Lovely spacious hotel and outside area and garden. Our room was lovely with a balcony outside but abit chilly now it's Autumn. Breakfast was such a lovely choice, cooked breakfast, cereals, fruits & Yogurt etc. We had dinner in the restaurant a couple of times, food lovely and well presented. Good reasonable prices. All staff lovely and hard working and attentive. Lovely hotel central to get about. Do recommend mini bus tours of the Cotswolds. Great tour of the villages.

Only thing was not sure if the bedroom heater was on as could have done with room a little warmer but i could have asked, sure they would have sorted it out.

The hotel is on a major road,so easy to get to other places. Weather wasn't good but if it had been the gardens are nicely kept. Plus you can sit outside to eat/drink. There is a bar and restaurant. The receptionist who greeted us was very helpful and friendly. The hotel has a history of being a coaching inn. So the architecture is great. The room was kept clean.

The hotel is being refurbished which is great. Our room hadn't been done yet so some things needed replacing. We were a bit disappointed with the restaurant. We had to wait a while for the food which wasn't great. The staff were not as friendly as the receptionist.

The Holt is a very nice comfortable hotel. We visited during a stormy weekend and it was lovely to return to a nice warm room. It's good value for money but nothing in walking distance and breakfast not included so we didn't eat in the hotel. Disappointing that on the Saturday night they couldn't facilitate dinner bookings for guests unless prebooked due to a large booking. It meant driving 15 minutes in bad weather for a restaurant. Otherwise this is a great hotel for visiting nearby Oxford.

No option to have dinner in the hotel due to a large booking. Difficult to get parking as car park very busy.

Great location for exploring Oxfordshire/The Cotswolds. Friendly staff. Updated room (Superior Double). Great breakfast selection.

Soundproofing isn’t great due to it being an older building (the doors and walls are quite thin - could hear other guests coming and going, talking in their room. The bathroom was very cold (even though ours was a recently renovated room)…no heat in it whatsoever (and our stay was in January with temperatures in to minus numbers overnight). The restaurant was also very chilly (for dinner - the breakfast room was better)

Staff were good, the room was clean and relatively spacious. Bathroom was lovely and the bed was comfy

Travel cot had seen better days No hand wash or hand lotion in the bathroom The hot food area at breakfast wasn't open and the hotel was not serving lunch or dinner. We were given 2 days notice of this so we're unable to find another hotel in time. We should have been offered a discount or something to compensate the inconvenience. This nearly ruined the trip to be honest. Breakfast buffet was also not available and it was order at the table which was fine just not what was advertised when I booked the hotel. Overall extremely poor communication and customer experience

Excellent service in the evenings in the restaurant/bar. Very friendly and helpful reception staff. Nice warm room.

There was nothing that we didn't like, although a full sets of breakfast cutlery at the dining tables in the mornings would have been a slight improvement. Only knives, forks and napkins were set out for breakfast diners, and there was a distinct shortage of tea spoons next to where coffees and teas were available on a self-service basis.

The hotel and grounds were lovely, the food was very good, staff very friendly. Very clean and great location for exploring the Cotswolds.

The room itself was a bit of a let down, could have been designed better. The shower was rather small, and being a large lady found it claustrophobic with no room to manoeuvre, and the bathroom was big enough for a larger shower. Found the bed to be difficult to get in and out of due to the slopping roof, and the boxed in pipes, felt it would have been better turned 90⁰. Friends we were with had a far better room for the same price. Also TV remote was 't working properly and had to get out of bed to turn off when hubby had gone to sleep.

Face to Face staff were very helpful. Suspect they were too busy at times and phone calls rang out unanswered. Rooms were comfortable and quiet

Initial booking for an additional room was complicated when trying to do it directly with hotel when original booking was with booking.com. Quite frustrating. A process problem rather than a staff one. Many hotel rooms approached by steep staircase and long corridors - not suitable for elderly people with luggage.

The staff were all welcoming, professional and helpful. The food was excellent - good choice for dinner and good value - be aware that 'light bites' are larger than I expected (or wanted) but were well prepared and tasty. When my first choice for desert had sold out, then the second, the waiter got another freshly prepared and cooked for me. Breakfast was also excellent, as good a buffet as at more expensive continental hotels. I liked the history of the hotel, its name and so on. This all adds to its ambience. Sadly, the highwayman, Claude du Vall, didn't appear in our corridor!

Our room was on the snug side - OK for one night but would have been difficult for longer. The bathroom was even more snug but it was well fitted, spotless and, again, worked for a night. Slightly marked the room down as the band for a wedding party could be heard by light sleepers but not too much of a problem. The hotel is a bit of a warren but all well kept.

I liked the food for breakfast and the food at the restaurant. I liked how the breakfast is included with the room. I liked the self-service for breakfast. I liked the room and the en suite bathroom. I liked how there were enough drawers to put my clothes in and a coat closet and space to put my shoes.

I didn't like how the breakfast serving time was 7.30am-9.00am as I feel it should be until at least 10.00am. I didn't like how the one day the breakfast was table service the one morning as I had food on my plate that I didn't like to have. I also experienced a bit of banging noise the one night and waited for it stop until I could go to sleep. Also the room phone is really outdated.
