Loved everything. Location was stunning, food exceptional, service excellent, traditional room gorgeous and exactly what we wanted to get an authentic experience. This stay was one the ultimate highlights of our 4 week trip to Japan.

As westerners, we were not quite comfortable to bathe with strangers, so booked the private baths which were excellent. Does feel like we missed out a little on experiencing the public baths, but that is our issue to deal with. As this was our first time at an Onsen, it felt like the right option for us.

The place is magical, like taken from a movie. We fell in love with the onsen experience. Everything was clean and organized. The dinner and the breakfast were wonderful. And don't miss hiking around the town and forest.

It's not the easiest to get there from Fukushima station. There is a shuttle bus you can reserve from the hotel. But if you are new to Japan, it leaves exactly on time so make sure you don't miss it.

The breakfast buffet was amazing. There was so many options we tried so many different things we had never before. The dinner was also a great experience. We had an 8 course meal and the waiter was great at explaining what everything was.

Honestly the whole experience was sensational and exceeded my expectations. The only bad thing is that we didn’t stay long enough. We only booked one night and can’t wait to come back and enjoy it all again.

A really great place to chill for a couple of days and get a feel for true Japanese culture. The hotel is in a great spot, really quiet and peaceful. Really enjoyed the private bath areas so we could just relax. Also the masseuse on the 6th floor is really really good...

The outside bath areas could do with a little tlc.

Beautiful place to stay! All the facilities I tried were wonderful. The outdoor pool was a highlight. The room was spacious and people came in to set up my futon on my first night. The restaurant was very considerate and the vegetarian options provided were delicious. For breakfast - the fresh chocolate croissants were my favourite!

It is a bit out of the way if you’re using public transit/trains. But the shuttle service made it easy to get from Fukushima Station.

Walking through the special Mon (entrance) the level of luxury was outstanding, spacious living with comfortable beds, private onsen bath (for 2) and balcony with lounge chair. Sumptuous foods artistically done served in private dining room. Wonderful!

obviously they are proud of it: but in my opinion The view from the room of a sheer cliff is not that lovely. View from downstairs onsen and waterfall are good.

The pictures do not do the onsen at this ryokan justice. We arrived later than I had hoped because our car's navigation lead us in the wrong direction, but the staff never made us feel guilty and helped us to check in. Our room was Japanese style with a great view of the garden and the ravine the river flows into. My tween found the futons very comfy. They worked with our dietary restrictions to make a wonderful multi-course Japanese meal, though I admit, I think I still liked the tempura course best. My tween slept through breakfast, but I really liked the fruit smoothie, which was lighter than I expected. The onsen are amazing here. There is the very traditional looking bathes overlooking a waterfall as well as two other floors of onsen, some of which rotate between men and women. Most of the onsen are also quite deep. My only regrets are we arrived late and couldn't explore the town and that I didn't buy the special chopsticks for sale here.

This was the most wonderful of the places we stayed in Japan, all of which where exceptional. The food is well prepared, varied and brilliant. The room was perfectly appointed. We stayed in the suit so it was particulally nice. The indoor baths where our favourates, piping hot with some great views. The service was exceptional, the staff where very kind and accomodating of our (very) out of practice Japanese. I would recommend this place happily to anyone wanting to get away, unwind and enjoy hot water and good food.

What an amazing hotel! The shuttle bus service from Fukushima Station was excellent and the driver helped me with my luggage (too many Kokeshi dolls!) Even leaving the hotel, I was about to take an ordinary bus back to Fukushima, the driver spotted me, stopped the bus and helped me on. the staff were extremely helpful, friendly and attentive. Amazed by all the Kokeshi displays around the hotel. my room was fabulous, really spacious and had a stunning view from my window. Onsens in this hotel were a dream, overlooking waterfalls and stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Breakfast was delicious, heaps to choose from and I was totally satisfied with my Japanese breakfast I selected. Didn’t have dinner in my booking but luckily I was given the option to do so and glad I did. high end restaurant quality.

This charming ryokan is has a great bath overlooking the river along with a few others that change between men and women throughout the day. The rooms are spacious, and the futons are very comfortable. Both the dinner and breakfast were great and overlooked the ryokan's inner garden so make sure to get there early to get a window seat.
