we stayed 1 night after we had been to a wedding,we had arranged a late check in, this went very smoothly no issues at all and the communication from hotel to me was very efficient ,the room was spotless and had plenty of room , breakfast in the morning was lovely and the staff were very attentive..the location of the hotel is fabulous right next to the train station but also close to all shops and pubs

We were so lucky to find this hotel particularly as our booked accommodation was cancelled by the hosts on the day of our stay. It was still being renovated so no bar or restaurant but will be lovely when complete. Excellent location right next to the Piece Hall with discounted parking across the street and close to bars and restaurants

The hotel far exceeded our expectations. It was excellent value for the price we paid. The hotel is a work in progress and is being renovated bit by bit. I am sure that It will be completed to a high standard. Our room was excellent as was the bed linen and towels. The staff were efficient and friendly, giving us much advice about the area. The location, for us, was really very good. Everything was within easy reach. We did not eat at the hotel but the dining room looked lovely. We are very pleased we stayed there.

Very friendly reception staff and very quick check in ( no need to pay £100 as other have said?) The room was clean, and the bed was so comfy! Great refreshments in the room, cans, water, biscuits, chocolate bars 11am checkout is standard I believe also. Perfect location for the Piece hall ( 1 minute walk!) £5 to park your car for 24 hours - Great value

I can see some truth in the other reviews it's a little tired and could do with a bit of smartening up - but I don't go somewhere to sit in the room and as long as it's clean - (which it is!) then no complaints from me. I have looked to re-book for another concert in a few weeks time but unfortunately it's full.

Comfy bed and the complimentary items were much appreciated. The plug in the bathroom was brilliant and we have since bought one for our own. The breakfast was freshly cooked.

Unfortunately the staff were absent when we came down for breakfast and as we had a train to catch it was somewhat stressful. There needs to be a seal on the shower door as after the shower the bathroom floor was very wet. If the shower hose could have a deep clean it would have made for a more enjoyable shower.

Breakfast was good. Quick check-in. Nice, big bedroom and en-suite.

No mention of stairs in the description - bit of a hike to the upstairs rooms. Rooms tired and dated now - could do with a cheap update. Breakfast room looks really sterile - few paintings on the walls would make a massive difference. When you first arrive, the closed front door makes it look like the hotel has shut down. Maybe a sign would help?

Good welcome and check-in. The room and ensuite were very clean and the bed was comfortable. Nice quality sheets and towels. There was plenty of very hot water. Breakfast was good quality ingredients, cooked well and served on a warmed plate. Waiting staff in the restaurant and bar were pleasant and helpful. The coffee was excellent. Parking was reasonably close by and inexpensive. The hotel was good value as was breakfast, especially when prepaid.

There is no lift. The ensuite was cold (especially in contrast to the warm bedroom) and the extractor fan was loud. It was not very straightforward to find the Hotel using the postcode and the carpark was not immediately obvious when arriving after dark.

The location was excellent for us as we were using the train and the station is less than 5mins walk. The car park was a bonus as it was integral to the price. The breakfast was super - the range of items was incredible - but we only asked for porridge, toast and breakfast bap. All in all the hotel was an excellent choice for us.

The decor in the rooms was a bit dated, and because it's an old building, the route to the room was a bit awkward. A disabled person might struggle.

Location near railway station. We came by train. Also short walk to theatre where we were going. All staff were exceedingly friendly. Room very cosy (It was snowing outside) with all usual facilities. Parts of hotel were a little dated but it added to the charm. A good full English breakfast. We have stayed here before and knew what to expect

Nothing really! Faulty fire alarm went off at midnight but we'd only just gone to bed. False alarm soon sorted!
