I loved everything about my stay. As a belated birthday gift to myself, I was so happy to receive a handwritten note upon arrival. Not only that but the staff is magnificent. I really enjoyed meeting everyone. The bed is so comfortable! I slept like a baby every night, which was easy after soaking in the very deep free standing tub! The food was absolutely delicious and, to my surprise, nice portions. The wine was superb, the spa treatments were divine, and the large balcony was perfect for my morning yoga and meditation. I highly recommend staying here as a solo woman traveler as well because it is very safe and welcoming. I will definitely be back.

The property location is breathtaking. Up in the hills and with a view to die for in the Sunrise and Sunset rooms. You can see the beautiful city at it's finest in the morning and at night. Breakfast and dinner are bespoke and above all else, absolutely scrumptious and the portions are extremely generous. Don't even get me started about the drinks. We had to save some for later. The fittings in the room, the cleanliness. My word! There was no single fault. The amount of care and preparation done to make our stay enjoyable is world class. A special shout out to all the staff members because they are simply the best. We loved our stay and we must come back.

The Cliffside has a lot going for it. Its greatest assets are the amazing staff who are attentive and accommodating. They are unobtrusive but available to cater to all your needs. This was a much needed break for us after some challenging months. We couldn't have picked a better place. An absolute diamond on the outskirts of a bustling city. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The views over Johannesburg are stunning anytime of the day or night. The property is safe and secure with CCTV and an electric gate. Breakfast was always topnotch and a treat to be savoured. Facilities were exceptional, and the premises pristine. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and have every intention of coming back. Nothing. Everything was perfect.

This is the best place to stay in Johannesburg. Just outside of the city where it is quiet and safe. A great place where service is unmatched. Personalisation is the key word here, they know you, they have a sincere interest in you and deliver the best service. I have never had that experience. Enjoy the pool, the sauna, the beaufil rooms and comfortable beds. TV with AppleTV, drinks, cookies, you name it. And if you need anything, ask them and they make it work.

The location is amazing, very secluded in a quiet residential area. The property is big , offers small trailing paths and there are viewdecks placed in great locations. Breakfast is amazing, one of the best I have ever tasted plus everything you can ask for and more. I am a coffee person and when I saw that there is a jura machine installed for the guests in the lounge, I was speechless. The whole property is very lush , and looks like a hollywood villa but at the same time very low key. They have a handful of rooms so the place definitely do not feel overcrowded at any point. The staff is simply amazing and a delight to be around and interact with every single time.

A Hotel that makes you feel Welcome from the very First Moment on! Cindy and her entire Team are at your Service from entering the door. We arrived late morning, however coiud geht a marvellous Brunch though. Whennaskimg for Restaurant recommendation they offered us a Braai in the evening, which was so tasteful, huge portions, good wine...Just to enjoy the evening. Poolside very nice, comfortable sunbeds, Drinks available any time. Superclean rooms, fresh and tidy. Breakfast on the second day was incredible, both cold and hot choices were marvellous. All accompanied by the friendly Staffel Made US feel like Home. Definitively a place to recommend and to return!

The perfect place to unwind and disconnect from the hustle and bustle of Joburg. Exactly what we needed. Do yourself a favor and book this accommodation, you won't regret it! From the smooth check in experience, to the welcome drinks, to the attentive and kind staff and the tailor made breakfast experience, we had an excellent experience and will definitely return and recommend to friends and family. Beautiful rooms! We stayed at the Sunrise Room and it was the room with the best views! We arrived at sunset time and it was magical. Well done, Cliffside team :)

The place is amazing but the staff is even more! With only five rooms the Cliffside is an exclusive, intimate place and the wonderful staff make you feel as if you are staying with friends. I can not thank everyone of them enough! The property is fantastic but the wonderful staff are its soul! I will definately stay again! Thank you so much Cindy, Conny, Mthayi, Elias and everyone of this great team! I miss you!

There is absolutely nothing that I didn't like.

We loved everything about this small hotel and chose to stay their twice during our month in South Africa. The staff were exceptionally warm and attentive to our needs. Their attention to details was exceptional (like chocolates on our pillows and a minibar that was included in the room price).The hotel itself is beautiful and the setting, high over Jo-burg with sundrise and sunset views makes it really special. Though a 45 minute taxi drive from the airport, we considered it well worth it and will stay there again in a heartbeat. It was too chilly to swim and we were too busy to climb the trails, but those options would only add to the value of this experience. Our "home away from home" in Jo-burg.

The Cliffside is an absolute gem. On arrival one enters through the beautifully landscaped garden and proceeds into the contemporary and thoughtfully designed house. Amenities of the house include a lounge area which invites one to read, enjoy a game of chess (or other games), brew a fresh coffee/tea, or sip on a drink from the honesty bar. Outside the garden pool and sauna invite you to rest and recover. Not to forget the mountain trails leading directly from the lodge. Given the peaceful and secure space, it's easy to forget how near the bustling city is...yet with parking available and the ease of Uber, it's a quick journey for anyone heading out to town. Our room and terrace provided views of the city, was thoughtfully fitted with a comfortable bed, a generous bathroom with shower and large corner tub, quality toiletries, comfortable chairs, Apple TV, fresh flowers, mini bar, wifi, etc. etc. The delicious breakfast was served either in our room/terrace, in the garden, or the lounge area. It was truly the perfect stay in Johannesburg. We absolutely recommend staying here, and hope to be back again ourselves. Special thanks to Mmatau and Connie who welcomed us wholeheartedly and ensured our wellbeing throughout our stay.
