugs. I did not use earplugs and slept well, as a light sleeper.
The Room was small but I did not fly all the way to Japan to sit in my room, so that did not actually matter to me.

Really friendly staff, super helpful. Matsunoi is compact, clean and very tidy, extremely reasonably priced. a perfect location for the single traveller in Tokyo, great base for the traveller who is out and about seeing the sights and sounds of Tokyo all day. Particularly enjoyed the darjeeling toiletries and little bathroom! Thanks again Hotel Matsunoi
No real complaints at all! Being by the trainline you can hear the train doors beeping in the evening but it’s not very loud, that’s the nature of staying in a busy city. There were earplugs free to use if needed.

The room, location and amenities. The hotel is 3min away from the train station. There were tons of restaurants around. I believe the area was somehow a "Korean" town becase majority were Korean restaurants and shops. It was 10min away from Kabukicho area if you like large crowds, clubs, drinking, and more restaurants. I like how it was also just 10min away from the airport limousine pickup/dropoff point to Narita airport. It was so wasy travelling around because the station near the hotel is within the Yamanote line. The room for one person was just perfect for me. They give you toiletries and snacks. Coffee and tea are free as well. You can heat up your food from the oven. 7/11 is just arouns the corner too. The hotel was very clean and I didn't hear any noice from other rooms excepr thw sound of the train and cars which was not a big deal for me.
That it's always fully booked. I booked 6 months back. And they don't have a lift if you have big bags. But the staff carried it for me.
