-The staff/worker downstairs in the shop is super friendly, helped me break down my larger bills into smaller ones multiple times, and enthusiastically greeted me every time I saw him. -The room was quite spacious and clean, and very affordable. -The pay-to-use shoe drying device in the laundry room was extremely useful for drying my wet shoes. I also liked that you aren't restricted to 1 towel for your entire stay like some other hostels. -Good location in Miyanoura, a minute away from a bus stop.

You'd want to bring ear plugs or noise cancelling headphones, as the soundproofing is quite poor/walls are quite thin.

It's located in front of one of the bus stops in Miyanoura. It's very convenient to move around and close to the Miyanoura port and tourist information center. The room I stayed in was very comfortable, wide and clean. The receptionist was very kind and accommodating. I could do the check-in procedure earlier since I wanted to take the bus to do one of the trails. She showed me around and took my luggage to the room when it was ready. When I came back from the hike I could go straight to the room to rest and do my laundry.

As in many places in Japan, the walls are very thin, so you might want to be careful of not being too noisy. And if you have a light sleep, take some ear plugs with you. There is a small "kitchen area" with a microwave, but I saw no tableware apart from disposable chopsticks. It's good for heating up a store-bought-lunchbox if you need to.

Very good location, good wifi and parking right next to the building. Bus stop is also right in front of the building. The facilities are simple, but basic standard for japanese guest houses. There are recommendations and pamphlets available for what to do in Yakushima. Also the price is very fair.

The futon was very thin, especially in the middle, which gave me some back pain after sleeping on it for a few nights. There is a dryer but no facilities to hang clothes that can't go into the dryer (like rain coats). So you have to hang them in your room, which leaves stains on the wooden walls.

Nothing. You can’t find better for this price honestly !

It's beside the bus stop that takes you everywhere. The room is very cute and very japanese. It has a common bathroom and a microwave. Everything was always very clean. The shower was enormous and they gave you towels. The washing machine was very cheap. 100 yen for washing and 100 yen every 8 minutes of dryer, I had to do it twice.

The walls are very thin so you can hear everything but I guess that's everywhere in Japan. The bidet is broken.

Staff, the kitchen ustensile available i.e. You Get everything you need. The washroom is clean, the room was a traditional old Japanese room with a comfortable bed and good A/C.

Nothing wrong with my stay. The check in was a bit weird since you need to go to an avec building but that's okay! The staff was responsive. The shared bathroom and shared kitchen make it less comfortable than if they were private but that's part of the charm. For the price the value you get is outstanding.

The host was kind and explain us everything. The place is perfectly located in Miyanoura to get the buses to hike (3 minutes by foot). We could order bento the day before our hikes. There was a supermarket not far away for diner. There are also some restaurants around. The futons were really confortable, we had double matresses.

If you don't put the airconditioner on all day you end up with an oven.

Very good location. Proximity to a lot of excellent restaurants and a few min walk to bus station. Free parking, spacious room, clean toilets and baths, free towels, clean pantry with fridge, rice cooker, toaster etc. Bentos were also delivered to our room at 03:00 am for us to bring onto the Jomon Sugi hike. Maps and schedules were provided to us at check in. Check in only before 1800. Free luggage storage at the fishing store where we checked in at.

Noise from upstairs was an issue.

Location is great for visiting Shiratani Unsuikyo. Staff are friendly and keep the place clean. Great value for what I paid

As my room was next to the door, there was a good bit of noise from other guests entering and leaving as well as a light outside. Earplugs might be a good idea.

Great location within walking distance of Miyanoura port. Traditional ryokan style house, sleeping on the floor with sliding doors and wooden floors. Beautiful room with views of the island. They offer vegetarian bento boxes which was ideal given the limited veggie options elsewhere on the island. Supermarket within walking distance and great kitchen facilities to cook for yourself, plus bus stop is within 10 mins walk.
