Beautiful old country house with amazing views. Our room was very large with a handy table and chairs. Coffe and tea making facilities in the room were very welcome. The manager, Warwick, was very entertaining and very helpful with his local knowledge. The food was absolutely wonderful with plenty of variety and nice large portions which was very welcome after walking many miles over the wonderful fells.

Our room was very dark and quite dismal and despite the beautiful views at the front of the building we were in room 1 at the back of the building which unfortunately looked over the car park and the bins 🥺

Very impressed by the location and Irton Hall had the appearance of a Stately Home with peacocks on the lawn. We were greeted by a very friendly member of staff , Warwick, who made us welcome and directed us to our accommodation which was a a 2 bedroomed cottage a short walk from the Hall. The cottage was very clean and well equipped and ideal for a longer stay than the one night we had booked for. In the morning we were greeted by 4 of the peacocks who were obviously well used to guests. Exceptional value for money and would definitely stay again.

Nothing not to like. Just wish we could have stayed longer.

Rooms spacious, clean and comfortable, excellent bathrooms and spa bath. Beautiful building and grounds, great location for local walks or short drive to Wasdale and Eskdale. Cooked breakfast excellent and friendly staff. Bar and restaurant comfortable and food good. Peacocks, chickens, turkeys, geese, pigs and sheep all entertaining. There are self catering units and the b&b rooms and I would choose the self catering in future though a shame to miss the breakfasts!

No hot water by 8.15 on Sunday am, don’t know if ran out or fault as only the lovely breakfast ladies there till checkout time. Definitely a b&b not hotel, heating off in the middle of the day and no lounge area. Bar expensive for beers and open 5-10pm but last orders at 9.15 and we were the only ones keeping the staff up by then both nights. Self catering solves these issues for us and I would otherwise thoroughly recommend.

This place is great, the staff are always very helpful and considerate, apart from Humphrey who is apparently new to the business and who came across as rude, unfriendly and arrogant. The venue is in it's own grounds and is super pet friendly. The food, both breakfast and evening meals, are always to the highest standards with massive portions. We have been here four time over the last 2 years, a great location, so it must be good, .

On arrival we were taken back by Humphrey's attitude, he is apparently new to the business, as came across as rude, very unfriendly and arrogant, (not even looking up from his phone while dismissing me as a customer) On this occasion the bed was also very hard (Room 1) not to their normal standard.

The property was brilliant, it had everything we needed as a group of girls. We met up at the pub ‘the bridge inn’ first and asked where the closest shop was as we needed ice, thankfully the bar man gave us a bag full! Property was clean and well thought out. Very cozy. Pete, who was looking after the hotel and other properties was absolutely lovely, even took us on a little tour and told us lots of stories about Irton hall’s history.

The hall is in a beautiful location, the room was comfortable, cosy and pretty. The staff were particularly great, especially the lady that served us at reception as she squeezed us in for dinner at the last minute and took our dinner order right at the check in desk so we could put our bags away.

We didn't have shower gel or shampoo in the bathroom, only hand soap and lotion. The bath wasn't as clean as it could be - more attention to detail needed.

Excellent location. Extremely clean. Lots of facilities in bedroom (tea coffee and fresh biscuits that were refreshed every day). Very quiet. Beautiful views in many of the rooms. Peacocks outside on arrival - gorgeous. Steve was the perfect host and very laid back. Nothing was too much trouble.

I felt that the kitchen staff, whilst friendly, needed to be a little more professional. They were sitting around chatting at times and I didn't feel this gave the right impression, but that's just my opinion. The breakfast was lovely on the first day but the bacon and sausage were under cooked on the second morning which was a shame. The evening meal was very average and there is a lot of competition serving excellent meals for the same price in the area, so I couldn't recommend the evening meal. However, I don't want to take away from how lovely our stay was. Everything else was wonderful and I'd stay again in a heart beat.

Seriously can't recommend this place enough. Asked for ground floor due to mobility and they sorted it out for me. Gorgeous place inside and out. No extra fee to take along your furry member of the family. Room was very clean and comfortable and breakfast was excellent. Staff very friendly. A total hit for me and will definitely be checking Irton Hall out again if we return to The Lake District..... Loved it and my only regret is not seeing here for my other nights' stays in the area.

Absolutely nothing at all I disliked, and I'm quite fussy ;)

Great location for Scarfell Pike and other areas within the lake district. Very comfy beds. Well equipped kitchen. Grounds looked lovely - but due to a lot of rain didn't get the chance to explore them. Chickens and peacocks wandering around. Power shower was great and plenty of hot water.

Bathrooms a little dated. Bedrooms a bit dusty eg. the top of the headboard and spiderwebs behind doors.

The “b&b” is really a large, historic country house set in its own peaceful grounds. Parking by the entrance was usually easy. Our room was airy and pleasant, the bed large and comfortable. Staff were unfailingly helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was delicious, with proper English-cooked unsmoked bacon not thin and crunchy stuff, superb (own hens’) eggs were carefully fried, and the black pudding was surely Stornaway it was so good.

A longer stay?
