The staff were wonderful and SO friendly. I would stay again just to have such kind service. The rooms were beautiful and provided us with everything we needed - we felt spoiled! Heated towel racks, slippers, robes, the whole package!

The rooms did have some gnats in them, which was only a small con, but it doesn't always make you feel the most clean. Also, there was no elevator and it was the struggle to get down all of the flights of the stairs without waking others. Also, there wasn't a shower curtain, which was just a little strange because the bathroom got very wet and it was freezing to shower!

We were looking for a special hotel stay for our weekend trip to Bordeaux: and Villa Victor Louis more than satisfied us! Beautiful rooms and great service at a really excellent price (in fact, we couldn't quite believe the value of our money - it felt like a 5 star hotel but at the price point of a 3 star one. The staff were really helpful with local recommendations and also allowed us to leave our luggage before and after check-out, which is always appreciated

Breakfast wasn't included and, then, disappointing when we paid extra for it. But the garden patio in which we took it was gorgeous

We were upgraded to a basement room - but it was rather dark and didn't feel like an upgrade. It had access to the small public garden at the rear of the hotel - which meant it didn't feel that private. Not the best breakfast but adequate.

We were there one night and unfortunately that night a fuse blew and we were in darkness and obviously no electricity. We tried to contact someone but then you realise there is actually no one on site. We couldn't get through on the door buzzer (which was apparently linked to the owner's phone) as it was working due to the power cut. This concerned us as I could not get through to the hotel on my phone (perhaps because we were in the basement). Finally one of the occupants did manage to get through and someone came immediately and sorted everything out.

the elegant furnishings, the artist theme, the pretty garden, the excellent reception staff, the quiet street, the charming room, the breakfast. very convenient for the line 1 bus for station and airport. an easy walk to Cathedral square and the old town.

Excellent staff--went out of their way to be helpful at every turn. Helen was terrific; Anna, Mateo, Lucy and others were always available and accommodating. Quiet street, walkable to restaurants, shopping and tram. Breakfast is a good value in a bright, cheerful room. I highly recommend.

Hard to find a negative! Street repair made walking tricky at times but all in all, it was a perfect stay.

This is a stunning historical property that has been beautifully updated with all the modern conveniences. Helene, the manager, is a member of the family that owns the hotel, is totally charming and treated us like houseguests. The tips she provided about restaurants and outings were always spot-on. It was an easy walk to the heart of Bordeaux.

Beautiful property. C17 villa exuding elegance. So peaceful. Felt like it was ours for the night. Comfy bed, big, lovely room. Homely too Lovely staff. Very diff to some of reviews on here.

Breakfast. This is the only thing i was really disappointed with. Nothing to eat for a gluten intolerant person and poor choice generally. Just don’t take it and go have breakfast somewhere in Bordeaux.

A boutique hotel in a period property with all furnishings appropriate to the period. Set in a quiet street, close to the city centre. Lovely atmosphere, and Helen, the proprietor, was a very welcoming host. A place that we'd stay again. The air conditioning in our beautiful bedroom worked quietly and effectively. Ask for directions to the cafe du vin down the street for a really friendly, informal atmosphere, Advance booking is necessary for that in winter.

Our room was cosy rather than spacious and the step into the bath/shower could be tricky, though neither was a real problem for us. On street parking looks difficult, but if you're on foot that's not an issue either.
