Super location, literally one pedestrianised street away from the quayside. Modern hotel with only 12 rooms , yet felt spacious with a breakfast mezzanine floor and a large lounge with a variety of comfy seating, lighting and books available on each floor. Bedroom modern although a little dark due to modern stylish lighting which looked the part but don't necessarily give the best light..Room 102. Lovely marbled bathroom with superb shower and good lighting, fresh towels and complimentary toiletries. Breakfast choices were good and included a selection of yoghurts, fresh fruit, cereals and nuts, bread, fresh rolls miniature cakes, juices, vast options for tea drinkers, good coffee machine, meats and cheeses and a small hot food offering. Staff held our bags after a 12noon check out which was great as we had a late evening flight.

The hotel is literally just inside a small cobbled alleyway which is buzzing on an evening with a variety of restaurant tables but does look a bit grubby in daylight! No complaints about the hotel, staff or facilities.

Perfect location. We even managed to get a room with narrow river view, even though the hotel itself is not right next to Douro river, but one block away. We loved the hotel interior with old construction visibility. Receptionists were great with smile on their face every time we met them. There are many restaurants around. Easy to start the walking tour around the historical city, or walk accross the Luis I bridge to the neighbour city Vila Nova de Gaia, opposite of Porto. Further away one can conveniently go either by metro or busses just short walk from the hotel. We warmly reccommend this hotel for anyone visiting Porto.

For us it didn't matter, but the location next to the river means lot of climbing to walk around the city.

I travel a lot, and I have never met someone as kind, helpful, cheerful, and passionate as Jose at the reception. If I were his boss, his salary would be doubled. The hotel has the best location in all of Porto. If you want to visit Porto and have everything close by, right in the heart of the city, this is the best choice. The breakfasts are very good. The room (superior room type) was excellent - very comfortable, quiet and spacious. Housekeeping staff did an excellent job each day when servicing the room. It was always pristine. Although in a very busy, lively part of town, it is a little sanctuary to get back to your room and chill after a busy day. Staff without exception were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was enjoyed each day and breakfast staff were always courteous. Reception staff likewise friendly and helpful. Thank you Descobertas. So glad we chose to stay with you!

No bar or common area to socialise in of an evening, but plenty outside options!

Location was excellent. good size room, comfortable beds, good shower, quality toiletries & very helpful reception team. They organised a taxi transfer to the airport which cost €30- cash paid in advance to reception) apparently other companies charge €50) It arrived exactly on time and the driver was very courteous and helped with our bags which at 5am was most appreciated.

The breakfast was somewhat disappointing. Very limited hot choice which was at best warm and very basic- hard scrambled eggs, tomatoes and usually some other type of vegetable. You had to boil a kettle to make tea which wasn’t ideal, especially where it was situated making it quite a hazard. Other breakfast choices were adequate but not especially appetising. The hot water in the bathroom was extremely hot!! So caution needed All the restaurants close to the hotel were very popular so booking well in advance is advisable.

The room we had was really spacious, and felt really clean and new. The bathroom was huge with a separate toilet from the shower and sink, which is always a bonus. We had views of the harbour through the building in front of us. The staff were always super helpful. The apartment was super close to the harbour, a cable car to get you to the top of Porto and the Gaia where all the wine cellars are located. We always walked everywhere which we loved.

The bed was really old, and had really deep body signatures in them. They were definitely due for replacing. We also noticed that there was panelling coming off of the wall in shared areas and underneath it was a lot of black mold. We also found a lot of the time the restaurants we wanted to go to were at the top of the hill meaning we spent a lot of time walking up the hill or catching the cable car up to go to dinner or lunch or just to sight see in general. The walk up is challenging to say the least.

Room was clean, air conditioning worked well, good location.

Wi-fi in rooms was terrible. Breakfast was disappointing. Lots of pastries, but most of them were quite bad.

Joseph, front desk receptionist, was an amazing host. He was very helpful and pleasant to talk with. The elevator was not working when we came in, so he brought our 2 bags upstairs to 3rd floor! 💪🏼 He answered all our questions and had our room ready before 3PM. Thank you so much Joseph for making our stay a pleasant one. 🙏👍🏼

Great location, just metres from the harbour but far enough away to avoid the harborside noise and crowds. Staff were very helpful and informative about places to visit, how to get there, where to eat. Breakfast was good with lots of choices. We were even given a takeaway breakfast on our last day as we left at 4am, before breakfast had started. Lots of nice little restaurants in the same lanew.ay. Our room was very comfortable. A nice area for reading or just relaxing (indoor) just outside our room

Nothing, everything was fine.

The breakfast was very good, with a range of choices. Delicious fresh fruit. The location was the star of the show - one street away from the waterfront right in the Ribeira district under the shadow of the Luis bridge. Bed was comfortable.

I thought the foyer and breakfast area were too dark. They were going for an industrial/raw look, but it was just so dark, I felt like I was going into a cave. There was noise from people on the street - after all we were in the middle of the action - but for my husband and me, it was not a problem because we brought ear plugs. Highly recommend those for travel.
