We liked our stay so much that we came back to stay again. The hotel has a beautiful ocean view, clean and comfortable rooms, good food, nice inside and outside pool, spa and sauna facilities.
My only complain is that hotel should correct information on Booking and don't say that the room has a balcony, if it doesn't. And please don't blame customers for believing information written while booking. Other than that, our stay was great and I would recommend this hotel to friends.

For a 4 star property, this hotel is outstanding.
I understand that i paid a "promotional price" so got a good deal, but the location of room was very disappointing, when you don't even get a view of the carpark, but a wall is awful. Rooms 337/338 are actually below driveway level.

Excellent breakfast with lots of choices. Staff are friendly and hotel and outdoor areas are immaculately clean. Room is comfortable and quite spacious. Appreciated the little treats in our room each day when we returned after hiking and sightseeing.
Free parking out front is quite limited and staff do not enforce the no parking areas. We had difficulty departing the hotel to catch our flight as a number of cars were parked illegally and had boxed us into our actual parking spot. Had to drive up onto the sidewalk and do some crazy maneuvers to get out of our spot.

It was our 2nd stay at the hotel. We love the location and the view from the balcony. The staff at the reception desk was kind and very helpful. The hotel area was huge, well organized, and decorated, which made us feel very comfortable.
For a short stay the breakfast was great but for a longer stay a bit monotone (more variety would be appreciated). The staff in the breakfast area was very welcoming and pleasant except one rude waiter, who treated us badly as 2nd sort clients. Overall clean, but one day we found fresh towels in the bidet (hopefully an accident, not a common practice).

The staff here are lovely. The rooms and all the facilities were spotless and really well kept (including the two pools and the gym). The location is really lovely: close to a bus stop to get into Funchal or only a 40-minute walk to the center. Lots of restaurants and shops are nearby. Breakfast is also great - really large selection of everything from yoghurt, fresh fruit, continental, and cooked (alongside a LOT of different egg choices).
The only slight issue was that we booked a room with a balcony and didn't get one - but the room was lovely regardless.

Absolutely loved my stay at this hotel! The service was impeccable, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure every aspect of my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The views from my room were stunning, offering a breathtaking panorama of the cityscape that made each morning and evening special. The pool area is a true oasis. It's beautifully designed with plenty of loungers and shaded areas, perfect for relaxing and soaking up the sun. The pool itself is pristine and inviting, making it hard to resist a daily dip. Overall, this hotel exceeded all my expectations. I can't wait to return and experience it all over again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and top-tier service.
Hard to think of anything.

Baia Azul is a very nice hotel, the room was nice, staff nice, very clean. The bar had music every night, a good location. Breakfast was good quality, near to the sea front, bars and restaurants, I can highly recommend
The room mix up spoilt our first day and nights stay, although it was sorted, it was unnecessary and avoidable and we really don’t agree with the reasoning, a little bit lame the excuse. There isn’t enough loungers for guests and we could never get a lounger until after 4-5pm onwards, which gave us an hour before the bar closed at 6pm. If you’re a pool lounger kind of person, this hotel sadly really isn’t for you.

Breakfast buffet was amazing, with absolutely stunning views. Rooftop bar was also fantastic--with the best amareto sour I've ever had, as well as many other great drinks. Marissa at the front desk was also amazing, and so sweet playing with our little son while we were checking in and he was so tired. The Italian and brunch restaurants directly across the road were convenient for after long days out exploring the island.
Access to beach isn't really a thing--the promenade that direction was closed (would have been nice to have been informed when we asked at the front desk for directions). That said, though, the pool was great (much better than the stoney beach), so we used that instead. Onsite garage was very helpful, but be aware the spaces are very compact.

Generally the hotel is nice, the room is spacious and nicely equipped. the pool area is decent and has a nice view.
There are few things I didnt like. E.g. when you get the room directed to the street (which we did) your balcony is right next to main street, which is very loud so it is impossible to have the balcony open or to sit there. But the most annoying thing, I have not had such expensive coca-cola in 3 weeks in the island. Even the in airplane it is cheaper. Also the bartenders were not very attentive. Also the hotel advertises a spa, but it is actually in their sister hotel, 5 min walk away. The breakfast was nice in terms of quantity a bit let of quality.
