All staff were friendly, polite and professional, with only one exception on Saturday nights evening meal. The location is beautiful, as is the decor and very accommodating. We were snowed in and supported to get home. Overall the food was excellent, especially the breakfasts.

As alluded to earlier, our waitress on the sat night was curt, verging on rude. Informing us that the ‘nibbles’ are not part of the main menu and that is why our starters arrived before we had a chance to finish our nibbles. The main course, pork rib eye was so salty it was inedible. We received no feedback to our compliant and simply two drinks taken off our bill. I would have preferred reassurance that the salty issue will be resolved as it has put me off a return visit. However in saying that, the rest of the food was of high quality.

A one night stay , we had a business meeting the following day. Our room was one of the cheapest and so small, comfortable, beautifully decorated. We booked an evening meal. It was a Sunday and maybe the menu reflected the choice.The surrounding area is beautiful and great for walkers. The roads are steep and narrow. Breakfast - great choice cooked or continental.

having a restaurant and bar , there is a pervading smell of food and air fresheners to mask it. But you nose acclimatises. Not good for those who have difficulty with stairs

The staff were all lovely. The meals (we had three breakfasts and three dinners) were all beautifully prepared, tasty and enjoyable - and excellent value for money. The rooms were comfortable and we liked the nice touches - fresh baked biscuits for example. The location is delightful, and from there its is easy to reach a wide range of local activities, attractions and cities/towns.

We suffered from a rogue guest, whose nocturnal comings and goings disturbed the peace. The floors creaked as they moved about and the individual smoked outside room windows in the middle of the night and banged the door to their room afterwards. Not the Inn's fault of course, and the team in Reception were sympathetic to our plight. Plea to everyone - have consideration for others!

Everything! fantastic location and simply fantastic food. Staff genuinely nice and all looked happy Our dinner can only be described as sublime. Really really enjoyed it the plum and Japanese doughnuts desert new to the menu, amazing. Our room was so pleasant and comfortable with the chocolate home made cookies the nicest of touches. Breakfast delicious and I can only say Emma's home made lemon curd the best we've tasted along with strawberry and raspberry jams and not to forget the again home made peanut butter. You will need extra toast and try it all. A perfect night to end our Yorkshire tour before heading home

Not being able to stay another night

The location service and food was top class great value for money. Room was large and tea coffe facilities excellent homemade cookies and teapot to have a break on arrival. Food dinner and breakfast suburb. Had everything you could wish for. Definitely recommend the restuarant for evening meals as very talented chef not to be missed. Lots of parking.

We sat outside after our evening meal plenty of undercover seating blankets and patio heaters but we're forced inside due to terrible smells from drains or soil waste not pleasant and spoiled what was otherwise a beautiful area to enjoy. Our room was Pink not a pleasant colour and wall to bathroom was peeling. Bathroom had show over a bath would have preferred walk in shower.

We loved the decor, the atmosphere and the food were wonderful. The Inn is peaceful with the sound of running water from the stream. Staff are helpful but not obtrusive. The food is amazing, we dined in both nights to sample more of the menu. Very diverse breakfast menu. The building is ancient but the rooms are well decorated with lovely modern bathrooms. The whole place is charming. I would recommend the Inn to anyone.

The only problem we had was finding the place, it is well hidden down narrow lanes and we missed the turn from two different directions. We had trouble interpreting the satnav.

Breakfast was exceptional and we loved the breakfast room where breakfast is served. We also loved the dinner which like our previous visit had a great menu with excellent food. We loved the ambience of the bar area. Our room was first rate with French windows opening out to a small private patio, the room had everything we needed for our stay and the bathroom was very clean with a large shower. The surroundings were beatiful with a lovely walk from Shibden into the surrounding Yorkshire countryside.

Nothing major - maybe a few more direction signs - but it is easily found on the sat nav.

Shibden Mill Inn is an absolutely exquisite place. This is probably one of the finest hotels, restaurant, Inn that we have come across. Truly wonderful eye for every detail around the property, it’s an interior designers paradise. Beautifully kept gardens, with the sounds of flowing waters from the stream/river across from the hotel. Our room was absolutely divine! The staff are beautifully trained, with lovely smiles and our interactions were delightful. The food….breakfast, lunches ,dinner, drinks are just Wow 🤩

Having to leave….

We chose to stay at Shibden Mill Inn because of family recommendations, and it didn't disappoint. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening meal, which we were able to change to an earlier booking time, so it fitted in better with our plans for the evening. The staff also arranged a taxi for us, which arrived promptly. The breakfast was also of a high standard and thoroughly enjoyable.

There are leaflets in the room which advertise the walks in the area and because of the weather we couldn't experience this during our stay, this is obviously no reflection on Shibden Mill Inn, but it was a little disappointing.

Great peaceful location handy easy and pretty walk to Shibden Hall. The property was very clean and well maintained and free car park on site by a lovely little steam which we would wake up to. The food breakfast and dinner and cookies in bedroom each day plus bottled water- were fantastic. Very relaxing just what we needed. We highly recommend here and will be back. All the staff were really friendly but a particular shout out to the lady serving us breakfast on Saturday 14th September!
