I booked Solun for second time. The hotel is nice, The lobby is voluminous and stylish. The room was under the roof (pitched ceiling) very charming (single room on 4th floor). Correct breakfast, friendly and helpful staff.

Absolutely great, uncomplicated place, the location, the idea behind the design, and the staff is fantastic. Loved it.

Please sort out the cleaning and the maintenance in the rooms and you will be among the best places to stay in Trieste.

This is a very good hotel ideally placed between the historical center of Trieste and its bus & railway station. I stayed in a single room (no. 404), in the attic as I understand all singles are in this hotel. That didn’t bother me much, although the sloped roof caused me to bump my head into one of the several beams in the room more than a couple of times. Other than that, the room is by no means small, by Italian standards, nor is the bed which is somewhere in between a single and a double bed. The room is well lit (quite rare nowadays) and well equipped, the tea & coffee jug, the safe, and mini-fridge proving really useful. The bathroom is really big, not only by Italian standards, but European ones as well. The water pressure in shower was very good. I cannot fault the cleanliness in either room or bathroom. The breakfast was outstanding for a 4* hotel! I would point out the hot buffet that was (in part) different every day from the day before, which it typical of 5* hotels. The personnel both at reception and the breakfast room was helpful and smiling. All in all, if ever again in the beautiful city of Trieste I will stay again at Solun Hotel.

The outer part of the entrance door to my room was damaged, I had to pull or push forcefully to open or close the door. The reception was aware of the problem, they said it would be solved soon. Storage in room was somehow insufficient in my opinion, with the rather-original wardrobe not to my liking. Bath towels could be of a superior quality. The breakfast room is in the bar on the ground floor, that is adjacent to the hotel entrance. During winter it can get cool or a little windy in there. It’s a pity the hot varieties at breakfast are not kept in heated facilities, so they get cold fairly soon, especially in winter. A small investment in this respect is clearly needed. TV stopped working the day prior to my leaving, but I did not bother much.

The breakfast was exceptional, certainly the best of my trip. Shower also. Was a tad concerned about the beams that I almost bumped my head on every time I got out of bed. Staff A!

The only problem I had was getting lost...my fault not yours !

Excellent location for exploring main sights of Trieste, eating and drinking options along the Grand Canal close by and shopping. Trieste Old Town is very grand and coffee options are everywhere. Hotel provides an excellent breakfast. Reception staff very helpful explaining walking routes to sights with the map they provided. Half day trip to Castello Miramare by local bus was worth it even in the rain. Beautiful views over sea back to Trieste. Visit to Museo Revoltella to view private art collection in a elegant palace was interesting. Late afternoon boat ride to Muggia for a walk around the village and a seafood dinner was overrated as most cafes were already closed on 09/09/24.

Location was an easy flat 5/10 minute walk to the waterside/port. We had an overnight stay and headed to the port area for restaurants - which was very pleasant. Hotel was comfortable, staff were very welcoming. Breakfast had a small but nice selection - perfectly adequate for the hotel. 10 minute flat walk to the train station.

Room was quite dark - only a problem for two of us trying to do make up etc. at the same time, as the bedroom lighting was very low. Although there are external windows, our room faced an internal courtyard, so it was naturally very dark. A few small changes with lighting would make a big improvement. Otherwise all was great with the hotel.

Single rooms in hotels are usually small - often almost afterthoughts - but my experience in Hotel Solun was contrary to this, and exceptional. Uncertain when I first made the booking, the room was in reality bigger than many double rooms in other hotels in which I've stayed. It was superbly appointed and comfortable. Contemporary art and photographs decorating the dark walls of the common spaces were also captivating. Credit should go to Andrea and Maria on reception for their help and friendliness, as well as to Valentina and to all her colleagues both serving and in the kitchen. They worked so hard providing a great breakfast in the restaurant.

A modern colorful hotel exuding a hip/artsy vibe. Bold artwork and sculptures contrast its historic interiors. Top-floor single rooms have beds and desk under the rafters, so watch your head! The room was spacious with a comfy full-size bed, multi lighting options, a spacious bathroom with large walk-in shower and generous amenities. The buffet breakfast was very good with assorted savory and sweet items and beverages. Located approx. 10 minutes walking distance from railway station and minutes from the main sights. Highly recommend.

The room temperature was too hot (24-25C) and could not be adjusted.

Very decent hotel with friendly staff and within walking distance from the center of Trieste and its main attractions, as well as close to the train station. Breakfast was also pretty good.

Very minor cleanliness issues in the room, really nothing to freak out about, just not 100% perfect for a 4* hotel. Also, something in the room (possibly the air-con system) produced this high-pitched tone that you may or may not notice depending on your hearing but which for me was slightly unpleasant when trying to sleep. It was quite subtle though.

Great location for exploring the city, the staff are all lovely and helpful, spacious and well appointed room/bathroom, comfortable bed, nice breakfast but try to get there before 9:30am or else they seem to run out of items. All around a very good experience and we would highly recommend.

Only one small issue for me is the need to upgrade the bathroom towels. I would recommend asking for a room with a street view if you like more natural light. I was grateful to the staff for fulfilling this request.
