Olde world atmosphere as you would expect . What you would not expect is that the welcome and friendliness of the owners and staff. It was superb. I had an early appointment which would have meant I would have missed the displayed time for breakfast. I was able to eat slightly earlier so could eat and go. If you can’t hang around for breakfast then a packed lunch is provided if you let them know the nightbefore. Food was good . If travelling for business please remember this is NOT a premier inn but a charismatic pub, hotel
Nothing as long as you understand it’s not a premier inn

As a solo traveller it can be quite daunting entering a random pub but the greeting was warm and friendly and I felt more at ease. Very friendly staff, great selection of beers and a nice cosy pub feel. The rooms upstairs were nicely decorated and it felt warm and comfortable. Breakfast was good quality, and checkout was quick and easy. Very dog friendly and a local dog walk recommended. Plenty of parking around the pub.
The only real niggle was I could hear everything next door said and did (boil kettle, use bathroom etc) when they came up (at a reasonable hour).

Warm, cosy bedding - good supply of bathroom essentials and bottled water and packets of biscuits! Hair dryer, iron and fan supplied.Breakfast was delicious and a good variety offered. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the area .
Only that there wasn't anywhere to put our suitcase but not really a problem.... Nowhere to put shampoo etc in the shower cubicle

Very old building, the staff were lovely. Very dog friendly. Lots of breakfast choices. Beds were very comfortable & had everything you could think of in the room. We had dinner a couple of nights and the food was exceptional and worth the price. Fresh caught fish on the day and just good old style pub. For the dog owners there's a lovely walk just 5 minutes walk away, walking through the old market square of Broughton-in-Furness to the old railway line.

Very good breakfast that set me up for the day, excellent location (with your own transport) for accessing the many attractions in the lake district national park also close to the lovely beaches on the west coast of the area. The owner and staff were very attentive, welcoming to both of us and our dog nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Would definitely consider a return visit
Nothing, rooms are small (but clean and comfortable) but that is due to it being a very old building

Absolutely loved the pub and hotel - lovely room and food in the evenings - short drive to Lake Coniston and Lake Windermere and plenty of other Lake District activities! Staff were friendly and welcoming day and night. Great connections to local activities and quiet area which felt very safe.
Only couple of things we could fault was first, the shower in our room - our shower head just needed tightening as it wouldn’t stay upright, and the temperature seemed to jump from hot to cold! There was no inbetween! Very minor issue but just worth noting for guests to follow. I would have loved a few more veggie / vegan options at breakfast if possible! But what was there was lovely.

The hotel location is great, in the middle of Broughton. The room was clean and had the facilities expected. The bar food is an advantage and breakfast was adequate.
The room was very small with no chair and little storage, the wardrobe being pretty full with equipment. The heating was sporadic and appeared to be off most of the time. We went for a drink at the bar and got admonished for sitting at a table that was reserved, even though there was no sign.

A really enjoyable stay at the Old Kings Head. The room I had included a comfortable bed, a wardrobe, a desk and a bit of drawer space. Tea and coffee facilities were fine. The bathroom and shower were OK though quite small. We ate very well from a good menu. Good hearty, well cooked food after a day's walking and decent beer and wine choices.
The parking can get a bit tight outside but wasn't ever a problem.

Owners and staff were lovely and went that extra mile - nothing was too much trouble. Room was lovely - old charm but with modern comfort. Breakfast was excellent - cooked fresh to order and served with a smile. Dinner was superb and a real treat. Located right in the centre of Broughton with walks from the door, I truly enjoyed my little escape.
