Very clean establishment and well equipped kitchen. Nice walking trails (approx 2hrs so don't bring food) in the forest nearby though bears might be a concern as shown by signs of bear scratches and trapping cages. Nice cafes nearby. Dorm bed space is bigger than others with 2 dial lockers in the box bed enclosure. Get food provisions at the train station supermarket as options are limited at Tsuchiyu onsen especially during off peak season.

The dorm beds felt a bit claustrophobic except for some upper bunk beds that has an additional curtained window besides the entrance to the box bed. Most beds have only one curtained entrance. Felt a bit like Sadako from the Ring , when trying to get out from it to not hit my back.

The staff were out of this world. The room was incredibly spacious with a balcony overlooking the river. Futon beds were incredibly comfy. The staff speak English as well which is super helpful. The reason why this hostel is getting full stars and why they were just incredible is the staff. I had to go to hospital during the stay and they went out of their way organising a minibus to take us and ensuring that we had dinner on the way back as the local restaurants were closed. The onsen here was just remarkable - very clean. Overall, cannot recommend this hostel enough! Special thanks to Yereem and the team!

There was nothing we did not like

Beautiful spot in the world! Loved seeing a flowing river, Great using the Onsen! Lovely view and pleasant location. Staff are very pleasant and friendly

Didn’t like sharing the shower facilitates as they’re only two showers unless going to onsen. Shower on the right feels very small for 6ft 3 person but it was always clean. Wouldn’t prefer to pay extra if it had shower in the room, beds are bit hard and pillows bit soft

Friendly and helpful staff who speak English. There’s a cafe area downstairs with plenty of areas to hang out, food you can order, and books/cards to look at. They also have a free shuttle service to and from Fukushima station. The Onsen’s are tattoo friendly! The town it’s located in is really beautiful, with small shops, restaurants, and trails to explore. It was totally worth it to stay here and enjoy the hot springs and peaceful atmosphere after a long day of excursions!

Some amenities are an additional fee, which isn’t a problem, just something to be aware of. The town, is about 40min by bus from Fukushima City, and the train station, so if you want to explore the city, it might be a bit inconvenient. Or it might be helpful is you are coming by car. Some shops in the area are not open on weekdays, so it is best to come during the weekend.

The staff was great at Yumori, friendly and generous. The area is very peaceful and beautiful, but while not at the peak of the tourist season, many restaurants were closed. There was a shuttle bus from Hiroshima station to the hostel, but having a car would have opened up more possibilities for exploring the area. The Onsen was only indoors, but it was amazing.

Stuff were very nice and kindly explained us everything. It was easy to get to hostel from Fukushima station East exit. As we stayed on weekdays, there were not so much customers, so we could enjoy public onsen privately. Very reasonable price for such a nice service and accommodations. Absolutely recommend to visit and I will definitely come back again. Thank you for a great weekend!

Every single thing was amazing. The dorm and bed was so nice, spacious and comfy. Everything is super duper clean, it all looks new. The staff are so so nice, really very polite and friendly and helpful. All their equipment is really good, from the kitchen oven, microwave, stove etc to their rental bicycle (I've rented all over Japan but never got such an amazing one like they have here). It was very hard to leave. And the onsen was nice with a view of the forest outside. I had a wonderful 2 days here. Such good value. Best hostel I've ever stayed in!

Nothing, there was nothing missing!

There were hardly any other places to eat for dinner. Yumori had some frozen meals which were inexpensive and surprisingly delicious. The miso pork was so good i had it twice. They serve it with rice and the freshest salad. The women at reception were very helpful and cheerful. My private room was spacious unlike in the newer hotels I've stayed in. Had my own toilet which is a big plus. The free shuttle from fukushima station was handy, but it's also just an easy public bus ride if you want to get there earlier. The town itself is small and quiet. It gives you a respite from noise and crowds and is just perfect for re-energising. I just loved it there.

Breakfast offering was very limited, but that's ok, can skip breakfast anyway, and it's optional. For those taking the free shuttle bus from fukushima station, at the west exit youl'l see there's a taxi parking lot and a bus parking lot. The shuttle bus stops at a strip between these two parking lots. This would have been handy to know, rather than just be told to go to the West exit.

This place is a hidden gem in the world of Japanese onsen towns! Budget friendly gorgeous inn, targeting people who want either private rooms or dorms. Large kitchen and dining area to make your own food, and really nice onsen with view of the forest. The twin room was huge and had a great view of the river. They offer some snacks and tap beer, and otherwise can help you find food in the area. There’s also a free shuttle to/from Fukushima station every day!

The location was just a few minute's walk from a bus stop, easy to find, tucked up a quiet end of a small town. The hostel is lovely and thoughtfully renovated. Tea, coffee, water were all exceptionally delicious and there were a lot of nice little amenities for a budget option. My room was big and had a beautiful view overlooking the river. Everything was very clean. Breakfast was delicious and definitely worth the ¥850. The bath was heaven. I definitely would recommend to a friend, I hope I can see more hostels like this in the future!
