The owners were amazing and had my room ready early which I really appreciated. The room was spacious and cozy. Clean and well set out. Had very thoughtful amenities down to a pair of scissors which ended up being needed so was grateful for that. The beds were pretty comfy and good selection of pillows. I loved the Elemis products for hand soaps/shampoos etc as they are a favorite brand and such nice quality.

From the monogramed pillow cases to the luxury blankets and every amenity you could wish for, the room was fantastic. We loved the platter that we could get delivered to our room, which we enjoyed with the bubbles in the mini-fridge. I didn't have time to try the spa bath, but I will be back for sure - wouldn't want to stay anywhere else now.

The noise from the emergency helicopter landing at the hospital was noticeable but it did seem to stop when we went to bed so did not end up being a disturbance. I saw that the room had complementary ear plugs just in case, but were not needed.

The apartment was well equipped, light, comfortable, modern and extremely clean. All provisions were refilled every day and the owners were extremely helpful. There was a dedicated outside seating area with views and a courtyard seating area as well as a designated, comfortable smoking area. There was a lounge for guests to have a drink and snack in the evening or just relax in comfortable sofas during the day. Parking on site available. It was a 10 min walk into the town centre and not far from the botanical gardens and a bus service outside. All in all we were very happy with our stay at Bluestone on George and would highly recommend. The staff and owners were helpful and cheerful.

It was a steep walk from the street to the building, easier going down!!!!

After a week of travel, it was wonderful to find a washing machine IN THE ROOM, together with a drying rack. No hanging out in the guest laundry waiting for someone to free up the machines!! The whole space was very thoughtfully appointed (shelving, hooks, well-equipped kitchen) - obviously someone (presumably the owners Neville and Sandra) had put a great deal of effort into anticipating the travelers' needs. We had a Premier Studio room with a view to the east over the university - not the most picturesque vista but that's not the hotel's fault. The room was super clean, quiet and the bed comfortable. It was a perfect location for our visit. A 15 minute walk to the Octagon, Toitu Otago Settlers Museum and the infamous railway station. Parking on-site. The Otago peninsular is spectacular, worth a drive or bicycle ride, and if you are lucky you might see some great wildlife. As an aside - Dunedin is the home of Speight's brewery (est 1876) and after a statistically representative sample we are now firm converts to this great New Zealand product.

Advice to fellow travelers. The washing machine has a built in dryer that takes a long time to dry heavy clothes such as jeans. It's not a complaint - just plan accordingly!

This property is a small boutique property and tastefully decorated and painted be the cleanest places I have ever stayed. The room was lovely with a balcony with nice views, the kitchenette had everything you need, the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom had heated floors which is a lovely touch. Really nice outdoor spaces as well. Sandra waited up for my late arrival and checked me in which was appreciated. I will stay here again as the room felt so lovely I didn’t want to leave.

Neville and Sandra have built one of the nicest small hotels I’ve experienced. I travel in many countries and wish every hotel was as comfortable, clean, friendly, and welcoming as Bluestone on George. The property is just blocks from the center of town but as it is off the main road, it’s very quiet. The rooms are tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable with quality linens and plush beds. Our suite had a washer/dryer in unit, full kitchenette, beautiful jet spa tub, and king bed. Their hospitality is the crown jewel of the property and you are warmly welcomed from the moment you enter. It is truly a lovely experience.

Lovely boutique hotel in the perfect location of Dunedin! First, the proprietors are a lovely husband and wife who personally work at the property (including the front desk, personally maintaining the grounds, etc.). The pride they have in their hotel is obvious. Everything was always perfect, inside the hotel as well as the grounds. The room was special as well. The furnishings were very nice, the bathroom was large and well stocked, the kitchenette was well stocked and had everything we needed for our stay.

Bluestone on George is such a wonderful hotel. My favourite stay in quite sometime. This motel has been around for 17 years and yet you could believe it was built yesterday. Every single thing is pristine. Not a mark or signs of wear on any furnishing or carpet. Beautiful bed coverings, amazing strong rain shower and deep jet spa bath, comfortable armchairs and a huge range of Foxtel channels if you fancy skimming the box. The room service was immaculately taken care of every day and the owners are so lovely and willing to help. A short walk into town made this stay easy and very pleasant. I would love to come and stay again if I ever find myself in Dunedin again.

No complaints. It was all perfect.

Everything. It is a fantastic location, tucked back from the road and the noise of the city. Very spacious room with a large terrace out both sides where you can enjoy the views across the city. Great facilities with everything you might need. The bed was very comfortable, and there was something special about the pillows - they were lovely to sleep on. We loved that we were able to enjoy a drink in the sun on the terrace with friends who were visiting.

Not a big deal, but our door keys stopped working twice over our 2 night stay and had to be reset. We tried to be careful and not let them near anything magnetic as we were warned it might happen, but somehow we still managed it twice!
