Great location and warm, very hospitable staff. Great breakfast in room and lovely welcome snack/drink upon arrival. We were lucky to have the hot tub room which was welcome after a cold, rainy day of sightseeing. The room is a little small but very cozy and well maintained. Parking was fine on the street but beware of the possibility of some very narrow roads if you are using GPS and driving straight to their location. we opted to park on a more distant neighborhood street(free) and walking up the hill with our bags. Plenty of restaurants nearby.

The unique decor The spacious deluxe suite The great aircon and hot shower The super comfy bed The views The quiet location The staff are excellent The pillows The jacuzzi The breakfast delivered to your room The keyless entry Being upgraded to a deluxe suite Being surprised with birthday cake for my birthday
It is VERY steep to get up there, but no problem when the lift is working or you can get a bus. Walking down is fine! The breakfast pastries don’t taste fresh The ensuite could use some shelving above the light switch, so you have somewhere to put your toiletries

The staff at Solar Antigo were exceptional. They went out of their way to be freindly, thoughtful and accomodating. The location is near the university and is on a hill, with a narrow road, but there is a parking lot close by to leave your car. GPS is a little funky in finding the hotel. The breakfast each morning was delivered by a cheery employee. The room was updated and had a big jacuzzi tub but we did not use during our stay. The decor is a little modern, bright colors, but very comfortable. There is not an elevator so you will have to walk up stairs if your room is not on the ground floor. The staff suggested 2 outstanding restaurants which we dined in and were amazing. The staff also provided laundry service and the laundry was folded so nice we hated to pack it! Wish we could have spent more time in Coimbra as it is a beautiful city. The Solar staff will go out of their way to make your trip memorable.
As mentioned, the property is on a hill so be prepared to walk down and up the hill to visit the main square of the city. There is a lift for the return trip back to the hotel but we did not employ it.

Staff very welcoming and informative upon check-in. Took the time to show us on the map some points of interest such as tours and restaurants. Shown to our room, we had deluxe suite so very comfortable. Staff replaced bottles of water each day, linen, cleaned room and brought breakfast to the room at requested time. Overall a pleasant stay, close to downtown and with some amazing views.
Very steep walk to downtown, as it was an old building ceiling was low and had to watch your head, be aware that a fraternity house is close by, so because the room was right on the street you could hear party goers and people and cars going past.

Everything was what we expected for our couple's escape. The bed was astonishingly comfortable and with a classy touch on it. The view of the bedroom was great, you could see the whole city centre. The bathroom and the hot tub were very clean and spacious. The breakfast was delicious and it could be described as a "melange" of flavours available. From cereal, to fruits and amazing breads available, you could even get your own chocolate milk with the materials they gave you. Also to not forget, that we were received with champagne and homemade cake made by the hotel staff. The staff members were very helpful and welcoming! To summarize 5 out of 5 stars in our humble opinion, can't wait to be back!
Nothing everything was great

Catarina’s warm welcome with sparkling wine and coconut cake delivered to our room made us feel special. She was very helpful in recommending places of interest and restaurants to us. We loved the breakfasts in our room every morning, carefully prepared and delivered by Bianca, always with a friendly smile. Our room was spacious and beautiful, and the jacuzzi was a wonderful treat, as was the view from our windows. Unexpectedly, the drinks from the bar were all included in the overall price! Although high up, very near the university, it is not at all far to the city centre. We LOVED our stay at this exquisite hotel, and are looking forward to going back!
Nothing.

Every room is very different, but don’t miss #303- unbelievable. Palatial bedroom area with a huge brick hot tub and romantic dining area adjacent. Yes, I said brick, as is the ceiling- view of the whole town and hillside buildings beyond. White, robes, breakfast served to your room by delightful girls, perfect bed … just amazing. Parking on the street difficult and only 6 hour limits, so feed the meter at 8am and 2pm. Great funicular at the top of the street. Great access to town in either direction. But note that Coimbra is a town built for Billy goats - everything is a hike uphill - in both directions!!!!!
We didn’t want to leave.

breakfast, room, location. They gave us champagne, and upgraded us to a room with a jacuzzi. The woman at the front desk was really nice. The room was great and we had a nice view out our window.
It seemed like the the bathroom got all wet super easily which was a little frustrating, and during the night we could hear the students walking, chanting, and singing right outside the door of our room since it opened up to the street. It was okay because we only spent one night there, so it was an interesting experience, but it definitely would've gotten old if we stayed multiple nights and that were happening every night.

We had a very memorable stay at Coimbra Solar Antigo hotel. Hotel is located at the core of the old Coimbra nearby the Unvirestity. Breakfast was brought into our room in the morning and it was pretty good. Staff especially on the reception was welcoming and very caring, comfort and cleaninnes were exceptional. Overall this stay left us with quite unusual feeling because we felt that we got not only night at the hotel but a whole lot more of the unique experience with old historical buuilding, very unusual but quite comfy room design, beatufil city views from the small windows, and even singing studetns in their black robes on the old town streets.
Washrooms were very small but this is medieval building so narrow spaces should be expected.

Brilliant experiance staying at this property. The room was amazing and exactly as advertised. A big 2 person bath, shower, kitchen facilities and the view over the city. Amazing It really was the highlight of our recent trip to Portugal. The room was at the very top of the building so we had no noise at all. The staff were friendly and went out of their way to please. We were provided with a complimentary bottle of Champagne and some cake which was very well received. The breakfast the following morning was also amazing. Highly recommend this place and I'm sure we will be back
