What an amazing place. So happy we chose Bistare Kana - we stayed for a week and absolutely loved it. The property is clean and very well kept, the shared bathrooms were always spotless and we never had to wait for a shower. The shared dining and lounge area was charming with a fire on every afternoon when we got back from skiing making a warm welcoming atmosphere. The best thing, though, was the host - Yama-san - who every morning would give us a weather report, and in the morning offer lifts to Annupurri. Yama-san's kindness and genunine desire for his guests to have a good time shone through and really made the week for us. The bus stop for the Niseko United shuttle (included in the All-mountain pass) was 100m from the front door and always ran on time, so getting between the resorts was incredibly easy. And the food was incredible! Fantastic healthy breakfasts every morning, and for the nights we booked to eat dinner at Bistare Kana (we ate 4/8 nights!) we had a delicious nepalese curry (vegetarian options were available). Cannot reccommend highly enough, and would definitely stay there again.
Nothing!

Was well above our expectations considering the price. Yamasan (The Host, apologies if I spelled his name wrong) was awesome and really helpful. The whole place is super clean there is only 5 or 6 rooms so the showers and bathrooms were always free. The Breakfasts were different each day and were really enjoyable. The fire was on each night for great ambiance and we had dinner there once that was super tasty (Nepal lamb Curry) definitely recommend. We will stay here again when we come back!! If your wondering about being in Annupuri vs the other parts of Niseko, we really enjoyed it as the lift lines where much smaller the whole place is more relaxed and there is a number of Onsen, one in particular is just down the road from the lodge. If you are a competent skier it’s only two lifts from Annupuri to reach the summit where you can then ski the rest of niseko. If you’re new to skiing it might be less fun getting to the other fields but in that case Annupuri has plenty of terrain anyway. Thanks for the great accommodation can’t recommend enough
Breakfast is at 8 which is great for most but if your trying to get on the first chair at 8:30 you might just have breakfast in your ski gear:)

Great Host and lovely place. Highly recommended and will come back. Yama San is really nice and friendly, making superb breakfast, greet us every morning and fill us in with slope news. The place is organized quite well better than most of the lodges I stayed, 4 pairs of guests with 2 toilets and 2 showers on the same floor as the guest rooms. The toilets/showers are always available. The public space is filled with lovely couches and views to the snow. The place is also located super close to the shuttle stop and a hot spring. Parking is available right at the place.
The wood burning in the place smells too heavy almost choking on one night(I did love the smell when it was not too much on the other days tho)

Yama-San was incredibly helpful - supported us with booking snowboarding lessons, renting our equipment and giving us advise on the slopes/ surrounding area. He also provided a coupon for a local onsen. The hotel itself is really close to Annapuri and Yama-San can drop you off there after breakfast. The other slopes are reachable by bus, and the bus stop is 200m from the hotel. The breakfast food provided is very filling and varied each day. Enjoyed sitting in the communal areas in front of the log fire watching the snowfall - very peaceful!

The host is incredible. Super friendly, helpful and caring person. Will definitely make you smile. The place is an old cosy wooden house. Toilets and showers are shared and in good condition. You can be sure that you can have a good warm shower after a cold day of snowboarding.
In winter, the owners heat the place only in the morning and in the evening when people are actually in the house. Everyone leaves during the day, so if you're staying during the day, you'll have to use the gas heater in your room. The house is not very well insulated so it get's cold quickly when the heating is off.

Cute cabin style hotel with a Nepali theme. Excellent breakfast and it’s different everyday. Yama San is very friendly and helpful. Love his morning weather report of the slope condition. We had a car which made it easier to commute around Niseko in general. We used the provided coupon to use the onsen nearby to relax after a full day on the slopes. It’s 800 yen per person for the onsen and if you need a towel, you will need to purchase one on-site or bring your own (not from Kana). Eating around the slopes is typically overpriced and mediocre. We had dinner at the hotel for one night and the Nepali curry (we had one of each meat and the vegetarian option) are all excellent. In case you’re curious, Yama San lists the produce grower’s names on a little white board by the front entrance. Local, fresh, and affordable. Will definitely stay here again.

We had an excellent stay at Bistare Kana and are very glad we stayed there instead of one of the much more expensive hotels while we were in Niseko. The owner and his family are very friendly and accommodating, and provide an amazing complementary breakfast every morning at 8:00. The rooms are basic, but there are nice shared amenities available, including a coin operated washer and drier. The bathrooms and showers are nice and very clean, it never felt crowded since there are only 5 or 6 guest rooms in the building. Over all excellent week!

What I liked about Bistare Kana can not be easily put into words. Everything about the property felt safe and warm. We were extremely far from home, but Yama-san made us feel like we belonged in Hokkaido. The friendliness and warmth he offers as a host is something I will never forget. Breakfast every morning was a treat and something we missed when we ventured on to the next location. His morning snow reports were helpful and entertaining. He even cooked us dinner one night. Make sure you book dinner at the restaurant with him during your stay. The communal space downstairs was so inviting with its wooded views and cozy stove. We hated leaving but got a great big hug before he waved us out of the driveway. The rooms are not luxurious, but after an exhausting day of skiing, Bistare Kana is the perfect home to return to. The location in relation to Annupuri ski resort is fantastic. Yama-san will even drive you to the lodge after breakfast if you ask him. There isn't a lot to walk to in this area, but you're basically right at the bus stop and can go anywhere in Niseko you want from there. We were the only ones staying that had a car and everyone else seemed to get around just fine. If you're looking for a bustling night life and swanky bars, stay in Hirafu. If you're looking for a warm, quiet place to rest your bones after a hard day of skiing, stay at Bistare Kana.
Leaving.

Host (Yama-san) was amazing, gave everyone updates on the snow conditions each morning and even drove us to the annupuri chairlift. The breakfast was delicious and different each morning. It felt like a very authentic experience and was excellent value for money. It is a quiet spot but that is exactly what I was hoping for and was made very welcome at all times. Very close to a nice onsen and the shuttle bus which made the location great.

The guest house is close to Annapuri Ski Resort. The owner gives you a lift in the morning and you can catch a shuttle bus back in the afternoon. The food is amazing - great home made breakfast and the Nepalese food for dinner is really delicious.
There is no ensuite, however the shared bathroom facilities are clean and well maintained. There is also a washing machine and dryer you can use.
