Comfortable, clean and warm. Great location just a short walk to the main street. Kids playground at the motel.

Queen bed was in the main kitchen and living room but we knew this when we booked. Fairly small space for a family.

Convenient, clean, best equipped motel we have used on our trip.

A bit small if we were staying more than 1 night-

The beds were more comfortable than our beds at home! Kids aged 2 and 4 slept like a dream. Amazing TV features, with the kids loving Disney+ and Netflix cartoons. Extremely affordable, with a 3-bdrm unit for three adults and two children being $224. Proper bedrooms! Perfect car parking for vehicle. This price would be completely unheard of in other areas such as Queenstown or Auckland. Excellent facilities in the room, and we used the toaster, jug, and a pot on the stove.

Nothing we didn’t like.

The rooms are spacious, clean, you get everything you need and a well equipped kitchen. The rooms might look a bit outdated, but they have all one needs. The location is 2-3min from the lake and 7-8min from the city centre (walking distance). The manager was the most welcoming host we have encountered in NZ, thank you for being so nice and kind. Also, the playground was much appreciated by our daughter.

Just one minor thing, either the towels were brand new or it was just the colour of them (dark blue), but when trying to use them, they would leave lots of lint on the skin.

I appreciated the good pots and towels. The area is quiet, further it depends on the tourists who come and how much they transit or not in front of our door and window. It is right in the central area of Te Anau and close to the lake, so, from this point of view, it has a good advantage.

I chose the motel because it had a good rating and 4 stars, even if the price was higher than other accommodations I stayed in. It's true, it's the first time I've stayed in a motel. We thought that, whatever it is called, the price paid makes the difference. It is ok, decent, and tries to provide everything you need for your stay. But we expected to see something more beautiful, a little more elegant, a higher class. I can't say that anything was missing - maybe, since we stayed 4 nights, it would have been good if someone cleaned for us. The sofa would need replacement. There is a very high turnover of tourists, as we noticed in the 4 days, and some things degrade more easily.

Second stay here, last in October 2022. I had the same upstairs studio which was very comfortable and well equipped. Excellent en suite with good soaps and towels. I particularly liked the terrace area with seating. The owners are very pleasant and clearly take pride in the progress they have made with the motel. Te Anau is relatively tranquil with some very good eateries and home to a bird sanctuary protecting endangered birds including Takahē. Doubtful Sound and Milford Sound excursions are readily available from Te Anau,, both excursions taken and enjoyed so all in all it was a great experience.

Our room, #14, was a great fit for our party of three adults. The back patio with a table & umbrella were nice to enjoy the early evening outdoors and we had adequate space and cooking items in the kitchen for our meal preparations. Parking was easy and right in front of our door! The staff was courteous, very helpful, and very much appreciated!

Only one comment here about the low height of the shower head. It was a bit challenging for me at 6 foot.

We had a great stay at Alpine View Motel. The room was very clean (even the sheets and towels smelt clean), the location was quiet and it was very comfortable for our family of five. We were given a generous bottle of milk upon arrival and the kitchen had all the key things we needed to make breakfast each morning. My children particularly enjoyed the on-site playground and it was a very easy walk to both the lake and into town. Thank you for a great stay.

The room was very clean. The size is great, too. It's not too big , not too small. Since it's winter, netflix and disney Plus were very great for family entertainment at night.

The heater in the shower wasn't working. No extra heater in the room for my kids, we had to let the door open at night. Only 1 electric blanket was ok when we were there. But they provide 3 thick blanket each bed. So thank you for that.

We couldn't have made a better choice for our accomodations while in Te Anau. Even before we opened the front door John was already giving us a huge warm welcome to the property and that warmth and level of care was evident throughout our stay. We especially loved the 3 felines on property who are also part of the staff. John made us feel like old friends or family during our stay and provided great information/advice. It's a short walk across the park, or beside the lake to the main downtown area and it was so convenient. Thank you!
