December 2022
We planned a visit to Portovenere in transit, but the dramatic beauty of this village made us stay here for 6 days (October 25-30, 2022). A cozy bay, the spirit of antiquity, which brings an ancient fortress, and colorful fishermen's houses - a place like from a picture. Despite the end of October, it was warm - + 23 C, both air and water. There are few tourists in the village in autumn, especially on weekdays. The hotel is located at the end of the bay, about 15 minutes walk to the center of the village and the fortress. The reception staff with excellent English and was exceptionally friendly (especially the girl expecting a baby). Most of the rooms have an extended balcony (that's why the hotel's name is Terrace). Therefore, you can comfortably sunbathe right in front of your room if you don’t want to go down to the sandy beach. The hotel has its own parking (for an additional 10 euros per day, as everywhere in Italy). Good internet. Regular housekeeping and nice clean rooms. A very convenient road along the sea is conducive to a leisurely walk. A big plus of the hotel's location in the low season is that when the sun sets, there is already shade on other beaches, and the sun is the last to leave the beach in front of La Terazze
The hotel restaurant is closed during the low season. If you do not want to regularly walk to the center for lunch and dinner, it makes sense for you to look at rooms with a kitchen, this hotel also has such (they are about 25% more expensive. A room without a kitchen cost us about 100 euros per day). It is not an option to go to the center by car - parking is difficult, there is a bus, but it runs at fairly large intervals. The mattress on the double bed consists of two different ones, so in the morning a gap forms between them. It would be nice to order a whole mattress when upgrading to a double bed. In the low season, when the restaurant is closed, a kettle in the room (or at least a vending machine at the reception) would be nice.

We love this place; it is a 15-20min stroll into the main town along a beautiful flat promenade. The accommodation was spacious, clean and comfortable. The views from the balcony were stunning and it is excellent value for money, but you might need to be quick as the 'luxury spa' next door seems to be expanding and at nearly 200 euros / day just to get each day in it's an astronomical price! We didn't take breakfast there but at 10 euros / person it looked good value.
Having to pay 20 euros / day to leave your car in the hotel car park seems a bit of a rip off.

check in reception was efficient and very helpful. view, location, and ambience are perfect. good for someone wanting a quiet place to write and read and have a promenade along the bay in the late afternoon. it is an ideal distance from the center of town as well.
no shower stall holder for soap. no bathroom hooks for towels. no sponge for cleaning kitchen. can use a microwave oven and an electric water kettle, if the owner can provide them, it would be even more perfect.

The quiet postion and stunning views across the bay made this space special. The public beach is just outside. The design of the appartments makes it look like a block of town house which means it blends in with the surroundings. The appartment is well equipped. It's an easy 20 minute walk into the main part of Porto Venere and there is a good restaurant about 10 minutes walk away
The parking is really expensive

Nice breakfast, great location. Friendly helpful staff who went out of there way to help when our classic car suffered a breakdown needing a part and an engineer/mechanic willing to help fit it. Without their connections and assistance we might still be broken down so a big thank you to Antonio and the other staff members.

The balcony with an amazing view of the island and the Italian Rivera. There is a lock, which is always important for your safety. The parking is really convenient. We enjoyed our stay!
Several pointa for improvement - We haven't tried the pool due to the weather conditions, but we didn't like the fact you should pay for renting a sunbed and sun-umbrella at the hotel you already sleep in. A cutting board attached to marble is no less than a disaster in terms of the amount of bacteria that remains on it. We did not use it and preferred to cut in the air. We didn't like to see so many signs mention the extra prices for washing the dishes or for a too-dirty towel and so. But we haven't charged for any. However, this is affecting the experience.

Location fabulous Self catering - good shop within 10 minutes Very sweet reception and cleaning staff BUT The decor was the worst I have ever seen ( I am an Interior Designer ) Blue and mustard striped curtains and bedspreads out of the 1970s and orange “ things “ painted on the walls .Also 1970s Orange plastic chairs . Outside yellow and green umbrellas and one of the loungers was torn Umbrellas on heavy stands placed in such a way they afforded no shade Supposed to sleep 3 adults which was in the main bedroom but we were only two but in the kitchen were bunk beds for two more . So our living space had huge bunk beds taking up a third of the kitchen and living spaces Kitchen left a great deal to be desired Cork screw didn’t work . We were told to sort that out with the restaurant down stairs???????? We were supplied with a microwave with no electrical plug points . We plugged it into one of our bedside tables . No kitchen plug points so no kettle , no toaster , no microwave We worse was from a hygiene point of view . The only chopping board was screwed to the kitchen top and had a big crack in it so it could not be scrubbed ! Disgusting It is known that chopping boards must be kept scrupulously clean to avoid salmonella and similar kitchen bacteria Asked for a loose chopping board and was told to deal with the restaurant downstairs ????? The fact that the Town is so gorgeous made for a pleasant say for us . I think you need to improve these very minor things We left the apartment in very neat way . Everything clean and packed away. That chopping board made me feel slightly nauseous ! I never used it and tried to clean it as best I could !

Very nice lady at the reception. Sea view. Logistically good. Frankly I did not understand certain comments about the furniture. Furniture was brand new IKEA stuff. Perfect for a sea place. Colours were fine.
Maybe some grass in the parking and close to the wall of the building is growing too long. In such a nice, well taken care place it was just a bit of imperfection to remind you that you are in Italy.

The location is very nice, right on the beach. The rooms are spacious and the beds confortable.
There is no furniture to put the luggage on. The breakfast is a bit poor but ok. The hotel is far from the centre but very closet to the bus stop.

The triple room has much more space than a hotel room, with your own kitchen. The interior is not luxury but very nice and clean. A highlight is a huge terrace you share with may be one or two families, so it's like your own terrace with sea view - just perfect. The beach is right outside the building. Also the restaurant and bar. And you have parking right in front included, which would be a big problem otherwise.
Nothing to complain about
