Everything is absolutely sensational! From the setting, the architecture, the jungle, this place it’s like a temple itself and healing for the soul. Bungalows are super spacious, bright, tidy and clean. So is the bathroom, big, bright, tidy and clean with an amazing hot water shower. The patio is wide and makes you feel you’re literally in the jungle. Last but not least, the hosting family is one of a kind: these people are so pure, helpful, supportive, extremely reliable whatever you need and ask for. They deserve the world, honestly!
Absolutely nothing, I loved everything there!

Beautiful private balcony in a family environment. Walkable distance to busy Ubud central but away from all the hustle so you can relax after a long day. Ketut and family are such warm hosts, aunty downstairs can make fresh coconut oil. Alit went above and beyond to ensure comfort. Delicious Balinese coffee and breakfast. Felt right at home. Kids and pets are so cute. Scooters available on request.
The roosters take some getting used to but nothing a pair or ear plugs can’t fix if and when you need an afternoon nap. Incentive to get up and get on with your day.

My mom and I stayed here for 4 nights when we arrived into Bali. The property contacted me through booking.com and offered a transfer from the airport for 450,000 which is about €25 so we took this option. Which made it very easy and stress free to get to the accommodation. Throughout our stay the family were so friendly and accommodating and made us feel a part of the family. The room was just like the photos and had a balcony overlooking the jungle. We spent a day with Ketut, who is the father of Alid. He took us on a tour around Ubud and we did many activities, I would highly recommend this experience. That morning we had asked Made and Alid if we could have dinner that evening, so we came back from the trip to a lovely dinner which was so cheap and really good authentic Balinese food. We also went to see the fire dance in their local temple. You can buy your tickets directly from them and Ketut takes part in the performance which was lovely to watch. They even organised our booking to get a transfer from the accommodation to the fast boat which included the actual fast boat ticket to the Gili islands. Everything was made very easy and stress free and they are an amazing family
The onlyyy thing that I could fault was the multiple cockerels in the area which woke us up at 5am but it was bearable

Bali Asli Lodge is such a lovely place with the most welcoming and warm people running it. We spent only one night in the queen room but we felt like we were awaited quests for a longer time. The room had a terrace straight in to the jungle which was lovely. The whole atmosphere was like from a fairytale. Breakfast was amazing and room was super clean.
Just a heads up that the place is a good ways uphill and while it is not a steep hill, it is about a kilometer from the Ubud palace. Not an issue with about average fitness level but with mobility disabilities you might want to rent a scooter.

I booked for 19 days so was looking for somewhere that balanced a good rating with value for money; I took a punt with Bali Asli Lodge and was well rewarded. The room was very clean and it was easy to stay cool in the heat with the big overhead fan. The floor of the shower is filled with large smooth pebbles which was definitely novel. The place was actually filled with nice small touches like this, which the photos don't really do justice to; the walkway in goes over a small pond with fish swimming in it, which was not the worst way to start days or end them. Bali Asli Lodge backs onto a small creek as well, with some foliage between you and it, so you get the sound of running water and bird/insect song from the balcony. Ketut, Made, Alit and Wayan are super friendly and helpful, and will sort you out for anything from morning coffee to your laundry; take Ketut up on the rice paddy walk option, you will see and learn a lot about the local area you would not otherwise. There was no bar fridge in the room, which might be an initial cause of consternation for travelers usually used to them, but cold drinks are kept in the fridge at reception and they will bring them down to you if you message them on whatsapp. Bali Asli Lodge is a 10 minute walk up a hill from the main strip, which can be a drag at the end of a day of walking around, but if you hire a scooter you can tear that up in about a minute. There is also a shortcut through the massive bamboo forest at the end of the laneway, which has monkeys playing around in the higher branches at certain times of the day. I saw fireflies in there on my last day as well.

The room is spacious with nice bed and furniture. The bathroom has an open ceiling (share the ceiling with the whole room), there is hot water. It’s upstair so be careful and watch your steps. The host is really nice, she has been doing her business about 14-15 years with her husband. They provide private tours with their own car, the husband drives. The house is in a small alley but totally safe and big enough for scooters.
There is no AC because it is a traditional house, the ceiling is made from the leaves (i think) so they can’t have an AC, only fan ceiling. The host added a standing fan but it didn’t help much. We travelled during the rainy season but it’s still hot inside the room. There is no available hair dryers in the room, if you need, just ask the host. But the electricity is so weak, when i use hair dryer, it can’t handle so the electricity in the room is off.

I loved this homestay lodge. Alit is extremely welcoming and warm hearted. As her family resides there, the lodge had a very safe, warm and community feel to the whole space, which I loved especially because I travelled solo. The room was very clean and has everything you need. The rooms backdrop is nature, so people can also enjoy sitting out on the patio relaxing. The most cutest doggies and the beautiful bright and friendly kids running around topped it off for me also. I highly recommend this homestay. There are also some awesome cafe restaurants within a very close walking distance which I thoroughly enjoyed. Some mornings, the lovely ladies provided me with coffee and breakfast which was delicious and a more convenient choice some mornings too.
The only thing for me was that the gym and yoga studio had me walking loads per day, but then I accepted Alit's scooter hire offer and that fixed that.

If you come to Bali Asli Lodge you will have a true authentic Balinese experience, immersing yourself in the local culture. Ketut and his family will feel you welcome from the first moment, offering to prepare a delicious dinner for you after a long flight and helping to organize the places to see around Ubud. The rooms have all the basics you need and are cleaned every day. The view towards the jungle makes you feel really in the middle of the tropical nature. Don’t forget to ask Ketut if he can be your driver if you are planning some tours. He has been an excellent drivers for us, bringing us in different location for 3 days and giving us a lot of info about the local culture.
Here you are in contact with the nature, it’s normal to hear noises of animals and it could be that a couple of bugs enter from the window. If you are looking for extra comfort during a vacation and the noises of the roosters early in the morning bothers you then this might not be the place for you. But you would miss all the rest that a luxury hotel can’t give you, a true contact with local people in a Balinese family.

if you are looking for a traditional Balinese Homestay this is the place for you. we spent one week with Made and her family and they went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful stay. Ms Made offers a range of services she can teach you how to give a Balinese massage or even learn how to cook Balinese food. We highly recommend having dinner at the Homestay we fell in love with Made’s home cooked Balinese food so much we had it twice. you can rent a motor bike from her husband Kutut as a very good price. Location is easily walkable to the centre of Ubud but it’s nice to be away from the busyness down there.
Hot water only lasts for about 10 mins so be sure to have a quick shower!

Bali Asli is in a quiet spot however it's a short (10 minutes) walk to central Ubud with many shops and restaurants along the way. Ketut and Made were delightful hosts and made me feel really welcome. The lodge is their home which they share with their family (children, grandchildren etc). Over breakfast they talked to me about traditional Balinese family roles, religion and culture. They were happy to help me arrange any activities I wished and drove me to the airport themselves. The room was comfortable and spacious and included a private balcony with a view of the forest and river - a very beautiful and peaceful spot.
Watch your step - steep and slippery stairs - not suitable for those with mobility issues.
