I was in Dunedin for a week working as well as visiting my mother in hospital care and decided to stay at the Victoria at the end of my stay. I was was thrilled to be upgraded to a room with a desk and kitchenette, as well as a small balcony. The staff were super helpful in all my interactions with them, including when I needed to connect to the monitor in the lobby for work.

Not a huge deal, but I had to be careful with the shower over the bath, as it was easy to flood the floor. However, the cleaners were very obliging and gave me fresh towels to replace the wet ones promptly.

Location was great, right between the hospital and supermarkets. Staff were super friendly, I was able to check in earlier than I had even asked for originally and that was already last minute, room was nice and clean, shower was so nice and so glad there was hair caps and hair dryer available. After hours door was great. Was able to store my luggage after my stay until I left town later that afternoon. 10/10. I had a stressful visit to dunedin so was basically chain smoking and there was a nice little table with an ash tray which I was so happy with since I know smoking is kinda frowned upon

I just didn't realise there wouldn't be a microwave but that's my own bad for not checking ahead of time lol.

The secure parking gave me peace of mind and allowed me to focus on the things I had to do without any worries. The hotel's location is ideal, an easy walkable to reach everything, including the Octagon. Overall, my stay at the Victoria Hotel was nothing short of fantastic and made what was an expected high stress trip, so much more bearable. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Dunedin. The Victoria consistently offers warm, clean and comfortable accommodation, and the staff are excellently approachable and helpful. The location is perfect for Dunedin Cbd and the main hospital is 5 mins walk away, where we had an appointment. We loved being able to park the car and walk to everything we needed.

I liked it all, I suppose the only thing for us, as a family, would have been a normal sized kettle in the room, as we had 3 people in the room and we had to keep boiling it as it was a tiny kettle. Also would be great if you know you are going to be making drinks, if at check in you could opt to change the horrible little pretend longlife milk cartons to a small bottle/jug of real milk. That would have been in keeping with the good quality of everything else the hotel offered. However, as I said, this is a tiny thing.

Our room was lovely and clean. We were upgraded free of charge to a superior suite which was nice, only downside was the bed configuration as we had asked for 2 singles and a double in our original booking of a standard queen suite, in the superior suite 2 of us had to share a bed.Other than that it was great, rooms are warm and clean. Great facilities.

I was travelling for work and my sister who has a disability came with me for a holiday. She never asks for anything, especially as far as her special needs however when the staff saw her walk in with her walking stick they immediately offered to upgrade us to a more accessible room for free. It was a very generous, empathic and genuine response to seeing her having some difficulty walking that they made this offer.

Nothing, if i ever come back to Dunedin for work i will stay here due to their customer service.

Our room was fine

We didnt like the fact that “the chef” was not happy to give me just a scoop of ice cream on request as it wasnt on the menu!!!!!! I had had teeth removed which i told the waiter.My husband’s fish chowder was very average as the only fresh fish was one muscle the rest was just frozen bits. The waiter was very pleasant and i think a little embarrassed. We didnt go to the restaurant the next night. Everything else was great.

The location was very convenient, and the room was clean and tidy. The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. I also really appreciated the upgrade. I enjoyed my stay at the hotel.

While I have no issues or concerns, I would gently suggest that the hotel dinner menu might be more vegetarian/vegan friendly as both the soup and pasta options had meat in them, which reduced the dining options for me. However, this was only a minor point.

I was initially booked into a room in the older side of the hotel, but I did ask about the noise as there is a building site right across the road and it's located on a busy road. To my surprise when I returned later to go to my room, which initially wasn't ready, they told me I had been upgraded to their superior room in the newer more modern building with double-glazed windows. The room was spacious and great with a small balcony. Nice big bed, clean and lovely bathroom with powerful modern shower. Staff were friendly and parking at the hotel was easy and convenient.

Even though the shower was great, due to the strong water pressure and the type of shower caddy it was very hard to manoeuvre the shower head away from the shower door so the water would spray through the side of the glass door. Even though the windows were double-glazed, I still heard traffic noise as on a busy road but not too bad.
