I recently stayed at The Scandic Vulkan, and while it may be a bit far from the city center (for walking), it more than makes up for it with its fantastic breakfast, friendly staff, and comfortable accommodations. The highlight of my stay was undoubtedly the breakfast. Each morning, I was greeted with a bountiful spread that catered to all tastes. The selection was impressive, ranging from pastries to hot options like eggs, bacon, and local specialties. The quality of the food was top-notch, and everything was fresh and flavorful. The breakfast area was cozy and inviting, making it a perfect spot to start the day. The staff indeed went above and beyond to ensure my stay was enjoyable. From the moment I checked in, I was met with warm smiles and a genuine eagerness to assist with any needs or questions. Their friendliness and professionalism added a personal touch to my experience, making me feel right at home. The only downside to this excellent hotel is its distance from the city center. It's further out, so you'll need to factor in some travel time to reach the main attractions and shopping areas. However, this location could be a positive if you're looking for a quieter, more relaxed environment away from the hustle and bustle. Public transportation is accessible, and plenty of good restaurants and coffee shops are nearby. Despite the longer commute to the city center, my stay at The Scandic Vulkan was thoroughly enjoyable. The excellent breakfast and outstanding service from the staff more than compensated for the distance. If you are okay with being a bit further from the action, I highly recommend this hotel and prefer a peaceful retreat with great amenities. It's a hidden gem that offers excellent value for a relaxing stay.

Nothing.

This was the nicest hotel we stayed in during our three week tour of Scandinavia. The hotel was modern, well maintained, and close to public transit that we used frequently. The included breakfast was varied and plentiful. We appreciated the in-room safe for keeping our travel documents.

The front desk staff were efficient didn't seem to want to go out of their way to be helpful. We arrived at about 7PM on Sunday. We were hoping to eat in a nearby restaurant but the nearby ones were all closed early. We asked at the front desk (after waiting about 5 minutes for the staff member to get off of the phone) were we might find a nearby restaurant. He merely shrugged his shoulders and said the he didn't think anything was open on Sunday evening. We left the hotel after using Google to find a restaurant nearby and happened to see a gentleman carrying some take out. We asked him were he got his food and he was able to direct us to several nearby restaurant that were open.

The Breakfast is really good. There's a lot of choices. The location is quite near to the centre, I just need to walk for about 5 mins to reach the bus stop. The room is clean, I also like the style/design of the room. I would suggest next time, to a bottle or 2 of water for complimentary. Most of the hotels that I've stayed have complimentary water, especially when guest reach late night and groceries are closed.

Overall, I like my stay, we just need to figure out sometimes the location as we're on the new country and need to ask the reception. They were helpful enough to help the location we wanted to visit.

This is a modern hotel located in a vibrant part of the city. There is an arena immediately adjoining, as well as a market food hall directly behind. Furthermore, it is very close to the lively "Grünerløkka" area of the city, but still far enough away that you can get a good night's sleep.

The room we had required passing through the breakfast room to access. This felt a bit weird during breakfast time, and it felt like we were trespassing when the breakfast room was closed. The large windows also looked directly on to the food market hall behind, necessitating closed curtains for privacy when we were in the room.

Loved the helpful staff. Hotel decor is very contemporary, artistic, colourful and comfortable which (as artists ourselves), we loved as it created an artistic, welcoming and modern environment 🎨. The art exhibition around the foyer was fabulous adding to the wonderful contemporary feel. Rooms were comfortable, especially the beds and light but warm duvets and pillows. There was no kettle cups etc in the room but the Receptionist provided these when asked. Great view from the room looking to the hillside landscape. Great location for our concert at the Vulkan Arena. Also, the Food halls offered a fantastic range of foods next to the hotel. Breakfast was delicious with a fantastic range of cold and hot foods , tea/coffee etc. We loved our stay and would definitely return. First time in Oslo and we loved it we can't wait to return.

There was nothing we didn’t like.

Let us check in 2 hours early. Really appreciated this. Breakfast selection was good Next to the Vulcan Arena, a Bohemian style area of restaurants and bars Staff extremely friendly Beds quite comfortable Bathroom clean and in good condition Nice foyer area to sit in and relax

No kettle in the room for tea or coffee. There was a Music Concert nearby on both nights nearby. The noise was deafening in our room from mid afternoon, around 3 to 11pm. Wish we had been told this prior to booking!

Excellent location to stroll around Oslo. There is a nearby parking garage (elevator basically opens up a few metres from entrance of the hotel) for those who need to park the car. Great breakfast. The rooms are basic but clean and have excellent beds.

We were in a room to accomodate disabled guests which was a bit odd (especially the emergency button right over the bed which we were afraid to press by just moving during sleep) but no big issue.

We loved the location of this hotel. Right outside the hotel you can find a food hall, cafes, 2 ramen restaurants, a nice park, and bars. Upon walking 5-10 minutes, you can find some pretty cool restaurants and bars as well. We enjoyed being a walking distance from so many places. The hotel was quiet and quaint and we loved the view from our room. Breakfast was also great and the staff was friendly and helpful.

No complaints!

Nice hotel. Good rooms, clean. Very nice and tasty breakfast buffet with a lot of variety. The lunch pack option combines with the breakfast is a very good option for a lunch at a reasonable price. Not too far from Oslo center (20 min walk or 10 min with the bus).

We asked for a room with 2 single beds but we got a double bed room. Also personally I found the sleeping mattress really too soft.

Polite and considerate staff. Large selection of different types of food for breakfast. Very quiet.

Could not find the stairs to go between floors (and work some of the breakfast off) so always had to use the lift. Hotel was further from the rail station than we were led to believe (Booking.com stated 700m, about 10 mins walk - Google maps stated 1300m, 20 mins walk)
