Staff always helpful and friendly. Close to all sites we wanted to visit. Hotel was clean. Great breakfast and hot drinks always available.

Unfortunately there was a lot of building work nearby which made it noisy even at night. The wooden floor boards were noisy when other clients used the stairs late at night.

I cannot believe that we got into such a perfect room on the weekend of Saint John's festival! The workers (Maria, Chris) at this hotel are amazingly helpful and sweet. The bed was incredibly comfortable. We were pleased to have AC (which is not in ALL hotels in Europe.) The location was great because everything was around us. The breakfasts are beautifully arranged and tasty. (If you are leaving early, they will prepare the table and food for you.) We loved that we could open the windows directly to the street in front of us. (You might want earplugs if you are a light sleeper.) We would definitely come here again!

The hotel and personalization is fabulous. The only thing to be aware of is that THERE ARE HILLS HERE and cobblestone streets. Be careful where you walk. Taking a Bolt (like Uber) is inexpensive and quick.

The location is excellent, right in a historical building close to Ribeira, offering easy access to Porto's main attractions. Breakfast is included, and the staff is extremely friendly and attentive. Despite staying for only two nights, they cleaned our room after the first night while we were having breakfast, which was a thoughtful touch.

There is no elevator, which is common in historical buildings throughout Portugal, so it may not be suitable for those with mobility issues. While breakfast was good, there could have been more variety, but considering the limited number of rooms, this is understandable.

I had a wonderful stay at Cale Guest House, which is a very nice building situated in the heart of the old town. Very friendly and helpful staff, especially Ana who made me feel very welcome, providing a glass of port on arrival as well as recommending interesting places to visit and places locally to eat. A comfortable bed with my room cleaned every day, unlike a lot of hotels nowadays. A jar of biscuits and carafe of water in the room were a nice touch. I would definitely recommend this guest house for anybody visiting Porto and looking forward to returning soon.

Great location for exploring Porto. Right in the centre. Plenty of bars, restaurants and shops within 5 mins walking. Room was very clean and comfortable. Very large bed much appreciated as I'm 6 foot +. Lovely breakfast with a good range of fresh items, replenished constantly. Very helpful & friendly staff. All necessities provided. Really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend to others. No problem to us but be prepared for lots of stair climbing as 4 stories and no lift.

Having to take shower in the bath tub. Ditch the bath and put in decent shower cubicle.

Perfect location can’t escape hills in Porto but Cale is in a good position. Easy to get to main station, up, and river, down. Host very helpful and accommodating. Felt welcomed from the start. The room was great. Big and one wall of windows that face down to the river. Plenty of sitting area. Breakfast was good. Usual cold meats cheese fruit etc and freshly squeezed orange juice. Very friendly and kind. Would happily stay there again. Went with my 18 year old grandson who thought it was great so………

No lift but a listed building so they can’t have one

Brilliant central location, you can walk to all the main sights very easily. Lovely big room, beautiful south facing sunshine and wonderful views. Good breakfast with pasta del natas, croissants, warm rolls, hams, cheeses, yogurt, fresh orange juice, fruit and more- lots of choice. Very comfortable beds. It was really lovely to have a cup of Earl Grey tea made for us after busy days of sightseeing. Very friendly staff. Great tips about what to visit from the team. Great communication. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Everything! Location perfect in the historic area and a short walk to the river and the Ribeira area with all the cool restaurants and bars. The staff were all so friendly and helpful and took great pride in their lovely guest house. Breakfast was a classy simple continental affair with everything fresh and lovely coffee. Welcome drink (Port of course) on arrival was a nice touch. Rooms were spacious, we had a family room for 4 and it was very comfortable with a great balcony view. Rooms were classy being all white with high ceiling. Couldn’t fault anything and thoroughly recommend.

In terms of location, Cale Guest House is located almost at the center of the city, which makes it very easy to reach any part of Porto. However, if you come by car, it also makes it very hard to park near the guest house. Breakfast has somewhat limited options but was very good and always very fresh. We were received with two glasses of (very good) Porto wine, water and some cookies, free of change, which I found amazing. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable.

We had practically no view (if you don't count the view to the air condition units) and the window curtains were completely broken so every time we tried to look outside, they would fall. Room and bathroom were very plain, and the shower wasn't the best (I was almost afraid the shower head would fall on top of my head if I moved it even a little).

Host was super friendly and accommodating. Because we had to leave early one day, she made breakfast for us 30 minutes early. The hotel was very clean and comfortable.

We were on the top floor (6) without an elevator so the many flights of stairs were difficult. Our host carried one of our luggage pieces when we arrived but it was still a lot of steps each day. I will remember to ask next time!
