Very clean. Comfy bed in spacious single room overlooking a farm (so quiet). Windows opened. Delicious breakfast. Quiet inside (other guests respectfully quiet). Very close to ferry. Off road parking. Nice bay. Very nice hosts. Self check in was easy to follow. The host explained the decor in the hall was the original Japanese style which gave it some character. The bedroom was fine in terms of a wooden floor, wardrobe, desk and tv - not very modern but I didn’t mind, it had all I needed and it had a sink. All very good, I’d go back as a stop over point. There’s a beach close by where I’d have had a swim had I had more time.

Would rather have en-suite loo/bathroom but sharing with other guests who left the facilities clean and tidy after use meant it wasnt a problem, and there wasn’t a queue as there were two bathrooms. The shower upstairs had more pressure than the one downstairs. The upstairs bathroom had its original large bath and the room was very spacious.

The bed was comfortable, room and facilities exceptionally clean, the tv worked, and everything was as advertised. The view from the lounge is exceptionally beautiful. Jim and Inga were good hosts. I slept well, enjoyed good breakfast meals, especially the coffee blend supplied to Sandwick Bay under their own unique brand. I was left on my own as I wished, but when I felt up to chat and conversation, the hosts and their family were there with interesting conversation and advice on where to go and what to do in response to my questions.

The only thing I could say that caused me a little concern was a bit of noise coming from the adjoining room. However, this was only on one night when a new guest was moving in. After this person was settled in, everything turned out ok. Of course, I realise the hosts have little control over this kind of occurrence and could only intervene if a guest became a habitual nuisance.

I spent 5 nights at the Sandwick Bay Guest House, & had a very pleasant stay. The hosts were very welcoming and friendly. I was in a single room with a shared bathroom, both of which were immaculate. My towels were replenished daily, as was my bin emptied & beverages restocked in my room. The breakfast was very tasty & the view of the bay was absolutely stunning. The hosts were very kind to let me have a late checkout due to my late flight departure & Jim even offered me a lift to the airport. I would definitely use this accommodation again, should I be visiting Lewis. The location was also handy too, it was about 15 minutes walk to the Bus Station/ Tesco & Town Centre.

We loved our four rooms at the Sandwick Bay Guest House. A couple of the rooms were small but had everything we needed. The location was perfect and the view so lovely. My room had a balcony and I enjoyed sitting out there listening to the waves, hearing the sea birds and watching boats coming into the harbor. Our host was wonderful and the breakfast he provided was delicious. On our last morning, we had to be at the ferry at 6 AM and he packed us four breakfasts to go that were ready when we left. He was great!

I don't love having to share a bathroom with other guests but it was always available.

Comfortable and ideal for overnight stopover on business. Parking off road, close to port and airport. Easy access when arriving quite late, well organised, decent breakfast and reasonable price for solo traveller ( single room, well provided for) .

Forgot to query, no hot water in room, maybe timing coming in late, but none in morning either. Could've boiled kettle, but was heading out sharp.

Comfortable no-fuss place to stay the night before running event; great breakfast and comfortable room with kettle to make tea. But most importantly, host, Jim, was do helpful and considerate - waiting up late when my ferry was late and making great porridge and scrambled egg breakfast at 7:30 am. A true Stornoway welcome, thank you!

Maybe the bedroom curtains could have been thicker to give more of a blackout in short summer nights - but then I might have slept in, so maybe not! Shared bathroom wasn’t a problem, and was obviously something I was aware of when booking, but in an ideal world ensuite would be better.

It was a central location, close to the ferry terminal where I arrived at Stornoway (and easy to find- basically a straight walk down the road) but also a little secluded. for somewhere so clear to the centre, with its own little bay... so it gave me a sense of the island. The host was really friendly and interesting to chat with and the breakfast was really nice.

Wonderfully located on the edge of Stornoway with direct views of the sea from my room. On both recent visits, the single room was spotless and comfortable, with the owner being both approachable and helpful. There is a good breakfast on offer that kept me going the whole day. Price is very reasonable in comparison to nearby establishments. I will be using again.

It would have helped to have an en-suite room of course, but I was aware that it would be a shared bathroom before I booked, and in the end it was always accessible when needed. But something to keep in mind.

Our host kindly made us a bagged lunch as we had to be at the ferry by 7 am. Also, he kindly drove us to the Lewis Castle Museum and to the ferry terminal on departure. I liked the tea and biscuits on arrival. They were a great "pick me up".

I thought it was expensive for a single room with shared bathroom but there didn't seem to be any alternatives in Stornoway.

The hosts were very kind, and the breakfast was hardy! The view out the breakfast room window was beautiful, looking out into the bay. The atmosphere was cosy and had a home/lived in feel to it.

I wondered if the hosts did not stay onsite, as there was a party that went on until 3am on the second night I stayed there, so i wasn't well rested that night. But the first night I stayed it was peaceful and I slept extremely well.
