Yes, it is indeed a standard 20-ft-shipping-container you are staying in. We were well aware and very curious about how it had been adapted (inside and out). In this particular container (painted in bold dark colours) there was a kitchenette on the left, a bed in the middle, and at the end, separated via a sliding door, a bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. Outside: This container had a large deck attached to it with an outdoor bath and a lovely semi-private (enclosed by plants) garden area. Parking was directly next to the entrance, very handy. We arrived late - which was a non-issue, thankfully, as we could just pick up the key from a box at the reception. There we met a lovely lady there who explained where we had to go (not sure if she was one of the owners). It was a cold evening, so thankfully there was an electric radiator in the container with which we could heat up the place very nicely, although it took some time. An additional blanket was also being provided because during the night it got quite cold. The Holiday Park is located directly at the sea and especially this container, like literally a stone's throw away.

Unfortunately there was an unpleasant smell in the container that was quite persistent, despite both sliding door being wide open when we arrived. Also, the carpets/rugs in the entry and kitchen area are in need of a deep clean (maybe removing might be a good idea as there is a lot of foot-traffic and underneath probably the same lovely wooden floor that is in the bathroom?). A light above the kitchenette would have been handy.

We arrived around 8 p.m. at the beach and was able to get the keys to the room and had a glance at the stunning sunset at the beach. the room is tiny but fully equipped with shower and toilet and everything. The best part is it has a outside bathtub which allowed us to do stargazing while having a hot bath! The sky is so clear and dark and you can see the Milkyway with bare eyes. All this while hearing the sea not far away is truly a once in a lifetime experience. We would definitely rate this container styled room 11 on a 10 point scale!

somehow the fridge was not turned on when we arrived.

Loved the location and could hear the sea as we fell asleep. The container was really comfortable. We had a barbecue on the decking and it was very private with the shrubs all around. Parking was next to the container. The shower and toilet were in the container behind sliding door. The kitchen had all we we needed. The laundry was also a bonus.

WiFi was weak unless we went over to the reception area.

Loved the location, great for riding the West Coast Wilderness ride ( the river was easy to cross despite the bridge closure at this time of year ). Sue and Andy and team are great hosts. Loved the Nespresso!

I stayed in a converted container, it was perfect for 1 or 2 people. Well equipped just a little hot when closed up on a sunny day. But there’s not much to dislike here!

This place is beyond fabulous! All the little touches, the decor, the comfort…. Sensational! I came here for a bit of “time out” and it was perfect. Andy dealt with a maintenance issue I had in my original accommodation by upgrading me to one of the domes so I was lucky enough to experience two kinds of accommodation they have to offer and both were 10/10! I will most definitely be back 😊

We loved how our little unit had everything we needed without being cluttered. The hosts seem to have thought of everything, and we enjoyed all the wee touches like the rubber duck and bath bomb for the outdoor bath. The view from bed out to the beach was great too. We can't wait to come back again!

One improvement I think could be made would be to improve the lighting over the bench. With the main lights behind you it could be a bit tricky to see what you were doing in the kitchen. Perhaps a strip of LED lights above the bench could be added?

The place is literally by the beach. We only stayed one night, but we were considering staying longer as the place is quiet and perfect for relaxing. We stayed in one of the cabins with the outdoor bath which was, honestly, heaven.

West Coast is pretty rainy so I think a sort of pull-out cover that would shelter the outside deck could be ideal so that you can enjoy the outdoor bath regardless of the weather.

Staying in the shipping container was a novelty. We enjoyed not being in hotel but having many of the comforts (ensuite bathroom, kitchenette, coffee maker, etc.). The location was quiet and the beach was lovely (although not a swimmable beach). Nice to be in nature without having to camp.

The second day we stayed was warm and sunny. When we returned to our container in the evening it was hot from being closed all day. There was no fans and only 2 very small windows with screens. We opened the sliding door a crack to try to cool it enough to sleep. Unfortunately bugs like me. Despite a lot of bug spray I had welts on my arm and neck and no sleep. Providing netting and a fan would be a great addition to the unit.

The maxi pod was very comfortable and accommodating. The facilities provided were fantastic, it had everything we needed, loved the bath on the deck (plus the plush robes). It was so private and cosy. The bed was also the most comfortable bed we slept in our entire 2 weeks in NZ.

Would have been nice to have a portable fan (although the breeze was good, we didn't want to leave doors open overnight)

Great location on the Ross foreshore a wild west coach beach. Excellent park facilities including laundry and cooking area. The cabin (container) itself was very well laid out with excellent shower and comfy bed. Also an outdoor bath which we did not use (wish we had stayed here longer!). Ross also has a great little country pub.
