Nice clean room and lovely view from my balcony and terrace. Beautiful view all around. I loved the Spa, again with beautiful views and quiet. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good. I'd love to come agaiin as I could properly relax.

It is better if you have a car, when you go to stay there longer. I stayed one week and went there for hiking but to walk to the start of most trails iit takes a good 1 to 2 hrs. Apart from the Nun Path that starts right at the hotel and takes you to the village. It is a short pretty and steap trail. There is a bus service to Funchal and Curral but not very often. I found the time table a bit complicated. Around the hotel, there is a good souvenir shop and café that gets quite busy with regular tour busses arriving for the viewing point at the hotel. This is at the font of the hotel but the rooms and balconies are at the back and it is peaceful there, though not as sunny as the front.

The view from our rooms was amazing — pictures can’t capture it. We could also enjoy the view from the nice swimming pool area, and from a popular viewpoint a short walk from the hotel. The hotel is a nice starting point for other walks, e.g. down the beautiful corral to the village below. There is a touristic outlet adjacent to the hotel. The hotel restaurant offers decent food both for dinner and breakfast. Staff is friendly, helpful and competent. Public transport offers are limited, but you will get to Funchal in short time with car or taxi. I highly recommend this hotel.

The views of our room were beautiful. Room 201. Had a balcony with seating and table and a little room before the balcony with sofa, table and chairs. Had restaurant which had amazing views also. Also connected to a shop with food, drinks and souvenirs. Drive up was intimidating but lovely - just be slow and careful as can be narrow as well as large tourist buses go through the same route for view point for other tourists.

No air conditioning as it gets humid and warm. Asked for fans but they did not offer. Bed is not very secure, little movement can bang it against the wall.

We arrived a day early from when the booking was made yet the staff were able to get us into a room. (They had two ongoing weddings in two different areas that day and it appeared that they were absolutely booked). The showers were also awesome - with noticeably good pressure. Being from North America and travelling through Europe, the lack of water pressure in showers are noticeable but this is place had awesome showers with great water pressure. The views are excellent. You get a sliver of sea view from the front of the hotel but you are staying here to be within the mountains and enjoy the beautiful mountain skies at night as well as the fresh air. It is convenient to stay here when hiking the famous Pico De Arieiro because the road up to this hotel connects to the road up the mountain.

Quite an interesting drive up the mountain - which may not be for everyone as it requires a relatively skilled and/or confident driver to get here safely.

The views were spectacular! The restaurant food was great. The pool and jacuzzi were nice. Loved the towel warmers in the shower and the bathrobes that came with the room. The beds were the most comfortable on the island. Loved that each room had a balcony overlooking the Valley of the Nuns.

The wifi didn't work the second night of our stay, hotel staff blamed it on the fog. There is barely any cell phone reception in the hotel, so there was no way to communicate with the outside world that night. Although the jacuzzi was a great touch, the water wasn't very hot. And although the restaurant food was great, it was one of the most expensive places that we dined at on the island, and it was not worth the money spent.

The room was spacious and had a patio and an outside sitting area. The pool and whirlpool were very much appreciated after a hot day of hiking. The resort is very isolated in the clouds (at times) with a wonderful view of Nun's Valley below. Breakfast was very nice and the restaurant was top notch.

Being perched on the edge of a cliff 1,100 metres above sea level is great but it is a bit of a commute to Funchal and other restaurants and activities.

The hotel offers beautiful views of the surroundings. The staff in the restaurant was very friendly and helped compensate for the poor food quality.

We got a 2-room apartment, including a baby crib beside our bed, although we booked a simple double room. Unfortunately, the dormitory was separated from the balcony by the second room, which we kept closed as it was not heated. So we had no window in our room - which we expected when we booked. One morning, we had breakfast at 09:30 and noticed almost all the food was gone. Nobody bothered to refill. I understand that refilling might lead to food waste when most of the hotel guests have already eaten, but they could have offered us some supplements from the kitchen. We asked for some veggies, but we were told there were none. The restaurant was disappointing.

Nice comfortable room, beautiful location, convenient parking.

Not mainly the hotel's fault but it's generally loud, expect harsh noises after midnight and also starting at 5AM, not good soundproofing in the rooms. The location would suggest a nice calm stay in the mountains with birds chirping (which you can have for short periods) but mostly you only get loud backpacker groups slamming doors, yelling along the corridors and their drones flying around the hotel when you want to look at the beautiful landscape.

The location is perfect, the views are stunning. The breakfast was good as well. We're definitely going back there next time we're in Madeira.

There is no AC which is necessary in August. Also, the lights in the room are quite dim, there was no strong main light in the room, so could be a challenge to read. Also, on our last day we wanted to use the pool area before checking out. It opens at 10 am, but when we arrived around 10:15 the pool was still covered and the jacuzzi was off with cold water inside. We waited for a couple of minutes, but no one showed up so we had to leave.

The view was great, it was just really nice to look out the windows and see the mountains close by. The hotel is in a pretty nice area with not much around which was a plus for me. Breakfast was good. The price was great for what it offered. I would definitely recommend staying here for a night or two if you want a bit more of a quiet place. Just know that there's not much to do around.

They had a wedding reception in the evening which was a bit loud for a while. There's not much else around in term of restaurants so you either have to drive for a while or you can eat dinner in the hotel's restaurant.
