This is a lovely place! The lagoon out front is awesome and perfect for a swim. The cabin we had was great. One thing I didn’t like is that you can’t close the bathroom door from inside the bathroom. I was with my husband so no big deal but for others it may be a bit uncomfortable. The location is beautiful, however, you need to travel about 15 minutes off-road to get there. It’s not near Bacalar’s town at all— after the dirt road (which really requires all-wheel drive) you must travel on the highway to get to town. We had my husbands truck so it was fine for us but did make the trip a bit different than we thought because we had to plan for being in town all day as the trip back and forth throughout the day would be too much. If you want to chill at the facility the duration of the trip it would be perfect and relaxing, however there were not exactly suitable paddle boards or kayaks to use. I think if we had that, we could have stayed at the property a whole day without needing to travel to other parts of the lagoon for activities.

Bathroom door didn’t close from the inside, toilet clogged easily, a bit of sewage smell, and no paddle boards or usable kayaks with paddles.

What an incredible find!! As soon as we saw this place, we were convinced - but it’s even better in person. The whole setting is tranquil and having access to the water made our Bacalar experience. We kayaked and snorkelled out from the dock and lazed around on the sun beds. The cabana in the evening is great to relax in and we even saw fireflies dotted around. The cabin itself was rustic, but stunning and the bed was huge and beyond comfy. We had one of the best sleeps we’ve had since being in Mexico. Some of the rooms do have aircon (which isn’t advertised), but even without it, being next to the water really cools things down and we would have been fine with only the fan. All in all, an exceptional experience.

The place is absolutely amazing and stunning. It is right at the lake so you can swim and they also have kayaks to just use. The woman speaks perfect English and is super sweet and helpful. The food is also really nice and there's nice places to chill.

First night I had a nice warm shower, yet second night we had to move to another cabin for which we had to pay quite a bit more and there was no hot water. It was raining all day and I was sick so I was very dissapointed. I told them and e was supposed to turn on the hot water again, but next morning it was still cold...

It has a beautiful and quiet view of the lagoon with ample seating. It is more like glamping without windows, only screens on the windows. There were no loud noises or animals waking us up, it was a nice quiet site with amazing views.

Their food prices are steep, but the breakfast of fruit and toast is sufficient. The road to the villa is rather rugged and very slow going, and the hotel is 20 minutes from the town of Bacalar. If you want to be near Los Rapidos or Canal de Las Piratas this place will take you a bit to get to there so be ready to drive a little.

Heaven! This place is so peaceful and beautiful. With only a few guests staying at Villa Santuario we almost felt like we had this magical place to ourselves. There’s literally no sound to be heard besides the sounds from birds, squirrels and the occasional lake sounds. If you’re looking for convenience, plenty of facilities and easy access this place may not be for you. If you’re looking for peace and quiet, nature and a true escape this may very well be the place you’re looking for. We absolutely loved the rustic setting and the lazy days on the lake and it seemed like all guests respected that this was a place for tranquility. Will definitely return if I get the chance.

Food in the restaurant was a bit pricy.

This is a very special location and wonderful host the mom of the owner is wonderful and the food is delicious. Our dog loved the place too. The owner and his Dogs weren't on site so cant comment on that, but the stay was well worth the value. The morning beauty, the silence and peaceful area, the lovely cozy place to sleep, we loved it!

The shower pressure was a little slow, with no AC, but these are all understandable for the price and having to use a generator to use Fans. I am glad I didn't know about no AC because I typically wouldn't book it, but not knowing, it wasn't bad at all, and I would be glad to book again.

This place is an oasis of tranquility. Great access to the lagoon with a private pier with hammocks and sun loungers. There is free kayaks too. The huts ("cabañas") look great and have a really authentic feel. Decoration in the bedroom is fab. There is mosquito nets to all bedrooms. Windows have no glass, just the mosquito nets and white curtains, but this was not a problem for us. The bed was really comfy. Unfortunately there is no wardrobe or place to hang your clothes but we only stayed one night so not an issue for us. The staff were wonderful and super attentive. They offer free wifi and free parking They offer free breakfast which is coffee, toast and fruit. It was delicious. If you want a bigger breakfast you also have the option to order more food

Please expect that the path to the road is approx 2km of dirt track. We had read this in the reviews and as long as you are prepared it is OK. The owner also sends you detailed instructions before you arrive. As it is so secluded, it is beneficial to use the restaurant there at night. (I wouldnt want to drive the dirt track in the dark!!!! But i guess you could take a taxi). We had burgers in the restaurant and they were really tasty. Cocktails were also great. Restaurant is a little expensive, but no other places around really.

It was not only a beautiful location but Norma was very welcoming. It was my first taste of paradise. The breeze by the lagoon and the trees in the garden were just perfect. The fresh water in the lagoon was always the right temperature. It was quiet and extremely relaxing. Norma welcomed us with a nice meal with all local and delicious foods.

I did not realise the access road was a dirt road. We were lucky to have a SUV but persons traveling with a regular car will need to pay close attention because there are some big bumps in the road.

Very peaceful, surrounded by nature and right on the lake with kayaks and paddle boards to use.

The breakfast included is a small plate of fruit and coffee anything more substantial you have to pay for. There are no shuttles so taxis into the centre cost a lot if you go out. The room was nice and comfortable but only had small netting and sheets as curtains so people could see into the room when the lights are on but it does mean that you get beautiful sunshine to wake you up in the morning.

The hotel was amazing.The place looks run down in some of the photos, but in person it's great, and clean and much better than that I was expecting. The host is super helpful and friendly. The location is far from the city, but if you want a more secluded, and quiet area this is the place for you. Otherwise, if you refer city life, choose somewhere else. This place is great for those who want to just chill and enjoy the hotel.
