Location was amazing. A quiet oasis from the bustle of the street. Comfortable, historic. Great breakfast room. The staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. We had a twin room. The beds were larger than most twin rooms we've stayed in throughout Portugal and Spain so that was a bonus. Lovely view into the ancient courtyard.

One one day our room had not been cleaned. We let them know, thinking they would get someone asap as a courtesy but they did not unfortunately. We did ask for replacement towels, coffee pods and some bottled water which they did provide (while we were out of the room at dinner) however our room still had dirty cups right next to where they placed the fresh bottles of water?

The property was stunning and we received a lovely welcome at reception, as well as complimentary drinks! The view of the courtyard from our bedroom was stunning, and the bedroom itself was beautiful. The room had everything we needed, including aircon, water, tea, coffee, gorgeous Portuguese biscuits and lovely toiletries! The sunken bath was a huge hit!

The only criticism would be that the temperature of the bath water could have been hotter. We ran the hot tap for ages but it never got really hot.

Room 307 is at the end of a corridor so quiet plus it has an extra large terrace with sun loungers. We much appreciated the walk-in closet too. Breakfast was excellent.

Staff advised us to wait at a particular spot (the pharmacy) for our Uber but clearly forgot there were roadworks blocking the usual access which delayed our car's arrival. The (very small) indoor pool was rather cloudy. I didn't say anything as I though it was perhaps deliberate until I saw it crystal clear the following day. It shouldn't be allowed to get cloudy like that.

Great central location on pedestrian street. Nice, small, spa facility. Black-out blinds were amazing meant that we slept very well. Nice happy hour at the hotel bar. Welcome snack and drink were also very much appreciated.

Pool was rather small. Also, the number of emails I received asking to rate the hotel was excessive. Check-in seemed to require you to become a member of the hotel which is also completely unnecessary. I received way too many emails before and after my stay and found them all just a bit irritating.

Location - you are right in the center. Room was amazing, felt like a 5 star with all the details and good quality of materials used throughout the room. Loved the bathroom. Toiletries were nice as well - Rituals. Toilet has a spray bidet, which we prefer. Shower was excellent. Best of all was the view from the room, very magical. Breakfast was great. Good high quality options. I think they deserve their ranking after staying here. One of the best in Porto for sure.

Didn’t interact much with the staff. So it didn’t feel very personal in that sense and we felt we were given our space - that being said, if we needed anything we could just call them and it was sorted out immediately and professionally. You might need to carry your luggage for a bit as cars can’t access the road the hotel is on. But it’s no big deal as they are ready to help if you need it.

The breakfast was very tasty and plentiful. Eggs could be cooked to order. The staff were absolutely excellent, from the reception desk to the bar staff. The rooms were very comfortable and quiet. We had a beautiful view to the Cathedral. The location was perfect; we walked everywhere, including Gaia. The front desk staff ordered our taxi which was on time and had a wonderful driver.

I can't think of a thing.

The building and interiors of the hotel are worth the price alone, but when you add in the excellent location, the professional and friendly staff, the huge and varied breakfast (costs extra) and comfortable and extra long beds, you have a place I will come back to every time I visit Porto! This hotel is in the heart of old Porto, close to shopping, restaurants and the beautifully tiled train station. The shower was awesome. The lounge/bar near the lobby was beautiful and inviting. The indoor pool, sauna and spa were very relaxing and get you out of the heat in the summer afternoon.

Can’t think of a thing.

This is a beautifully restored building in an excellent location. Hotel has a small gym, pool sauna and steam room. We didn’t use these facilities but they are there if you want them. There is a nice lounge/ bar area beside the reception desk. The breakfast buffet is plentiful, excellent variety and quality and everything delicious. In addition to the buffet there is a menu of different egg dishes, pancakes and waffles made to order. The breakfast is served in the Bistro, which is the hotel’s restaurant in the evening and is a series of 3 adjoining rooms, 1 with the buffet and the other 2 with seating. It was a very pleasant area to enjoy a superb breakfast. Our room was very nice and had a beautiful large walkout patio, which unfortunately we didn’t use due to the inclement rainy weather.

There is a turn down service at night where they leave a chocolate on the bed and I feel that it might be a good idea to put the slippers out beside the bed at the same time so you are aware that they are there rather than hiding them in a drawer you may never use. Also only discovered the kettle on the last day, because that too is hiding on a top shelf in the dimly lit closet so it’s hard to see.

I love love this hotel!!! Just stepping inside is a beautiful experience on its own. I loved the architecture and the tastefully done interior design, they surely were able to work around an existing building. I loved the vaulted ceilings, the art pieces and just about everything in the hotel. Our room, with modern design, was a good size, with lots of space and a big balcony that looked out to the town and Vila Nova de Gaia and a little glimpse of the Duoro river. If it weren't too cold, we would have loved to stay and have our morning coffee there. The bathroom and toilet was also of good size. I loved that we had a coffee machine in the room. The hotel had a spa and a pool, which unfortunately I was not able to use because we were there for only 2 nights. But I would have loved to spend some relaxing time there. My most favorite part is the breakfast!!! The restaurant is just lovely, high ceiling, tastefully done interiors, everyday we had a table by the window that was overlooking Rua das Flores and we had those beautiful azulejos for a view in the morning! I kept thinking "where else would you want to be but here!" Needless to say, the breakfast spread was very good, lots of choices from breads to fruits, to pastries, to a variety of cheese and savoury items! I loved how it seemed to be so quiet in this place, just how I love to start my day. The hotel staff had been amazing! Very friendly and very happy to suggest places around Porto. They directed us to the best place to have the francesinha. :) The hotel is also in a very good location. It is along a pedestrianized shopping street but it wasn't too noisy (or at least we didn't feel it was like that). Even though it is on a pedestrianized street, there are taxis which have permits to drive thru this street and the hotel can help you with that. There are plenty of shops and places to eat. It is walking distance to just about everywhere!

The fact that we only stayed 2 nights! LOL! There is nothing that I don't like in this hotel!

Portobay Flores is about halfway up the hill from the river, on a pedestrian street in heart of the old town. If you are no longer in your twenties, that's a big plus since it means that you usually only have to climb half the hill for any given excursion. You can get to all the major sights of Porto on foot with ease. So for location: A+. Inside, the hotel is designed to integrate old stonework with new finishes and it feels classy and warm. The staff is very helpful and attentive. As for our room, and speaking for the man's role in couple's travel, there's little better in life than walking into a hotel room for the first time and hearing your wife say "Oh, this is beautiful!" So A+ there, too. Breakfast is included and is fabulous unless you're a cardiac physician. They'd got something for every taste in morning comestibles; you can have a full English breakfast, waffles or French toast, yogurt and fruit, cereal or oatmeal, charcuterie with gourmet breads, benets filled with Nutella, or, if you're a glutton like me, all of these at once. So that's another A+. We were there over Christmas, and we were a little concerned about being able to get a nice dinner since we figured restaurants would be mobbed. But the hotel put on a dinner that was spectacular; five courses with a high quality glass of wine paired with each. It was Michelin level stuff, and only 135 euros each. Where we live in San Diego a dinner like that, on Christmas eve, would have cost easily twice as much and maybe three to four times. One more A+.

I can't think of a thing to complain about.
